Wow, people hate Moash that much? I mean, the guy is a solid character and a good foil for Kaladin. -
Why doesn't Odium destroy Braize?
Aspiring Writer replied to Aspiring Writer's topic in Stormlight Archive
That doesn't prove your point. Remember, Ruin and Preservation were working together on something. Odium was trying to kill Honor. Why would they ever make a pact? The stuff Preservation did to trap Ruin was not because of the pact, but a loophole in the pact. he could have done it without the pact, but then Ruin couldn't/wouldn't help create humanity. Shards would not make pacts lightly, and Odium is the last Shard in the universe that would bound himself with those restrictions when he is a Shard that refuses to even let himself invest in a planet.- 19 replies

Okay, but the title isn't quite as accurate now and I don't know how to change it or if you can. Do you know-how, should I start a new thread with the title "Theory- Is Atium Pure Fortune?" or just leave it as is?

Okay, first, i was actually going to ask whether or not you did flip a coin and stopped thinking, he wouldn't, that's a stupid question. Glad to see I'm wrong. Also, Making a new thread about this, because this has massive implications! And actually has a chance of being good/correct! Edit: Wait, my thread was moved. Was that you?

XD Wow, sass much man? Could've just said no, though I admit this was funnier. Also, WAIT! Theory time. Okay, so I remember reading that Atium was Brandon Sanderson's way of first introducing Fortune to the Cosmere, and I remembered that in the Feruchemy table, Fortune and Investure are separate entities. So, is Atium, rather than pure Investiture like other god metals, pure Fortune?

I'm aware of that, but that doesn't change that it is canon, which is why I'm asking whether or not we should ignore Atium when figuring out the properties of god metals.

Why doesn't Odium destroy Braize?
Aspiring Writer replied to Aspiring Writer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think Odium would bound himself like that. that would create too many obstacles for him. And remember, he has killed two Shards before (and there's a theory he had help from Autonomy's avatar) so I don't think he needed a deal to beat them. And I don't think oath acts are how Shards fight. Honor could have done whatever he did without needing to make a pact and was simply an ability he had.- 19 replies

So, we should ignore Atium when trying to figure out the properties of god metals? I guess all god metals can have different properties, but the fact their all pure investiture seems like the one thing they would have in common and should make them impossible to push or pull, yet it's an important plot point that you can because that's how Kelsier destroys the Pits of Hathsin.

The Coppermind begs to differ. "... which must be ingested and "burned" to activate." Also, give me an example of someone burning a metal without ingesting or breathing something in.

There's an entire thread about that. Search Lerasium Hemalurgic Spikes. As for this long-chull post, I'm going to go mention a problem for each point. (Cuz I don't have a life.) Lord ruler keeping them as a reserve and missed the two- That place is his reserve. Those are the ones he kept. And he would not have simply missed two. I'm not even sure how he could, the guy has steel to detect metal, as well as all his inquisitors. They were taken by worldhoppers- Possible, but that raises the question of why they didn't ransack all of them, which I would definitely do if I was a world hopper and found myself in that room. Even if I don't use them all myself, I could give/sell those somewhere else. And there is also the Ruin making the well dangerous to use, but I can see someone saying screw it and going in anyways. They were being kept, unknowingly, by the Keeper's- No. The keepers would have tried to use the metal for their metalminds at least once. they would not have simply kept them. And I can't even imagine what that metal would do for them. The beads were gone during the many years before the Final Empire- This theory has less problems and more unanswered questions. Honestly an execution thing. They were on the other side of the world, where the southerners are from- I have a feeling they would try and swallowing it if they are aware of allomancy to see if they can burn it. Remember, they can cough it up or poop it out later, so they wouldn't lose it if they tried and failed. The Kandra had them, possibly knowing, possibly not. - Honestly, this one can definitely work and make it so there still Mistborn in the series. The Kandra are definitely keeping secrets.

Metal Minds don't have to be jewelry. Miles would have probably made beads he can swallow, as he knew he would be using it for compounding, and this is assuming he fills it up before swallowing. He could probably just swallow some dust, fill it up and burn it, and store the health in his spikes. Um, no. He can't burn his own spikes. Otherwise, he would start going through spikes and needing replacements. The spikes are just metalminds he stores his health in, and because they're inside him, he won't be vulnerable to pushes or pulls. He burned gold specifically made for compounding (By which I mean gold that can be swallowed and automatically sound, both in composition and size) and then stored all that health in the &^%$ton of spikes that he pierced himself with. Also, what do you mean Allomancy isn't limited in the stomach? How else will they burn it?

Sorry, dude, Breath can't be stolen with Hemalurgy. Doesn't matter what spike you use.

The metallic arts can use god metals from other shards, especially hemalurgy. Trell doesn't have an actual magic system that we've seen, instead using Ruin's.

I agree that Nightblood seems to be a very important factor in whatever Endowment might have planned, being one of the most powerful invested objects in the cosmere. And as to her playing the longest game, she is definitely suspicious with how she doesn't seem to care about Odium and wants Hoid to never come on her planet, probably because his meddling can screw things up for her in the long run.

what command would you give an awakened piece of armor
Aspiring Writer replied to The Cardinal of Death's topic in Warbreaker
Make a helmet and some leather straps, give it the command "Kill all who wear you" and throw it at my opponents and let them kill themselves or get choked by the straps, assuming it's like Nightblood and can just force people to kill themselves, and there is no convincing this awakened object because it has one command and that's to kill its wearer. -
That is so dumb on so many levels (No offense). First off, you are going to kill 50,000 people? That would take forever, and that's assuming people don't start getting wise and try and hunt you down for several murders, possibly by people with Breaths. Second, every second that spike isn't in blood (which then brings up how the hell you're going to carry the spike with you for all these murders, but moving on) that spike will lose so much investiture, you will be lucky to have one Breath worth of investiture. And all this is a moot point because you can't even use a hemalurgic spike to steal Breaths! Yes, it's a form of investiture, but it can't do everything! But even then, the idea was dead from the start. It sounds like a good idea until you think for three seconds how the hell do I actually kill 50,000 people in real life with the exact same spike?

