  1. This is more metal than rock, but Sabaton's music is pretty good if you've not listened to it before.
  2. Anybody else ever want to reach out to someone because you're struggling, but you don't because if you talk about the one thing, all the other things are gonna come out because they all feed into each other and it'll probably be fine eventually because it's probably just a storm of teenage confusion that'll go away one day?

In other words; I'm very confused, tired, and a little bit miserable and I don't know why.

That's rough. I feel you so much. Let me know if I can help!!! For now, I usually read one of my favorite books when I feel this way. It just makes everything better you know?

  3. Do you ever realize that you're completely unsubtle? Anyway way too many people are apparently aware that I have a really big crush on someone.
  4. "Because I'm messed up in the head," Martin says gamely. "And there's something here that will help me be less so."
  5. Martin swallows his comment about this being a murder place, and leads them back up towards the plane. As he walks, he unravels his braid until his hair is free. He has a passing interest in theatrics, and this seems like a good time for them. And, he's likely going to lose a patch of hair to whatever comes next, so he'll enjoy it now. "Anything you want Nahl to know?"
  6. I think I spoiled myself for that by accident, already.
  7. Same, though the other way around. It's resulted in some friendly teasing. If I'm really annoyed, I just tell them I have a crush who is not this person.
  8. Congrats, @CalanoCorvus! Okay, I'mma be a nerd here for a quick sec. I like old things. I like sewing. Well, Saturday I went antiquing, and I found circa 1920's silk flowers! They're in incredibly good condition, and they're probably a hundred years old, and that, to me, is really cool! (I got six for five dollars, it's great.) But not only that! In another shop, out of absolutely nowhere, I found a Victorian era linen shift. It might be from France. It was so cool! It had underarm gussets, and the hem was selvage, and so was the neckline, and I don't know how that works, but I want to find out. The linen was really good quality too, especially for something that's roughly a hundred years old. Old stuff! Is so! Neat! I am seriously tempted to hand sew another shift now.
  9. Could you link that post? It is the remake, however, that doesn't exclude the possibility of me independently watching the original. Also, for the purposes of making students who may not take the older version seriously, it was a good choice. While you're right, you can't spoil history, I like to approach things like this blind, since I don't know a lot about this particular story, book or movie. I have no idea if this makes sense or not, but it also helps me connect with the characters, because I also don't know who will make it out, if anyone. (spoilers below) We finished today. It's... a really good movie. I'm very sad. I cried into a friend's shoulder and got a headache. I won't be watching it again anytime soon, but eventually, I'm going to watch it all at once. And then watch the old one.
  10. We're watching All Quiet On The Western Front in my history class. We're about halfway through, I think, and it's the saddest movie I've watched all year. I'm probably going to spoil it for myself by reading the book, but even still. It hits hard.
  11. I'm gonna try and be brave for a minute. I've noticed in my church particularly, many folks, including myself, aren't a big fan of using the word 'religion'. Sure, we'll use it if the need arises (please select here, etc.), but for the most part, we tend to use 'faith' instead. I'm curious, do any of y'all do this too?
  12. Not right now, only shows up after I've been crying, usually. Favorite cut of jean?
  13. Thank you. That helps me understand some things a little better.
  14. Some of it is good? I can't stand raw oysters, but I like crabs and clams when we get them. That's all I've ever tried. How do you wear bandanas?
  15. I figured I'll get a better answer here than just puzzling it out in my head: At what point would you say something is a mental health struggle? Is it anything that one is struggling with or does it have to reach a certain point beyond the norm?
  16. Dudes, bros, pals, I'm leet!

  17. @Hoiditthroughthegrapevine, thanks for tagging me, I never would have noticed otherwise!
  18. So, my local library did a book sale. And I went, because of course I did. I have low expectations for this sort of thing, because often it's the books that no one is reading that are being sold, and usually with reason. However, I scored a first paperback edition of The Dragon Reborn! For fifty cents! Do I own The Great Hunt? No! Will I be buying it? Already planned to. Plus, I found a copy of The Secret Garden, and that sent me down the rabbit trail. I skimmed through The Boxcar Children, and put Little House in the Big Woods on my TBR list. Betsy-Tacy may not be far behind, because each of those series have a heck-ton of nostalgia for me. People ask why I dress and speak the way I do? Look no further than the fact that the first book series I read were The Boxcar Children and Little House on the Prairie.
  19. Martin stops and examines the wall, then pries a stone free. There's a small package there, a small data drive he hid here at his most daring. "If there were ghosts anywhere on Earth, this would be one of the places," he tells Queen. Wait. That's not something people want to hear. "There aren't any," he backtracks. "This is for Nahl," he says, putting it in his left front pocket, and removing another from the cavity and putting that one in his right front pocket. "Let's get this back to her, and actually get this moving.
  20. "What's the worry, then?" Martin asks, lightly rapping his knuckles against the stones of a wall, tipping his head in thought.
  21. "Once upon a time, this was the west of the United States," Martin tells Andante, weaving between buildings. "Not sure where exactly we are, but there's not much out here but rocks and dirt. Don't worry," he adds, turning to glance at Queen. "There's no one here. I should know."
  22. Martin's footsteps slow as they near the abandoned facility. It's not big - most of it is underground, and guarded to high heaven. But there are outbuildings above ground, and most of those are in some form of disrepair. The wind that rushes between those buildings stirs up dust, and his arm moves on instinct to lift a mask that he isn't wearing. "Home sweet home," he murmurs.
  23. Took me two days to finish The Eye of the World! I was right - now that I've finished the whole series, going back to the beginning, it's not nearly as daunting. It also adds a lovely sense of mourning? Or inevitability? To the story, because now I know where these characters will end up, and it changes the feelings. (Big spoiler below - specifically A Memory of Light.) Interestingly, while I have not watched the Amazon show, and have no plans too, I have associated a few of the faces with the characters, namely Rand and Perrin. It's actually helpful, because by having a specific face in mind, I can picture the emotions better, which helps me emphasize with the characters. Next up: The Shadowy Horses! Ghosts, Roman legions, and Scotland! Very intriguing!
  24. Martin glances around at everyone. He knows they're probably itching to use their various talents. "Here's the plan. We go down there, I'm going to get something from a specific location, then we come back and give that thing to Nahl. Once she has that, and she's leaving, we need to go back to where we're going now, and you can get there however you want."
