  1. I have a few updates, I guess. Read them at your leisure:

    Teen Author Boot Camp:

    Spoiler

Best two and a half days heckin' evah! I drove up to Utah last Thursday (for ten hours), checked into our hotel room, then went and had dinner with none other than @Condensation and @Vapor. They have the bestest cats and also stupid chicken birds. We went and harassed Connie at her drama this-and-that, baked cookies to whatever montage songs they could think of, then just hung out for awhile until I had to leave.

Friday I went to the mall with Vapor, @Tesh, and @AonEne (Connie was at some competition or whatever). Bear in mind that Ene works at the BEST STORE ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET, and if y'all are ever in the Salt Lake area you should totally go check it out. It had rocks and socks and clocks and knicks and knacks and stacks of stickers and stuff. 'Twas awesome. We just hung out, spent too much money, and then peaced out so we could all do our various us-things.

That night was the Anthology release, which was awesome because yours truly happens to be in there! I got a free copy, some random swag, and also twenty dollars (addressed very officially to me in the form of a good ol' crispy Jackson). I was there with Tesh and Ene, and after the release conference itself (which was at the Provo library) we went and explored the shelves for cool stuffs.

Their Sanderson section is rather lacking.

Saturday was TABC itself. I was at the conference with Tesh, meaning we got to hang out and talk about writing for like eight hours straight! It was muchly fun and quite helpful, though I was tired as heck by the time it was over. I took some good notes and whatnot. Do yourselves a solid and ask me about the stuff I learned if you wanna hone your abilities to the edge.

And then that night was the most chaotic I've ever participated in. It was Con, Vaps, Tesh, and I all hanging out in their basement; eating cookies, tormenting the cat (nicely), playing board games, listening to music, and losing brain cells at an exponential rate. We lost Pandemic in about five minutes, and started playing Call to Adventure but failed to complete it due to permanent loss of mental function. Ask @DoomStick for details as to what happened that night: I honestly don't remember a thing.

Driving home was the worst. I wanted to cry.

    :(

    The Iconar Collective:

    Spoiler

So y'all might've heard about a little summat I've been writing. There're a few chapters of the rough draft in a thread buried deep within the Creative Corner, and after finishing a manuscript I've moved onto redrafts. This is basically my Stormlight Archives in terms of projects, 'cause it's supposed to be really epic and sprawling and awesome.

    And it's terrible.

    It sucks.

Iconar as all y'alls know it is boring, pointless, and lame. The worldbuilding is stupid, the storyline is nonsensical, and all of it is just really dull.

Now, some of you might be offended by this. I'm aware that pretty much everyone who's read my stuff is under the impression that my stuff is "awesome" and "well-written." I've received congratulatory praise for the world, characters, and prose. And that was all wonderful... but unnecessary.

    Here's a list of problems:

    • The overarching worldbuilding is inconsistent. There weren't any real rules defining how the gods work, the ideals of each realm, or anything like that. The magic makes no sense.
    • A trilogy? Why? Trilogies are so overdone. I'm limiting myself to a compressed storyline for my magnum opus. Like a moron.
    • By biggest issue: What is wrong with the world? I stopped myself at realism; for epic fantasy. I was so bent on having realistic armies and castles and swords and magic that I forgot to make it awesome.

So, basically, y'all can expect it all to change. It'll still follow a lot of the same characters and a similar story in a similar world, but it's going to be way cooler soon. Way cooler.

    Other writing projects:

    Spoiler
    • CityState Boogaloo: This one's gonna be a saga of novella/short stories (akin to Legion) taking place in a really cool sci-fi world. I'm almost done the first story in the series, and I definitely think it's worth sharing. It's got guns and bombs and spaceships and all sorts of cool stuffs.
    • Ayia's Backstory: People in FotT know this salty knockout lass with the epic magic staff skills. There's not much I can tell you about this now, other than that I'm writing it because:
      • a] she's an awesome character, and
      • b] she's in an awesome world.
    • Another projecty thingy: There's literally next to nothing that I can tell you about this other than that it's also sci-fi and that it'll also be heckin' awesome
    • Mishmash Inn: Remember that one RP? The one that died in just a week or two? I'm repurposing it into a story. Because I wanna.
    • Other stuff? Maybe? I dunno. Y'all know how weird my brain is.

Also I need to post stuff to my art thread. I'll go do that now.

    Bye!

I'm so sorry Rev, I genuinely feel terrible for forgetting to contact you... Hopefully we'll get another chance either before you leave or when you come back, though.

Can confirm my store is awesome and everyone should stop by  also it was hilarious when you guys opened the bags to find the $20 bills. Like, understandable that they'd pay you that way! But still funny.
