    Watched Angel's Egg on a whim, and I genuinely have no idea what to think. All I can say is that it's really really good. And I'm going to be thinking about it for a while.

    Martin sees Ayia pass out and abandons attacking the creature in front of him in favor of getting closer to Ayia so the creatures can't attack her while she's down.

    It's mostly because I'm writing as I'm listening, so I try to see if I can find a pattern to fit the gist of the scene to the tune.

    I've been listening to a lot of piano covers of Avicii and Alan Walker songs while I write. I especially like Jova Musique's covers, there's a sort of... bouncy feel to them that I really like. The fun part is that I don't actually listen to the originals and I don't look up the lyrics, so I make up my own for the parts I like.

    If your sibling says that they aren't a barbarian (maximum amounts of drama, gesturing, facial expression), how do you respond?

    I know the answer, but I want to confirm.

      The Mongols are awesome.

      They were just nomadic pastoralists who were really good at using composite bows and riding horses and established what was basically the largest land empire ever. They fixed up the Silk Roads and promoted trade and made it super safe, and also gathered together some of the best artisans and scholars and stuff to help them run their empire.

      They killed a lot of people very violently, but only if they didn't submit to their rule. News of that spread which encouraged people to surrender. So now we remember them for doing violent and terrible things when they actually didn't do that too often.

    I had the bright idea to just read all my library books at once, so I finished The Girl From Shadow Springs and Dustborn last night. They're both pretty good. I especially liked the narrative choices in The Girl From Shadow Springs.

    My head is currently spinning because I just read Siege and Storm in one go. Not bad. I've also finished A Crack in the Edge of the World, so now I'll move onto The Girl From Shadow Springs by Ellie Cypher, and Dustborn by Erin Bowman. I honestly have no idea what they're about, beyond pretty vague summaries, but the covers were super pretty, so...

    Martin forcibly shoves the exhaustion creeping though him into the back of his head and races for the nearest creature, hoping that a knife will do something, because otherwise, he's being incredibly stupid.

    Finished both of my volcano books, and Illuminae! Goodness, but that book gets dark. I'm going to read about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake next, and probably Shadow and Bone book two, Siege and Storm, at the same time. One for killing time at school, and one for home.

    Martin is pretty sure he can't fight whatever this is, but he'll try. He keeps an eye out for Tvora as well. She's got to turn up at some point, right?
