  1. Do we know if it's actually true of if in that only applies to current day Skybreakers? Current day Skybreakers would agree, I'd say they just don't understand their oaths I still think it's included in the 4th Oath but it's possible Er... wouldn't that contradict the Ideal of Radiance?
  2. Well, it seems obvious you could already have created Harmony's mist back in Era 1 and So most likely yes
  3. Every single person in the books say that Renarin's Illumination doesn't works as it works the same way as it works for other Truthwatchers, for whom it basically do the same as it does for Lightweavers
  4. He's not using Surges though
  5. I misremembered what Brandon exactly said, it can be interpreted both way Honestly yours doesn't create cover the whole creation of the Cosmere either since you assumed energy was conserved. I think Dawnshards are fragments of a greater command, probable Be or Exists, that Adonalsium used to create energy and he then fractured them in our four and used them to shape the three words My current hypothesis on the Dawnshars is @Kingsdaughter613's Change/Connect/Endure/Aspire (which to be fair is quite close of yours) in that framework the 1st principle and Newton's 1st and 3rd laws would be made by the Endure Dawnshard and gravity (according to Syl, an agreement between friends) would be made by the Connect Dawnshard Sorry I had missed that sentence of your original post. I guess we're just seeing Endowment differently. Ruin is more irreversible change than destructive change (He's the 2nd principle) but the two concept are very close But it's not what Dominion is, it could have been but it's not That makes sense, Devotion seems to consider Mercy to indeed be forgiveness We have a few reasons to belive the Remain Dawnshard is on Scadrial so I don't belive all of them are there. Also, spoilers for Sequel of the Dusk (kind of, I didn't read it I'm repeating what I hear) I didn't say change = shattering, I said shattering ∈ Change It's not true but it's true enough, especially for Chemistry where the difference between what he said and what happen doesn't matter. If you use friction to heat something you'll necessarly damage the surface of the object so it's no longer exaclty the same. When an atom emit a photon then gain back energy in an other way it doesn't get back to the exact same state but for what Gilbert Lewis was talking about it doesn't matter. Honestly it's probably clause enough to the truth to theorise You didn't need to @ me, quoting someone already pings them
  6. That was not light matter interaction, that was Illusions with a mass which is insanely different. Light-matter interaction is how the matter absorb, emit, slow and deviate light. I'm not sure what you mean, do you mean the Stormlight itself could pump the crystal it's in? it might. It's really not. Pumping via Illumination is really far from what it's supposed to do you cannot do that unintentionally be done and it cannot be done intentionally without quanta theory Of course Harmony appears to be able to make his people jump some tech level (even if he doesn't do it) so Honour probably can too (and Science obviously can)
  7. No, it you really cannot. To create a Laser you need a pumping effect and neither Transformation nor Illumination would help for that unless you understand how pumping works, and for that you need the quanta theory We're debating how quickly they can get to it, of course they can't have spaceships yet but it's less obvious they can't have laser in two decades Stop talking about the light. The issue to create Lasers is light-matter interaction not light.
  8. It's literally impossible to invent laser before the quanta theory, which in our world was invented literally the same year as special relatively (and it was Einstein who found it, that guy was a genius)
  9. They didn't show any hint of being able to do that. Renarin on the other hand did with his ball of light At this point you're just soulcasting a Laser into existence, which is something they can do but is obviously not what Brandon wast talking about
  10. By the way, some of what's needed to make efficient Lasers is closer to Renarin's Void of Illumination than Shallan's Surge of Illumination. This is exactly what I was talking about in my previous line Pretty sure CO2 laser are pretty bad if what you want is power. And Soulcasters don't allow to create Rubies and Sapphires so you'd have to use dye based Lasers
  11. Yes but Elantris was centuries before TFE and Frustration brought up the Illumination laser so I'm making assumptions too I could say the same for Illumination laser, since both the Ire and the 17th Shards seems to have figured out how to have Elantrians work offword so I think it's safe to assume by the time that hypothetical war happen they'll know how to use it at least from everywhere in Sel. It's possible that having a united Sel is enough for that to happen by the way Also it's insanely unfair to assume the Radiant can move offworld if the Elantrians cannot, the former is harder than the latter Then cannot yet but we have WoB that they will. But the three other too so that's just mutual destruction Not if you have the bombs explode if it detect someone closer than 10 meters Also, I've seen no one mention it so I assume we're ignoring insanities such as Chana or Ash wielding Change or Ishar wielding the Dawnshard known to bind mortal and voidish creature alike?