Why doesn't Odium destroy Braize?
Aspiring Writer replied to Aspiring Writer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, this is embarrassing. I tried searching for the quote in the Coppermind and found nothing. I know I read it somewhere, but I guess it's not in the Coppermind like I thought. So yes, it's possible whatever is binding him won't go away with the planet. I will concede that. However, I wholeheartedly disagree that Honor and Odium made a deal that resulted in Odium being trapped. It makes no logical sense on how that would happen, as Odium would not make a deal and would just kill him, which he did. Whatever Honor did, it was not a deal they made, as Odium would be nearly impossible to negotiate with, especially when he is intent on killing you. And if you're bringing up the Ruin and Preservation pact, I will remind you that Preservation did technically break his oath by not letting Ruin destroy all humanity. Ruin actually said that when talking with Vin. So not sure how that works with SHards being unable to break oaths. And Preservation trapped Ruin by sacrificing his mind, which was not part of the deal and Ruin was very against, seeing as he kept trying to get out and killed Preservation once he was free.- 19 replies

Well, here I am again. Really hope this isn't annoying for any of you. So, I was looking around to see if anyone asked if an Allomacer can push or pull a Shardblade, and of course, I could not find a thread, and the Coppermind doesn't mention it as far as I'm aware. So I was about to assume that they can't be pulled or pushed similarly to metalminds. They have a hard time pushing or pulling something that's invested, and surly the blades count, being god metals of Honor, Cultivation, or a mixture of both. Then, I remembered that Atium is a god metal and there are plenty of examples of them being pulled or pushed. So it doesn't seem like being a god metal immediately disqualifies from being able to be pulled or pushed. So would Allomancers be able to push on Shardblades? And a little bonus question I thought while typing this, are god metals considered invested? Because the reason metalminds are hard to push is because of the investiture stored in them, and Atium does not appear to be resistant to pulls or pushes. So are god metals not technically invested? EDIT: Okay, so the answer for the above questions by Brandon Sanderson himself is no, it's very difficult to push or pull god metals and they are basically pure Investure (read threads below). HOWEVER, this brought up a different question/theory about the nature of Atium, which is a God metal that can be pushed and pulled with relative ease, which contradicts what Bradon Sanderson said about Godmetals. My first reaction was that it was made fairly early on and Brandon Sanderson didn't have certain things figured out, so we should ignore Atium/ consider it an outlier when figuring out the properties of god metals. But then I remembered that Atium was Brandon Sanderson's way of introducing Fortune to the Cosmere, and that in the Feruchemy table, Investure and Fortune are considered separate, so rather than being pure Investure, is Atium pure Fortune and that's why it's properties don't follow with other god metals? (Another note, if it is Fortune, it may have been a purposeful play by Preservation to limit Ruin's foresight, which may be a big factor in his plan, as Ruin's foresight has been accepted as not as good as other Shards like Cultivation, Preservation, and maybe Endowment.)

Why doesn't Odium destroy Braize?
Aspiring Writer replied to Aspiring Writer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Odium did not make a deal with Honor. Honor pulled a Preservation and did something to trap him. Odium has no word he has to keep. And (According to the Coppermind) if he destroys Braize, he is free to leave the Roshar system. I agree that the reason is probably that destroying it may leave him vulnerable to Cultivation. As to them teaming up, I don't think Cultivation is that useful in a fight. She seems more of a background character that pulls the strings. Also, remember, Odium killed two shards before, Devotion and Dominion, so if she helped Honor more, she may have just ended up being splintered.- 19 replies

Okay, I'll admit, that looks awesome, but I believe there is a place to put fanart. Just saying.

I think you are misunderstanding the Atium spike. First off, not sure what refined means in this case, but I'm sure it can be easily done, Malatium is an alloy of Atium and they made that with fairly old technology. And the Atium spike can steal any power from anyone, no matter the type of investiture, which gives it a lot of versatility. You can make a spike that's better for a certain situation, like using a pewter spike to steal someone's pewter, as that is cheaper to get, or if my Lerasium theory is correct, a spike that can steal all the powers of allomancy and maybe even feruchemy, which is good in that situation, but not in any other. The atium spike seems special not for its raw power or anything like that, but for the variety of situations it can work it.

Okay, I spend WAY too much time on Coppermind, but I was scrolling through and I saw a nice little tidbit that Allomancers burning bronze can detect feruchemists to some extent, but have trouble as they detect more physical uses of Investure. This immediately reminded me of the Screamers in Oathbringer, who could detect people using surges, except for light weaving. So are the Screamer Spern using bronze (Clarification, I am not saying they're burning metal, am saying are they using the same power) and could a Mistborn like Hoid put up a coppercloud to hide himself and others? Can a Mistborn using bronze detect what kind of surge someone is using?

What Misting would a secret Mistborn pretend to be?
Aspiring Writer replied to Oltux72's topic in Mistborn
If you are picking a metal that useless just to seem harmless, you may as well just try and look like your not an allomancer at all. If you are going to disguise yourself as an allomancer, you may as well pick something with some utility.
