The number of things that rep can mean.

"I find this amusing."

"I feel sympathy for you."

"This was a beautiful piece of (art, writing, etc.)"

"You made me feel [this emotion]"

"Thank you!"

"You put a lot of effort into this."

"I'm bored and decided to give rep to random people."

"I feel obligated to upvote this."

"This has a lot of upvotes, so I might as well do it too."

"You have very few upvotes and so I'm giving you sympathy rep."

"Somebody told me to rep you."