  12. Aon Daa can definitely do that. And we have yet to see Aon magitech beside the Ashe illuminating plates but there are definitely ways to do Daa rocket launchers, Ashe lasers guns, Edo halfshards and maybe even Shao Soulcasters. Also you can have Seon manifest as Shardblades
  13. Wait, what? When did that happen?
  14. There are ways to use Sel's magics offworld, and note that "using a F-Durlamin medallion" would not only work, but be considered on the harder end of ways to do it. Also, Aon Sheo
  15. El was He Who Quiets. Might have more than one title but it seems unlikely
  16. I'm not sure how I like the Syladin ship, didn't Kal say he saw her as an annoying little sister? Kelsier is more likely the same thing as a Fused than the same as what Ishar is doing
  17. So, if Harmony switch to Discord...
  18. You can only have metal from a Shard combination that actually exists so that part is not a problem. Not, the issue is that there's a reason we say Lerasium and not Preservatium, when a new Vessel hold a Shard the properties of Godmetal created afterwards change slightly (I suspect there'd be a way to make Ettmetal that doesn't explode for example) and I have no idea whether that include it's Allomantic properties.
  19. That one is common to all Dawnshards I can't remember a definite confirmation but Honour raved about the Knights using the Dawnshards to destroy Roshar so it's at least heavily implied The fact that the Cognitive Realm exists and most non-living things have a mind a lot of things that should only be applicable to life are actually applicable to everythings I had considered putting her here in my own theory but ended up not doing so because I was putting her there for the same reason as Cultivation, I'm curious as to why you made the opposite choice Dominion is to much closely linked to the idea of Conquest to be an aspect of Conserve/Remain That'd make three Dawnshards in the Rosharan system which is far too much. And both the Change and the Dawnshard know to bind[...] would be able to cause the destruction of Ashyn I don't see why you'd need the Propel Dawnshard to create the effect of Shattering, just the Change one should be enough The Shattered plains were destroyed by a static sound wave, it's symmetric because that's how static sound wave works, in my opinion a 5th Oath Boundsmith or Stoneward should be enough to shatter the plains. I really don't understand why you're putting Mercy here, shouldn't they be in the Conserve/Remain quadrant? The quantum physicist in me cringes at the radiation part, the rest cringes at the friction part, but please carry on. Now that theory is fascinating, especially since
  20. No, that one'd be Dalinarium
  21. We know what 17 of them do and have an idea of what 2 of them do Atiums allow have cognitive an temporal effect so that can't be, sorry. Maybe Lerasium-Cadmium would do that?
  22. It doesn't, infinity is so weird that sometimes there's not enough of it
  23. "Allomancy is now a soft magic system" - @Frustration
  24. Yes, there is a way to do it one one step. If the order mattered, for the first Shard you'd have 16 possibilities and 15 for the second, that's 16*15 ordered pairs. Since there's are two possible way to order two Shards, I can just divide by two to get the number of unordered pairs, 16*15/2=120 For the triples I can do a similar reasoning, for the ordered triplets you have 16 possibilities for the first, 15 for the second and 14 for the third and there is 3!=6 ways to order a triplet, therefore 16*15*14/6=560 More generally if you have a set of n distinct object, the number of way to take k among them is n!/(k!*(n-k)!) (note that 0!=1 so it still works for n=k or k=0). If you do the simplification for k=2 you get n!/(2!*(n-2)!)=n*(n-1)/2!=n*(n-1)/2 and for k=3 you have n!/(3!*(n-3)!)=n*(n-1)*(n-2)/3!=n*(n-1)*(n-2)/6 semi-comprehensible. As a physicist I agree with her interpretation
