  1. Absolutely, especially with something as big as the Wheel of Time.
  2. Finished Crossroads of Twilight! Overall, positive feelings. Next up, a stack of sci-fi and natural disaster/survival fiction, and I expect Knife of Dreams pretty soon. At this rate, I just might be able to finish the series by mid-September.
  3. I've been liking it, especially the music in the last few episodes. It's been really nice to have media to discuss with my family that we all enjoy.
  4. Hwhelp, I'm gonna vanish for a few days.  See y'all then!

      Pog! Seeya, Sprennie!

  5. I did a quick look, and my best guess is that it's embedded. Every edition had it, so they might be printing them with it from here on out. I know that that's what happened with Shadow and Bone's covers as well. It is a bummer, that's for sure. (On a more amusing note, I did Google this to see if that turned up anything more, and it autofilled my search to 'do the wheel of time covers have a middle ear infection'.
  6. About to start Crossroads of Twilight! I've hit the double digits of WOT, which for some reason feels like an accomplishment.
  7. Thanks for the context! It's been quite some time since I read Mockingjay, so I couldn't remember the circumstances in the book either.
  8. Welcome to the Shard!
  9. Why am I making this update?  Number one, to say how much I appreciate Ted Nasmith and Alan Lee's art for The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion.  Their work is incredible.

Second, there's a Russian rock opera based on events from the Silmarillion, and I need to share that.  Finrod Zong  It's an hour forty minutes long, and in Russian (duh), but it's great.  You should check it out.

    Spoiler

If anyone actually watches it, please tell me what you think.

I promise on all my Tolkien books that it isn't.

  10. Found a Russian rock opera about... either Beren and Luthien or Finrod. It's telling the Beren and Luthien story, but the title is 'Finrod'. It's actually pretty good. The costuming, especially for Galadriel, is quite nice. Edit: It is about Finrod. It's also excellent, and if you're a Silmarillion fan, you might get a kick out of this.
  11. "It's not mind control," Martin grumbles, "But you're right. He tries for a smile, and thinks he gets about three quarters of the way there.
  12. Martin takes the sudden flare of hope that starts to form and shoves it into the back of his mind harshly. There are too many variables. "That would be..." How does he finish that? "Nice."
  13. "We don't have the time to do that. Overthrowing a king, remember?" Martin kind of misses Earth. No magic. He could have dealt with this situation a long time ago if he had decent intel and orders.
  14. "Yes to both. But the first isn't possible, and the second requires a lot of money, a neurosurgeon, and very specific equipment."
  15. "I'm fine now. Other than that..." He shrugs, spreading his hands. "I'm not really in control of it. That's the whole point."
  16. Hey, does anyone know of books that have the plot 'we crashed in the wilderness and we need to work together to survive'?  Also post-apocalyptic fiction that's about people building a community together?  If you do, I'd love to hear about 'em.
