Hockey Players!
Cosmical Existence replied to Bearer of all agonies's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
I understand the frustration of the league allowing checking, especially when you are short. I'm 5' 0.5", so I totally understand. Though I actually find sometimes being shorter helps more than being tall. You have a lower center of gravity. It also helps that I'm built a little tougher than most short people. If I was in The Lord Of the Rings I'd be a tough hobbit or a dwarf. -
Hi! Welcome! I like your list of favourite characters. It is really close to my own. Have you read Warbreaker? And on that note, which Sanderson books have you read?

Okay. Here's a cracker for you. *hands Experience a cracker* But you can now no longer hear any sound below the key of high C. I ask for the ability to be able to communicate with anyone regardless of language or communication barriers. -

A nice -but generic- Link picture. 7 points, plus 1 point for the background being the same white as the boxes (that makes me happy for some reason) 8/10 -
I see. Inside a box. Then switching bodies might work. Dragons are also an option, like I said. They don’t really have to follow any rules of physics or anything like that.

Ooh. Best quest. Well, a dragon has to pop up somewhere in the quest. In my opinion dragons should always be a part of any quest. And you know, I’m pretty sure there are at least a couple races of beings who would be willing to help a person out, for the right price, or if the person does something for them. Which would cause a couple mini quests inside the main quest, which would cause it to take a bit longer.

Now we need more snacks. *pulls out popcorn and sweet chilli heats* I kinda surmised from stalking the older pages that we kind of just talk about random stuff on here. I like random. And interesting.

*catches the candy* Thanks. *pulls beanbag chair out from nowhere* This place is cozy. A little empty at the moment but it has potential. Good night DramaQueen, see you tomorrow, or today, whenever you come back.

Yes, I would love a jolly rancher. And grape and cherry are all right. The green one is the best though.

We figured out how to change our colours. So you can tell the difference. If you don't want to you don't have to. But it would be nice. -

1 Million Posts Celebration!!
Cosmical Existence replied to Experience's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Wow! 1 Million posts is definitely a reason to celebrate. 1)Why you joined 17th Shard I can't remember how I found the 17th, I think it had to do with the Coppermind. Yah, that's how I came to be here. I was researching the Cosmere (specifically Hoid and his shenanigans) and I found out that there was a community of Sanderson fans out there that had ideas, theories, and lots of fun. 2)The impact the Shard has had on you since you joined The Shard has impacted me is ways that is hard to explain. I think it is amazing knowing there are people out there who have been impacted by Sanderson's work just like I was. And not just knowing of them, I now know them. Which is an incredible experience. 3)Any fun memories/ anything else that you have enjoyed about the Shard. I haven't been on here long enough to get many memories yet, but I know that there will be many interesting and fun memories to come.- 114 replies

[Generic introduction title.]
Cosmical Existence replied to Rutherfox's topic in Introduce Yourself!
I recommend reading Legion. I know its not that well liked or known, but in my humble opinion it was a good book. Welcome to the 17th. Add-on: Oh, and your profile picture is cool. What is the story behind it? -

I think everyone is a Kelsier guy at heart, deep down. Even the Lord Ruler. Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! I think you are going to love it here. Do you have a favourite magic system? -
I will stand with you if it comes to that. I've always liked Adolin. I think it is admirable that he tries to put his own spin on things, with his fashion choices, with how he acts towards others, or how he is so attached to his blade. I like how he is loyal, but not blindly loyal. And I love how this chapter gave us so many reasons to love him. His interactions with Syl and Kaladin, how he is respectful towards The Three, and how he is just trying to help people in his own way. I'm hoping Brandon continues to treat Adolin right. I agree completely. Though I'm pretty sure there will be some people who come out of sessions with him even more mental than they were going in. Just the by-product of the fact that not everyone appreciates the way Hoid deals with problems and lessons (see pretty much everyone's interactions with him as Wit). His couple scenes with Shallan are some of my favourites, I find it interesting how fascinated with her he is. I wonder what he would think of the issues she's been having with her personalities (the ones that Radiant was hinting at in this chapter).

Hockey Players!
Cosmical Existence replied to Bearer of all agonies's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
We can't be the only hockey players on a forum of this side. That's just crazy. Hi! I play left wing or center. I've played on a rural team, church hockey with my dad, and a girls league. I haven't played on an actual league in a long time, but my friends and I play it for fun at the local arena every once in a while. My favourite NHL team is Vancouver Canucks, and it has been my favourite team since I was old enough to know what the NHL was. I am not just somebody who jumped on the band wagon when they were doing good. -

Yes, it is.

I actually read Steelheart way back in 2014, and to be honest I wasn't really a big fan of the series. That put me off of any of Brandon Sanderson's work for a long time, even though I had a bunch of people around me telling me I should read them. Finally last year I read Mistborn, and I was hooked. The Reckoners are now the only books by Brandon that I do not like. Everything else I've read, I've loved. Including Skyward. And I am definitely glad my friends kept pushing me to read his books.
-
Whoa whoa whoa. That is a rabbit hole I was choosing NOT to follow. But yikes, if that's going to be the case it would be chaos (not that the Stormlight books aren't chaos already), and I don't know if Brandon would be able to pull it off. Though it would be interesting to see that path, and it would be way to explore some Radiant stuff not seen before, I don't think I'm ready to see Pattern die. Or Adolin die. Or Shallan not heal from the trauma of her past. I want to see her come to grips with the truth of what her family was, and what she did. I want her to find herself, not just as ways to survive, but as a way to thrive. I need her to overcome the lies. If Brandon can do that through her breaking her oaths, I will accept that. But if he uses her just to be a experiment in Radiant's breaking their oaths, without using that to help her heal... that is a fate that Shallan does not deserve.
