Theory: Truthwatchers swear no oaths beyond the First Ideal...
Hen replied to robardin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Cool idea! I don’t think it’s possible. Their oaths are more about universal truth, not something as personal as dares. Besides, I think Renarin wanted to join Bridge 4 to fit in, and not because of a dare. Though it would be funny to see a Lightweaver and Truthwatcher going at it over a game of truth or dare. The game ends up making them swear their ideals on accident. The Lightweaver answers the question “who do you like”, which ends up being their oath, and forever and always they will remember their stupid schoolyard crush that they regret like nothing else. -
Really the problem with Korra is they didn’t know if there would be another season or not, so they made each season it’s own individual arch, which makes it hard to connect with the characters (personally) and each new season feels strained and disconnected. My main problem with the show is they didn’t really make a new unique character... like cabbage dude. Everytime they needed something special, they used old characters, like Zuko or Iroh. But that’s my personal opinion. I actually really liked the first season (especially wan). Its actually not that bad of a show, it’s just compared to ATLA a lot, and since ATLA is legendary, it pales in comparison.

My favorite parts of the books are the prologs and epilogues. But yea I agree Kvothe isn’t great (I’m also not a huge fan of Denna ) But Patrick writes scenes beautifully which is why I still love the books.

I can also Truthwatchers and Lightweavers going at it. Their orders are very similar in terms of seeking truth, but I can see how they might step on each other’s toes a little bit. Especially someone like Shallan who has such a hard time with the truth, might simply be jealous of the Truthwatchers who have found it. (Like Kaladin, Who often is jealous of shallan ability to smile)

Truthwatchers: become so infatuated with the truth that they eliminate all privacy in the world. The don’t let people have personal lives or walls to hold up at all. You went in a different direction with this, (which is great I like where you went with it) but “dark orders” also makes me think of Renarin and his whole deal, and how each of the different orders would be effected by corrupt spren. (Also, what if Sja-Anat teamed up with with the Radiants to make a certain number of corrupt spren so that those other powers would be a available to the Radiants (like suborders)).

*Covers Microphone with hand* *muffled voices* "Do we have enough pancakes for three people?" "Yes, but these are edgedancers we are talking about" *Inaudible* Okay Radiants! Have eating your pancakes! *backs away slowly very quickly*

Ene slides ahead of A.C., and suddenly plants her feet into the ground, pulling A.C. and Dice forward. A.C. does the same motion, and Dice slingshots forward into the water of the purelake. He Brings forward Ene and A.C. to bask in their victory. Lift pulls up behind them, splashing in the lake, frustrated. NattyBo still sits in Azir... having succumbed to the Waffles.
-
Ene comes up from behind, passing in front of A.C. and Dice, she grasps hands with A.C.s free hand to help with the sling shot. The Purelake is in sight, will they pull it off in time?
-
The contestants are nearing the finish line... Its close... A.C. and Dice are... Holding hands? Looks as if they are going to slingshot each other to the finish line to beat Lift. Will it work?
-
But if Highstorms aren't a perpendicularity, then what are they?

What skills have you learned during Quarantine?
Hen replied to NattyBo's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I have become an expert at watching Survivor. I've also been trying a lot of random projects. Like painting rocks, knitting, embroidery. Yesterday I took one of those old wood palates and upcycled it into a board, and I'm making it into a string art Piano for my friend. So. Many. Nails. -
It seems Lift used the Waffles as a decoy so she could join the race! Its now A.C. and Dice tied for first, with lift following close behind!
-
And A.C. Pulls ahead! It seems Dice, Ene, and Nattybo have all been distracted by something at the starting line... something that smells good... a-are those waffles? *shakes head and snaps back into focus*
-
Alright, let’s race! We are starting in Azir, where the awesomest edgedancer is currently eating her weight in pancakes. The first person get to the pure lake wins! Ready Set Go! (winner gets to eat themselves silly with pancakes in front of everyone else) (and bragging rights. You get those to)

I guess Since I grew up watching it, the climax (and whole show) has a special place in my heart, so Ive always felt like it delivered for me.

I'm just curious what everyones favorite season/Episode/scenes are, sooo here's mine: Best season is definitely season 3 Best episode is when Sokka gets his sword... Or the tales of ba sing se... Or Secret tunnel... Or all of them. Best scene though? Azulas and Zukos agnikai. From their fighting styles, to the music thats played, everything in that scene is stunning. It gives me chills. (Though Iroh singing "Little soldier boy" Is a very close second.)

it definitely fits. It would give kal a chance to understand why Gavilar was killed, though I don't know if he would connect the dots. (Maybe after a good long talk with Venli though... )

We should have a race. Though you should know i'd probably win because of my transportation Awesomeness.

looks like its got some adventure too, which is great! Sounds similar to Anthem by Ayn rand, where he has a number for a name and is forced to be a street sweeper. Pretty much the whole time, when he talks about himself, he says "We" instead of "me" or "I" to emphasize the fact that he is part of a society. Thank you! Ill check these out.

The Davinci code is good! its a cool code solving book thats Interesting, and a little like national treasure. I'm looking for a good Dystopian, but something a little more complex and undiscovered then, for example, the giver. Any suggestions?

Okay, so we have a pretty good idea that The Girl Who Looked Up is going to be important to some degree, but what about Fleet? These are the WoB's we have on it. (I might have missed one, but these are the two that seemed important.) So we know from these that 1. Fleet is likely just a legend and 2.Fleet is foreshadowing something. Its also worth note that Hoid mentions fleet is a common story, though Kaladin had never herd it (Maybe a story from another world? though I don't think this is likely) The question then becomes, what is Fleet foreshadowing, and has it already been covered in WoR/Oathbringer or is it for RoW and beyond? The obvious answer is that Fleet was to give strength to Kal to save Elhokar in WoR. Personally I believe that its more then that. There's always another secret. Kaladin, in Oathbringer, failed to swear the 4th Ideal. Fleets story has to do with Kal finding the courage to keep running. We know that Rhythm of War has one of Brandons favorite stormlight scenes, and Im hoping that the two are going to be connected. Thoughts?
