  1. Just combine the name. Feruchemist pewterarm, mistborn bloodmaker, like that.
  2. Makes sense if she thinks that Shards should keep to themselves.
  3. Apologies, be we enjoy people not sounding like cretins out of s sewer at the age of fifty. Also, I sometimes say Storming instead of fuc$ing randomly when I'm mad but not too mad.
  4. Octopuses and octopi are the only one I have heard.
  5. Friend, to make hemalurgy work you need to take that aluminum and stick it through their heart, so a bullet won't work and it is quite difficult to get that spike through a person who will try and kill you. It's possible they can heal their soul, not that they're immune, there is a slight difference, and they need a lot of aluminium to be effective because they can keep slashing until they're dead. Stell runner. They can move fater then they can blick and stab them through the slit.
  6. My plan was for her to somewhat be swept along with some of the stuff at first before she starts putting her foot down, with varying levels of success. I actually do plan on changing some things around to make this the first/second chapter (There's a prologue), and the fact literally everyone has been suggesting it gives me a little pride on thinking of it first, but yeah, I have some major structural changes to make to a lot of the chapters (As if these didn't need it anyway.) I am actually still trying to refine her motives, she has one clear one (Family origins and how she ended up in that camp. She is the granddaughter of a god.) , but it doesn't actually make her support the Revolutionaries, and so I'm trying to make another one (Preferably not revenge, as I thought of that and disregarded instantly) that solidifies her loyalties. Feel free to make suggestions on what the second motive could be, context needed is, she was a slave and freed and is now in an organization that is trying to kill the people that enslaved her and is deciding to help them, she can't leave and live her life because she will be hunted down and killed and helping them is honestly the only thing she can do.
  7. We'll find out where it was said, but for now have this. Mason Wheeler One of the Letters in Oathbringer suggests that the Shards had a pact to all go their separate ways. And some of them held to it and some of them didn't? Brandon Sanderson Yes. Mason Wheeler Out of all of them, how is it possible that one of the ones that didn't is the one whose nature is to obsessively keep your word at all costs? Brandon Sanderson He would argue that he kept his word. Mason Wheeler Okay, so loophole. Brandon Sanderson He wouldn't even call it a loophole. So first off, it says go separate ways, not to bother any Shard, and the Shard of Honor and oaths did not see being with another shard as a breaking of that oath anyways, even if there was one. Also, from what I remember, i think they decided to stay their separate ways maybe before they took up the shard and so they are not beholden to it. Edit: AHA, I was right. Shadow Guardian You have mentioned that the Shards... they did not make an oath to have only one per planet, although the suggestion was made. Have any of the Shards made an oath that has bound themselves, expecting the others to follow suit? Brandon Sanderson Yes. Oaths have been made, that have been unwise oaths. You have even seen one of those - the oath between Ruin and Preservation. But that's not the only example of oaths being used in ways that bind the Shards in ways they weren't expecting. get rekt, I can't believe I remember this but not how to do ASL Edit2: And 'm proven double right, they didn't make it an Oath. YES. I AM ALL KNOWING. Nameless36 All the Shards basically agreed not to settle on the same planet. Six of them - that we know of - immediately, basically broke that. Brandon Sanderson So... they did not make an oath to it. There was a suggestion made... and perhaps the people who made the suggestion did not understand that, if you want the Shards to do something, you need an actual Oath. And they did not get one. Curious, what does an archivist's job constitute, and can I be one? What are the requirements to get that job? Not like I can work with Covid still locking me in my house.
  8. Fun fact, there is an octopus that carries around two coconut shells or clam shells as shelter/armor. Also, octopuses did used to have a shell for armor but eventually lost it, and is likely why octopuses are so unique and awesome.
  9. Story of my life right now. I'm forcing myself to take a break from writing until I start feeling less depressed, and I constantly keep glancing at my work and thinking about going back to it and then force myself away.
  10. Honestly, elementary was more toxic than middle school. Teachers and staff were far more restrictive and quick to punish, it was hard to avoid kids who liked to do nothing but be awful, and you're naive nature made it all worse. High school was the best time for me in social regards.
  11. Nightblood I believe resets in power every time it is drawn. It gets stronger the longer it's out. Also, have you read RoW?
  12. Attack on Titan Season 4 has already started releasing, and this topic needed to be made. Dubbed episodes have not yet been released, so subbers, put everything in a spoiler box. This shall be a dubbers safe zone.
  13. hey, it's interesting to know how Quarantine has helped people. I certainly loved it at the start and still like it right now, there just a few downsides I get annoyed by. And like I said, this is a place for people who are going through depression and have gone through it, your story might help somebody.
  14. My suggestions is skip the chapter and go back to it later. I often get writer's block when I subconsciously know something isn't working but don't know what. As you work, you'll eventually be able to put your finger on it.
  15. God wheel of time i still have to read that. WHy can't the world pause so i can read a bunch of books and not worry about my responsibilities? Depends on the reason for writer's block. WHy are you stuck?
  16. Sci-fi and fantasy. I tend to like mixing elements from both. Currently working on a more space opera esc series and have a fantasy series in the works. Sanderson has probably inspired many people to write, so it's no surprise many in the fandom are trying it. What are you writing?
  17. Sister dared me to read Way of Kings because of how huge it was, I tried and then failed because that was the largest book i ever attempted reading, saw that her friend had loaned her the Mistborn trilogy which looked really cool and were from the same author, proceeded to read the first two Mistborn books in four days (I was on vacation thankfully) Finished the series and then read the WoK and pretty much fell in love with everything Cosmere.
  18. ... Zane as in Zane Venture?
  19. What gave that away? Was it the fact their boss is from Scadrial, the book naming a bunch of planets, or the fact Mraize literally says they are the most dangerous group in all the Cosmere? XD
  20. It is never said you can't possibly pick up the power of a splintered shard.
  21. @BenduLuke Let's be clear, on its own, Aluminium resists investiture, aka, it is immune to magic, you can't use surges on it, the magic cutting of shardblades don't work on it, that is its base line. How aluminum fits into magic systems is very different and you are conflating the two. What it does in one it does not do in the other and are unique to that magic systems. In allomancy, it burns the user's metal stores. It does not burn another person's investiture if you stab someone as that is an ability only an allomancer can do and is not just something that can be done. Please read the damn coppermind, it explains a lot of this.
  22. Don't you tempt me with Q, that is my favorite character in Star Trek. Q in the Cosmere would be EPIK. Also, of all the Shards, ambition seems to be the closest to his personality already AND unlikely to change him drastically with its intent in a negative (in his perspective) way. It's both of those that Make ambition a good choice. And the fact that Ambition is dead, so he won't have to fight a god.
  23. You forget Ambition. That might still be possible.
  24. Actually, there was no set oath for that. They all had an understanding but never made it official, and Endowment sees it as a broken oath and that they had it coming, showing she has a heart colder than the artic. There is no broken promise for odium to exploit, especially since that would make him weak as well and make things look very different, as odium would then use agents to kills Shard rather than doing it himself.
