You are saying, that to use fortune involves the spirit web. Where does it say this anywhere?

Again, no, there is nothing to say the two need one another. First off, I'm aware Fortune lets you see into the future, that's why I said this in my first post. I'm aware Fortune has to do with foresight. However, probability has nothing to do with the Spiritweb. The Spiritweb consists of Identity and Connection. There is no reference to Fortune having anything to do with the Spiritweb in any way. And If there is, show me. Cuz I've read the Coppermind several times. It's not there.

Yes, Atium was supposed to foreshadow Fortune, which is why I think Atium could be made up of mostly Fortune rather than Investiture, but there is nothing on Fortune that says it uses one's spirit web. Check the Coppermind on Spiritweb and Fortune. The only thing that is in common with the two is that they are both in the Spiritual Realm. That is how you access fortune. So no, you don't use your spiritweb to access Fortune, the two aren't related.

Me who now doesn't know who to side with, the Lift Lover or Kaladin Killer

I swear, the jokes on this meme template are never funny, but the dog's face always gets a smirk from me.

YES. THANK YOU. Her character has a lot of comic relief, and so it's hard to make her enjoyable on her own. She works really well of characters, especially since their all so serious, she is a breath of fresh air when they're around.
-
... I liked her in OB, okay? She was only annoying in Edgedancer. She's fine with other characters. She just doesn't work alone.
-
Okay, the old butt one was funny. (Also, I don't hate her, her strange logic just occasionally frustrates me)

Why are the two actors for Vin both in their thirties? Wasn't Vin 16? Should the actor be in their 20s for this role?
-
I am ok with it happening, but I don't think it will and there are probably better choices for him to date. Even Jasnah seems more interesting.
-
Oh, I don't know, maybe because she thought the Azir would eat here, or that Wyndle was a Voidbringer, or that old men with tight butts are bad, and do I have to continue why I might sometimes be exasperated by the character?
-
I see your point, and I will say it does make me question the theory, but Connection and Identity have to do with one's spirit web, so I don't think that they can be compared with Fortune and how it can work. I still think it's possible that it can serve as an explanation for the unique properties of Atium compared to other god metals.

@Honorless The Moash hate certainly confused me, as I felt he would be one of those antagonists that maybe you didn't root for, but we're invested in. He is a good foil for Kaladin's character (Which I'm sure is why they are both Windrunners, so that they are equally matched). The same goes for Adolin and Shallan hate, which shocked me the most. Yes, both of them are racist, but that's the time. We don't hate George Washington for having slaves because that was the time period. It makes sense why they talk like that as light eyes. Now, I'll admit, I'm maybe not the best person to ask. The reason is, as my name suggests, I like characters that are well written and it is really hard to make me despise a character. Even with Sadeas and Amaram, I will call them a dick and smile when they die, but I don't despise them with all my heart (If I met them in real life, I would stab them). Honestly, the character that annoys me more will be characters that make no sense and have such odd logic that it makes my head spin and frustrates me to no end every time they end up doing something that makes me scream, no stop, think like a normal person for five seconds! *Cough* Lift *Cough Cough*

It will be a requirement to join the Sybreakers. Shave or get out. Also, nice Skyward game.

