But syl mentions beetles which means that's what they call them...

Which would imply they are different than cremlings, right?

I think beetles on Roshar makes sense.

Either they came from Ashyn like all the other Earth stuff or Roshar independently evolved creatures that look and act like beetles, which is far from unlikely.

  3. I'm starting a stormlight reread and an just going to include my ideas/theories as to what each of the death rattles may be talking about. ----- "The love of men is a frigid thing, a mountain stream only three steps from the ice. We are his. Oh Stormfather . . . we are his. It is but a thousand days, and the Everstorm comes." The second half obviously refers to the Everstorm. As for the first half, my guess is that 'his' is referring to Odium. Not sure what love has to do with it, but love is an emotion usually tied to passion, so maybe that's what it is? ----- "You've killed me. Bastards, you've killed me! While the sun is still hot, I die!" This could be referring to many different people. I wonder if the reference to the sun is of importance at all, and it is more of a spiritual death which would make me think that this is a shard or something similar speaking. ----- "Ten orders. We were loved, once. Why have you forsaken us, Almighty! Shard of my soul, where have you gone!" Okay, so I think that this is a radiant speaking, and my guess is that the Shard of his soul is likely a spren that the radiant used to be bonded to, but either died or left. Also, assuming this is talking about the future, something probably happens again that make it so that the general public no longer revere the radiants. ----- "A man stood on a cliffside and watched his homeland fall into dust. The waters surged beneath, so far beneath. And he heard a child crying. They were his own tears." I mean, this could be like Dalinar o Kaladin. But this really makes me think of Taravangian. Like he totally seems like someone who would let his homeland be destroyed for the greater good but still mourn for the evil he was doing. I'm not sure how much being Todium will change that though. ----- I'll keep adding to this as I read more.
  4. GM HQ Rekker finally finds the correct button, and hesitates upon hearing what the Subject was saying. He looks over at Epiphany who shrugs. Rekker shakes his head and presses the button. In the arena The hologram disappears. GM HQ Rekker looks up at his twin. "Piph, you can't do that! If we interfere with the subjects, it will change the results of the tests. We can't afford to do that!" His sister looks down, appearing bashful, but Rekker knows she doesn't really feel that way. He looks up at the screen. "We can't afford weakness. The future of everything depends on us."
  5. The falsetto voice responds, "Rek doesn't want to talk with you. I'm sorry." GM HQ Rekker fumbles through the user manual that he had created, trying to find the instructions to turn off the communications.
  6. "I'm Epiphany, how are you?" a falsetto voice replies from somewhere. "Piph, stop! You can't interfere with the Subjects!" another deeper voice says.
  7. GM HQ Rekker watches the ferret closely on a screen. Unkown variable introduced. Cause unknown. Purp- "Rek, it looks like one of the Tributes is trying to talk to us..." "Hmm?" Rekker looks over absentmindedly at his sister to see her pressing a button. "Wait, don't pre-" In the Arena A small holographic screen appears before Mark, and you can see some chairs and a mostly blank wall. Nobody is on the screen.
  8. oooh were almost to page 2000
  9. I may be able to play. I'll know by tonight what my schedule will be next week and I'll let you know.
  10. Snails taste good.
  11. GM HQ, a random room away from everyone Rekker lays down his most recent notes on the ground, adding it to the hundreds of pages littering the floor. After a few moments of searching, he finds the page he is looking for and starts writing. Subjects have performed better than expected. Still no deaths. Humans are more resilient than predicted. A shadow suddenly covers the small amount of light peeking underneath the door, and Rekker hurriedly stands up to block whoever it was from seeing his precious work. The door opens, and Epiphany peeks in. Rekker lets out an unvoluntary sigh of relief. "Oh, it's just you." "Just me?" she responds, light-hearted. Rekker smiles. "You know what I mean." "So, what have you found?" "I think the time is long overdue." He spins the pen around his finger before writing once more. Prediction: Not all Subjects will survive the next phase.
  12. Rekker writes. Subject deaths wanted. Sending storm to form bonds. Prediction: Death by Betrayal.
  13. "Perhaps a storm? A storm would force subjects together, then we can pressure them to do what they are meant to do."
  14. GMHQ Rekker doesn't take his eyes off of the screen, curiously watching a chase through the forest. "Death rate is none. Prediction: Subjects will not engage in deadly activities until forced to do so," he replies absently.
  15. @Edema Rue It's been a while.
  16. GM HQ "Precisely as expected." Rekker narrows his eyes, but is currently distracted by the other conversation. I'll have to talk to Piph about him later.
  17. GM HQ Rekker appears puzzled for a moment. Oh. He is trying to make conversation. How odd. "Notes about the subjects, about how they act and evolve under pressure. These notes are the reason I am here. They are my life."
  18. GM HQ "Notes," Rekker simply responds, then returns his not-so-friendly gaze upon Gavin.
