  1. I literally watched the Super Bowl for this, and then made my whole group be amused at me when it started and I knew what it was for based on the design of the Amazon logo... #noregerts I'm hyped! I've already made the decision to essentially ignore everything on the Internet until at least September, and maybe after. I'm a little hesitant on some of the original characters, and the casting for Elrond, but again, we've gotten a couple stills and like, fifty seconds of scenes. That's not enough for me to really decide what I think. Admittedly my problem with the Elrond casting is what they've done with his hair, which I can accept if they offer some sort of explanation, maybe something to do with his Mannish heritage? The hair on the elves we've seen so far in general I'm not sure about. I'm really hoping we get some long-haired elves with pretty braids, but again, so far, not much material to go off of. The costumes look pretty good, especially for Gil-Galad, or who I think he is (0:36). The plot, we'll see. Hopefully future trailers will help clear that up a little. The rating.... I really want to watch this, so I'm really hoping they keep it PG-13, or I might not get to. And hey, the books are still the same, no matter how the show turns out. But I'm excited!
  2. Africa, The Final Countdown, Don't Stop Believing, all songs that I associate primarily with vans, road trips, and friends, and also Bill Whelan's Reel Around the Sun, which is completely different, but it's also incredibly good.
  3. 'We just need a cowboy man doing his cowboy best in a cowboy world' yes, I am talking about Cobb Vanth again.
  4. The plane begins moving, turning and then accelerating down the runway. Martin leans forward as best he can to see out the window.
  5. Now halfway through Les Miserables, and the edition says it's unabridged, but it doesn't have forty pages on the convent? Or Fantine in Paris? Or the long diatribe about the Bishop? I'm rather confused.
  6. Two books into Left Behind, and I also read The Three Musketeers. Wow. 720 pages of 'I'll fight you and you and your dog too, sir!' It was hilarious, though.
  7. Cobb Vanth and Jon Antilles, both from Star Wars. You don't hear too much about them.
  8. Martin instinctively reaches up to a cargo net that isn't there as the engine kicks up a notch, the noise getting louder. He quickly sits down instead, reaching for the straps as the plane begins moving forward.
  9. "We aren't, the pilot is," Martin points out. "And say what I will about Nahl, anyone she trusts to fly this, that person is qualified."
  10. "You know, we used to call ours that," Martin remarks. "There was a Peregrine, an Eagle flight, Sparrow..."
  11. The plane is the first thing since their arrival back on Earth that makes Martin feel like he never left. This is something he knows, and understands, despite it being GA and not ISC. "We're going to want to strap in for liftoff, yeah?" He asks as Nahl brushes by on her way towards the front.
  12. "Then let's get on board. The pilots are cleared?" Martin grabs his bag and does a quick head count. "Yeah. They're my own guys."
  13. Nahl comes back to the car, a rather pleased expression on her face. "Let's go, folks, our ride awaits." Martin hops out of the car, using one hand to shade his eyes. "Don't tell me that's what I think it is." "Repatriated GA cargo carrier? You bet it is," Nahl says. "It's the only one that'll fit your whole group."
  14. I'm alive.  School is a lot and so is life, but by the end of the month I'll try to get back on FOTT.  Trying to organize my day-to-day obligations has cut into a lot of my time, and as such, my personal Internet usage has gone down and will likely remain lesser for quite some time, which is most likely the better choice for me.

I'm glad you're alive and doing well!

  15. I read the Shadow and Bone trilogy around the time the show came out, as I had a friend who really liked them and was very excited for the show. I never got around to any of the other books, though. At the time, they were hard to come by in the library system, and I just never got them.
  16. All the way up to collection eight of Left Behind: The Kids. I'm definitely going to read the main series after these. I also read Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen, and really enjoyed it. I've also started reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and am enjoying that as well.
  17. Dunny in The Way of Kings is the one I can think of at the moment. I know there are others, but they're slipping my mind right now.
  18. Probably Yellow.
  19. Left Behind: The Kids collection four. I still don't know how I feel about these books. Also, some friendly advice; don't read Neil Shusterman's Unwind before bed. Just don't.
  20. First off, those faces are stunning! As someone who has a really bad habit of drawing the same vaguely feminine face on any portrait, seeing someone make all their characters look different blows my mind. I like the brain exercise I get from doing math, but I would enjoy getting that brain exercise from something I'll use in real life. Make me learn how to do taxes! Budgeting! Still working with numbers, but I need to do those things because then I don't go into debt or get in trouble for filing my taxes wrong.
  21. Been switching between Rachel Hardy and Colm McGuinness covers for the last couple of days. I really like both of their individual styles.
  22. Okay, I've started getting to the 'funky stuff', (collection three) and my initial thoughts stand. I did remember that this is technically a tie-in series, and the main series might be better, so maybe after this one, I'll read that. Also read Terciel and Elinor, by Garth Nix. It was good, but I don't have much inclination to read Sabriel. Plan to start The Pillars of the Earth in the next couple of days. That one might be a bit of a hit-or-miss.
  23. My goodness! The blending of the styles and colors is amazing!