Disappointment in Era 2 - Spoilers for Mistborn Era 2
Aspiring Writer replied to E-Harmony's topic in Mistborn
I agree it's an odd shift if you're expecting a tone similar to the first series, I just needed to make it clear that is less the books fault and more the reader's fault, as the two shouldn't be compared to each other to determine the quality of writing. One does not have to be like the other. I'm glad you agree with my assessment. And just because I'm curious, I'm going to cuss a bit to see what they forum changes to. Please don't be insulted and just laugh. storm, rust, chull, damnation, crap, Dumbass, storming, slontze, and i ran out. Time to see what they turn into. XD -
Disappointment in Era 2 - Spoilers for Mistborn Era 2
Aspiring Writer replied to E-Harmony's topic in Mistborn
Ok, time to answer some of the crap on this thread, because again, I have no life. Hope you're all willing to read. I get what you mean by convoluted, but it makes sense and is s sound plan on Bleeder's part, trying to tear the city apart because of her insane "We must leave Harmony!" motive. Definitely one of the better crazy characters to come out in recent media with a nice plan of Wax still certainly has issues, though I'll admit that it is a jarring change from his state at the end of SoS, it does fit. For Steris, by 'does nothing' you mean doesn't fight, you really don't get Steris role. She is not combative, she is more contemplative, planning things and talking things out. As for Wayne... I know people who have a similar opinion that he was ruined because they felt he was more sincere and that he just didn't show it. I always saw him as somewhat of an Idiot with his outlandish logic, so I didn't feel that way. That's all I can say for Wayne. Oh, and WAYNE AND MILAN FOR LIFE. That ship is glorious. ... Sigh. I will admit, the scene where Wax revives himself was not good. It felt like a cheap way to do it. As for the other deaths/heal, Wayne's new goldmind makes perfect since how he survived so much, and Suit being blown certainly shows he low Suit was on the command chain, and we already have Sequence to take up our attention, so he would've been redundant. It's a much less harsh time, the world itself isn't in danger (yet), it's more of a side story to the whole series, so yes, the stakes are different. What were you expecting, a copy? The series has its own feel, which includes different stakes. It might take a slight shift in mindset if you have certain expectations, but it should not take away from the story. Oh, no you storming didn't. *Inhales* First off, copy of pre-industrial England with a hint of the old west? It is similar to a time period and culture? That is a bad thing? Scadrial culture often mimics are own, having many parallels, which is interesting to think about how human society would be if you clicked a reset button and what similarities there would be. Also, there are many differences in this era regarding Allomancy and events from the previous series that make an impact and how society values certain metals and skills, as well as laws on how Allomancy can be used (Ex. Emotional Allomancy can't be used for certain commercial practices.) And again, WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT COPIED AN ERA? And oh, do not touch the development of the metallic arts. This series has done a lot to advance how Feruchemy and Allomancy now work, from the dilution of power, to the interbreeding and twinborn, to unkeyed metalminds and the Bands of Morning that can be used very interestingly in both Scadrial setting and the entire Cosmere! (I am waiting for a black market on traits like healing or strength, that will be storming AWESOME.) The new metals are... strange (Time manipulation is always going to be odd to implement) but are used nicely in combat situations. And the new uses for Aluminium shows a progression of technology and experimentation for ways to combat Allomancy (Aluminum alloy for bullets and using aluminum lining in hats to block emotional Allomancy), so by disappointing you mean world and even universe changing, then yeah, I guess it's disappointing. Give this series some credit. Just because it's not the Mistborn 2, the copy in another era doesn't make it bad. If anything, I would advocate for the opposite. Oh, and I didn't even mention Harmonium and the southern Scadrails or- no, just read the damnation books again. they're great. Not perfect, but great. -
Can you give some examples, because I didn't notice them
-
@Honorless Okay, I have noticed that in modern content, a good and recent example being the storming Rise of Skywalker Lesbian kiss that they removed for the Chinese release, which is just disgusting. As you can tell by my name, I am trying to write my own book, and I have gay leads, One of which is a lesbian and the other a Bi-sexual male. My approach is to not treat them uniquely and just write them as people (Especially in my setting where being gay is not considered bad/different/etc. so there wouldn't be any real struggle because of this). And when I ask myself if I have a reason, my reason is normally 'It just fits'., and I think that's the difference between how representation in modern content starts to differ. They add them in just for the label, just to say they have them, and they treat them as different people or just flat out ignore them. With Rannette, the intention doesn't seem disingenuous, though she is certainly a side character that we see little of, and we haven't even seen her girlfriend with her. Not sure why they feel different.

My heart dying in the Well of Ascension
Aspiring Writer replied to BridgeFourRecruit's topic in Mistborn
I lost my rust when that happened. I was all but screaming, "You idiot! Don't tell them, the lives of everyone who believes in you depends on it!" (My sense of morality is quite different from Elends, as we can see) -
Steel is the best metal, Change My Mind
Aspiring Writer replied to Narcoleptic Axolotl's topic in Mistborn
I've thought about that combination, too, and I think It's partially a matter of skill of pulling on whatever you want, reducing your weight again, and pulling yourself away, so I think it could work, though you need to keep on your toes. As for my pick, if we're including god metals, Atium. Seeing the future and Immortality? HELL YES. And if we're not including god metals, I'll pick gold, as I will be able to heal certain things and conditions as I age, like my teeth or back. Basically, take away the negative effects of aging.- 27 replies

Okay, I get your point, and maybe it is possible, but Miles isn't burning his spikes. No matter how he is burning his metal, if he burns it, they will disintegrate afterward, and we don't ever see or hear him having to get replacement spikes, so my point still stands that Miles cannot be burning his spikes.

I'm aware of the IRL answer. I'm just trying to find an in-universe answer that makes sense because just saying it was something he made early on is somewhat dissatisfying and doesn't mean he/we can't come up with an explanation. So, I see two explanations for this. On the feruchemy table, the two are separate entities that can be stored. So either Fortune and Investure are two different yet in some ways similar things from the spiritual realm, or Fortune is another kind of investiture and like different types of matter, has very different properties from the pure form of matter/investiture.

No, I don't. I loved Shallan in the first book, to the point I skipped chapters just to read her parts. I don't remember her humor from that book, I'll have to reread it, but I never disliked it, and she's seemed a bit funny in Oathbringer, which I remember a lot more than WoK, and her naive fit storywise, and there are naive people in the world. Maybe she's hard to like for some people, but she's a solid character.
