  1. Sorry if that was too complex rahhhh If it also helps I think masculine voices are more associated with less intonation, maybe that helps more?
  2. Voices that go through testosterone based puberty have the effects of testosterone based puberty on the larynx. The vocal folds in the larynx become thicker or something and that causes the voice to sound more gravel like and darker. It sounds 'heavier' for instance. The larynx is the part of your respiratory tract before the trachea (your windpipe, leads to lungs) and the epiglottis (which is what prevents food from going down the trachea). It is what allows you to speak. There's a common misconception that pitch is what makes people determine your gender based on your voice, that men have lower voices and women have higher voices. While this is partially true, about 95% of people (male and female) will be in an androgynous pitch range where their voice can be recognized as either male or female. Pitch actually does very little for your gender. Resonance and vocal weight matter in terms of others recognizing your gender based on your voice alone. Resonance refers to where you form sounds. Feminine voices tend to have phonation (where you form your sound, where it seems to "come from") at or even outside the mouth, where as most masculine voices tend to seem to come from the throat or even chest. Vocal weight is how your voice sounds, whether it sounds heavy or light, or light or dark. Masculine voice tend to fall in the heavy/dark range, which basically means it sounds like rumbling. Both of these changes tend to come pretty quickly if/when you start T, so don't worry about it too much. Canada is awesome depending on the province (healthcare is provincially managed). I can't take HRT without having parent consent, however, but it's definitely much more accessible here than it is in parts of where you live, probably
  3. that'd be awesome tbh and I'd be more than willing to give you some tips
  4. Very reasonable transition goals (sucks to hear HRT isn't available for minors where you live though)
  5. I live in Canada (Transition often refers to transitioning to live as a woman- often involves social and medical aspects, but is not required) For me I want to use a different set of pronouns, name, and I want to present differently without other people really catching on. Surgery is commonly unavailable for minors (for good reason) and requires essentially transition in other aspects first, or at least HRT for a fair bit. But you don't need surgeries to make you trans.
  6. My plan was to transition over the summer but transition takes a bit of time. My goal is to be able to present as female when I enter university in September, but that requires work now Oh yeah, and also I originally was going to wait for the summer but things like dysphoria and related depression have just been getting worse and I'm not sure if I'll make it to summer okay, if that makes sense. Obviously it might be different for you and for me but yeah *Hugs back*
  7. Here's a blahaj to make you happy regardless of what's in the spoiler
  8. This is an amazing idea Tip number one: Test the waters by pretending that a friend at school came out to see if they care or if they're likely to respond negatively Tip number two: Coming out in person is not required but very highly recommended. Sometimes spilling out the words is a great way to start if you don't know what to say
  9. I had a blog once. Very fun. I think I deleted it.
  10. The return of the (non-gender specific) king I'm back from the dead, I guess (And trans too I guess)
  11. More transfems on the Internet is accurate, I'd agree. And I think you're right about the creation date predating my existence. I can't believe I didn't find this thread sooner though. The shard was really the first place where I started using different pronouns and usernames (which was DEFINITELY cisgender at the time) so it's always going to be special to me. Here here here
  12. Too late! Transfems tend to be in the majority compared to transmascs I believe, so don't be alarmed besides, I was on the shard first. My account creation probably predates this thread's creation.
  13. my school definitely has a larger pride flag but that doesn't mean more transgender people are out at all it just means there's more people who are bi and/or lesbian around It's epic to be able to meet irl trans people though and it's pretty cool that your school has a reputation of being a safe place to come out in This is an amazing idea we should all do this right now
  14. Oh that's cool There's a transmasc kid in my grade and one other transfem kid I know of who isn't out openly due to transphobia and I'm not openly out to most at my school so there's functionally 1 trans kid I know of in my school and I haven't met any others
  15. My PFP comes from transmemes.netifly.app - I'm not actually sure what it is it's just VERY popular within trans spaces
  16. never heard of it actually Relevant (totally) image:
  17. You spawned around me actually, people have been asking me if I'm trans on here since 2023
  18. That's awesome that you're sharing this. I'm curious what you mean by Considering you said you first were exposed during the pandemic (which happened... Half a decade ago. That's a long time ago ) Just curious, you don't need to answer if you don't want to.
  19. THE DAY HAS COME SAFFRON WILL GET THE WATER
  20. I'm not ready to run an MR at this time. Double it and give it to the next person
  21. Violette didn't know which way she was going. She looked upwards. There was some way to tell direction. Wasn't it the sun that rose in the west? No, it was the east. Or something like that. It was creepy being out here like this. There were no distractions, and the sheer quiet had a way of breaking you slowly. Tendrils of anxiety reaching inside and unraveling long-forgotten fears and regrets. Whispers of names she had betrayed permeated the silence around her. It was overwhelmingly loud in the dark and quiet woods. So she did the only thing she could. She broke and she cried. I want to make more human characters, I guess? Idk what's gonna happen
