  1. “I’m not going to leave because of a curse.” Said Moni. “But if you want me to leave now, I will.” Warning light immediately flashed on Malevolence’s bracer. He glanced at them, unsurprised. Plan alpha, I think. He tapped his bracer, and deep beneath the surface of Ivisyre’s world, machinery whirred to life. With a crackle of lightning and a burst of ennulling energy to prevent any Narrative shenanigans, the entire vault vanished, teleported off to who-knows where. Malevolence smiled. “I suppose I will have to hope that my precautions will keep Bacon restrained within the vault. I did manage to sneak in quite a bit of Nullite into the design.” He hefted Darkseeker, testing its weight. “I assume you’ll try to beat the vault’s location out of me?” @xinoehp512 (so you know the vault was teleported)
  2. Moni stumbled back, one arm up to shield her face from debris. "I'm not trying to force you to do anything! I just want to help!" Unintelligible looked at Sequence, worry covering his face. "There's no time to leave her here. I'm taking her with us." He grimaced. "Now open the portal. We can't waste any time." "Yes." Malevolence whispered. Then he tapped a finger to his wrist. Malevolence's Evil Communicator appeared in a crackle of Lightning. He spun a dial on the device, then spoke, voice and an image of him sent by the machine throughout the entire Thread, audible to every character and Author. Malevolence stood tall, violet eyes confident, shoulder length white hair blowing in the wind behind him. By his side he held Cowardice, a dagger made roughly from fused chunks of Mordite. "Greetings. I am Malevolence, evil scientist, betrayer of Malan, graduated villainous intern. And, most importantly, future bearer of the mantle of the Witherlord." As Malevolence spoke, a dim aura of darkness began to gather around Cowardice. He continued on, voice gaining intensity. "I had hidden this intent, thinking to strike from the shadows and take the Mantle, but now I realize that this is weakness. So I tell you now, and I tell you truly: I, Malevolence, shall be the Witherlord. I do not seek this out of blind lust for power, but out of my understanding of one simple fact:" Malevolence's eyes gleamed, Cowardice entirely hidden by an expanding bubble of darkness. "Sacrifices must be made for the greater evil. Who besides myself is worthy of this title? Rebus? The fool thinks to control the Witherlord, bring about its sure end. I will not seek to control the Witherlord; I will bring about a new age of darkness!" The darkness around Cowardice had expanded to cover nearly all of Malevolence. Only his eyes were visible, burning with evil passion as his declaration reached crescendo. "I will rend this Thread in shadow and death! I will be the Witherlord, and all light shall dwindle and die before me! I AM MALEVOLENCE! FEAR MY NAME!" At these last words, The darkness around Cowardice imploded in a burst of rushing wind, revealing the weapon's new form: A pure black axe with a handle as long as Malevolence was tall. He looked at it, and instinctively knew the weapon's new name: Darkseeker. Malevolence brought the weapon down on the Evil Communicator, rending it in two and cutting of the transmission. Then he looked up at Ivisyre. "So, you have heard my confession. Will you try and stop me?" @xinoehp512 @Ookla the Knight @Ookla The Kintsukuroi @Dragonheir @Ookla the Uncreative Name @Ookla the Wanderer @Ookla the Tachyon @Ashkaloda
  3. Unintelligible nodded. "Of course. Eepy, could your tears could help her hands?" Malevolence nodded. "Of course. I'll detect any attempt to " He gestured to Inversion. "The Dreamsmith's make, yes? I have one like it." He drew Cowardice, spinning the Mordite dagger on his palm. Then he stopped, staring into the depths of the blade's reflective surface. It struck him, suddenly. What he was doing. The Dreamsmith had named this Blade Cowardice. Truly, he had named it so. How. Malevolence wondered. Can I call myself a great villain if I merely skulk in the shadows? Evil is always unexpected, but true evil has no need to hide in fear. Malevolence looked up at Ivisyre, a confidence returning to his eyes that had been absent since before the last absence of Nameless. "I must confess something. I created that vault, not just to keep the Lost Pages from Rebus, but because of the opportunity it would give me to claim them for myself. I, Malevolence, will be the one to summon the Witherlord. I will claim that power, and become the greatest evil this Thread has ever seen." Unintelligible hesitated, then, slowly, shook his head. "Thank you for offering, but I think... think we can save her in time. If this cure doesn't work, then I'll take you up on your offer." Moving quickly but carefully, he scooped Sequence up in his arms. "Alright rabbit. Talk." The rabbit huddled down in its cage, muscles tense. "The one who controlled us... enslaved us... the Great One, the Dark One. He hides. Hides from us, from his former friends, from the eye of the Thread. But I... I know where he is." An image blossomed in Ryver's mind. An image of a tall metal gate barring the pathway up towards a shadowed manor, dark clouds billowing overhead. Unintelligible looked at Ryver. "Ryver? Can you take us there?" "I'm Moni. My full name is Moniker, and I was an Avatar of Nameless. Now I'm just a person, I guess." Moni held out a hand to Atlas. "I can take you somewhere safe. Safe from anyone who might try to hurt you. And I'll let you leave anytime you want, I promise." She glared at Rebus again. "This man is not a good person. You don't want to go with him."
