  1. Cheese, with hand-rolled crust. Do you know who Charles Lindbergh is?
  2. I have not. TPBM will sit outside in the cold.
  3. They both confuse me. Do you like hummingbirds?
  4. Picked up a Batman comic book today, Urban Legends Volume One. It was a fun read, though I'm definitely still confused on the reading order for these things. Next up, at least two Jeff Wheeler novels and continuing Failure Is Not An Option.
  5. I'm mildly sick right now, and it sucks. It's just a cough and tiredness, I'm not even running a fever, but it is not enjoyable to cough so violently you think you're going to hurl.
  6. Two or three slices. Do you like summer or winter more?
  7. A couple of my friends, for sure. Do you have an interesting eraser?
  8. I finished The Right Stuff, which was good all the way through. I've never read much about the Mercury program, so it was really interesting. I'm not done with my space kick, so now I'm reading Failure Is Not An Option, which is about Mission Control at NASA at least through Apollo 13, I'm not sure how far it goes. I read The Lost Metal too, on Sunday. No idea what will be after Failure Is Not An Option.
  9. You can say that again.
  10. I'm coming around to it, because it's helpful for paper editing. What's your favorite scent of soap?
  11. I occasionally read into volcanoes and astronomy, which involves lots of excited discussions. Would you ever wear a bowler hat?
  12. Once upon a time, there was a girl who liked to write.

She had been telling stories for a very long time, and she had always had an active imagination, even if she was very quiet around most people.  When she was twelve, she actually started writing and even completing some of her stories.  It was exciting; and it was fun.

And then a lot of things happened.  The world.  School.  Her own mind.

For years, she didn't manage to complete anything she started writing, and she was barely writing at all.  The fun was gone, replaced by worry that one misstep could ruin everything, and make people hate her.  The excitement was gone, too.

It's been a long time since I cracked ten thousand words on anything.  I finished a short story a few months ago, the first thing I had finished in years.  That didn't even break five thousand.  I had lost it.  I'm still not sure what 'it' was, but it was gone.  Writing had lost it's light for me, and no surprise.  I was going through some pretty bad years, and honestly, they probably aren't over, because that's life.

But I think it's getting better.

I didn't just hit ten thousand words.  I've hit fifteen.  And I'm nowhere near done.

I don't know what changed.  Strike that.  I know one thing that's changed.  I stopped caring what other people were going to think of how I put together this silly language we call English.  But why did that change?  I have no idea.  I've been trying and praying for years, and I think maybe I was starting to think that I was never going to love writing again.

    Turns out, that's not true.

This is going to sound cheesy as all getout, but here goes anyway.  Life gets better.  The trick is, it's really hard to make that happen on your own.  You need help.  And that can be hard too.  But it's so worth it.

I'm writing again.  And that's a small thing, but it's also a pretty big thing, because I'm writing again.  And it feels really good.

      DramaQueen

Oh, yay! I'm seriously so happy for you, that's wonderful.

  13. I'm probably going to get to watch on Wednesday night for once because of how my life shook out, and I'm so excited! I'm hoping that the finale will be longer than the usual runtime. I think this is the most I've been invested in a television show ever, maybe for visual media as a whole, though Top Gun: Maverick and Dune are in the running for that. Ep 11 spoilers: You know, it would be really neat if there was a DVD of this series, I like having a physical copy, and I'm definitely going to rewatch this at some point.
  14. I have acquired a new bookshelf! It's very large (almost six and a half feet tall, three and a half feet wide), which is great, because I have kind of reached critical mass on my current bookshelves (currently have no way to fit The Lost Metal with the rest of the Mistborn books, everything is so full up), and I got the thing for cheap, because there was a sale! And I'm actually kind of doing okay mentally, which is good. A really low bar, yeah, but I'm clearing it, which is better than how I spend... a lot of time. I actually feel like I'm living, not just surviving, and it feels good.
  15. I stayed up last night to finish, and yeah. I think I'm happy. It was about halfway through when I started wondering who wasn't going to make it through the book, and once I remembered Wax's kids, I think I knew. But gosh, that whole sequence was beautiful. So, am I right in thinking that what Wax did with trellium/bavadinium, trying to separate harmonium, was sort of like nuclear fission? That's the vibes I was getting, but I'm not a scientist, so I'm not sure.
  16. I have a pair of red, black, and green argyle socks that are the only socks I have that aren't super basic. I like to wear them on Saturdays. Do you have any animal figurines?
  17. I don't know, and because of arbitrarily imposed skeletal limits, I will never know, it seems. Are you writing anything currently?
  18. Ah, writing.  In which I stare at a Google Doc for ten seconds with the wheels spinning, but without any traction, and then slink off to Google what the door of a truck bed is called.

Tailgate.  The word I wanted was tailgate.

I'm really glad that scene's over, though.

  19. Currently reading The Right Stuff, a book about the Mercury space program that my dad loaned me. So far, it's quite good - very compellingly written.
  20. This looks great! I love the composition!
  21. I'm listening to La Copa de la Vida by Ricky Martin while I'm writing right now. The 2014 remastered version, specifically. I really like the rhythm, and the way the words sound - they just flow really well.
  22. Not physically, but now I'm realizing that I do do a lot of sterotypically cat things. TPBM has written a scene for a story while listening to music that just does not suit the tone of the story.
  23. I think I would want to read the books. My memory isn't that great all the time. Do you like football? (Or soccer, if you're American like me.)
  24. No, but my siblings have. TPBM needs a new bookshelf.
  25. Episode ten had me shaking for about half the runtime, I was so tense. I was fully expecting more casualties. Gosh, I'm excited for the next two episodes.