  4. "He can lead us to someone who might be able to help Sequence." Unintelligible said. "It's the best option we've got." "Willing? Yes. Able?" Malevolence shrugged. "We fought once before. It... did not end in total victory for me." He sighed. "To tell the truth, although I was not utterly helpless, I was certainly outmatched. And that was before he claimed Antagonist."
  5. "I'm fine on my own." Unintelligible stepped out of the room. A moment later, Cadewyn heard a few harsh whispers. Unintelligible stepped back into the room. "The rabbit says he'll talk." "He has deposited them." Malevolence affirmed. "But he has not given up possession of them." A small drone flew up beside Ivisyre and projected an image, showing Bacon sitting in the vault. "It seems he did not trust the safety mechanisms I, Sequence, and Cricket created." Lyric passed straight through the wall, and Jack, pulled through after him, did likewise. "See? There is no issue, so long as... hm. This might be a little tricky." Moni stepped out of nowhere in front of Rebus and Atlas. "There you are. Atlas, right? I saw you back on Sequence's world, and wondered how you were doing." She noticed Rebus, and her expression hardened. "What are you doing with him?"
  6. "No amount would cure Sequence." Unintelligible said softly. "She didn't heal even when she had her Narration." He hesitated. "I don't know how much Narrativium would be needed to stabilize her. At this point, she might be too far gone for that to help." Unintelligible nodded. "Yes. I managed to do that much, at least." He stood, walking over to the rabbit. "You rest. I will... finish convincing the rabbit to help us." He picked up the cage and walked into the other room. Malevolence returned Ivisyre's look, violet eyes thoughtful. "That depends. What are your feelings towards the Witherlord's return? Will you seek to kill Bacon and claim the lost pages? Or will you oppose Rebus, alone, without allies, just you and one of the most dangerous fools to ever live?"
  7. "I don't know." Unintelligible admitted. "I doubt she'll live long unless Ivisyre decided to heal her for some reason." Unintelligible hugged Sequence back. "I... thanks. It's not true... but... thanks." He took a deep breath. "Anyways, we need to focus on you. Is your wound worsening?" Malevolence's voice spoke in Ivisyre's mind, courtesy of his patented evil-phone technology. I believe we should speak about the vault on your world. I take it you do not intend to transfer the paper to Rebus, an intent I too share. Do you intend to take up full responsibility for the paper's protection? Or shall I still be allowed access to the vault's management? "Well in that case, we shall leave! We shall consider this outside of the Sage's area of influence." Lyric pointed straight towards a wall and extended a hand to Jack. "Take my hand, and I shall lead us out." Jim I think that's his name at least it's been a while. leaned closer to the gnome. "Excuse me, but it seems like this MoashMobile is moving rather slowly. Could you speed it up a bit? The infection is quite worrying, and I would like to meet with this 'Wish' fellow."
  8. The Wall is a thing that prevents anyone from leaving the Thread. Enullers created it to prevent the escape of Narrators and withergeists, so they generally allow those who are not Narrators or withergeists to leave. (Or at least, don’t care enough to stop them). The Void is not contained by the Wall, but is the space between worlds, the native home of withergeists, from which they gnaw on the edges of reality. Reality can be torn in such a way that withergeists are unleashed into the world by breaking the fourth wall, messing with dangerous substances in a particularly stupid way, using a Mordite sword, etc. The Wall is, I believe, also the name of the organization of the Enullers who seek to protect the rest of reality from the dangers of Narrators and Withergeists.
  9. Unintelligible dropped the rabbit cage and caught Sequence before she hit the ground. “Are you okay?” He winced. “You’re obviously not okay. I… I’m sorry. I should’ve known Ivisyre would… I should have stayed and fought… I…” he hung his head. “I’m sorry, Sequence. I… I thought I could be a hero.
  10. Unintelligible gripped Endings. Its power flooded him, demanding to be used. To bring Ending, decay, death. He shivered, and the rational part of him was terrified of that power. There was a reason Nameless gave this to Moni, he realized. She's the one who could control it. Storms, what is wrong with this Plotblade? Endings shouldn't be like this. Endings should be good with bad, not just.... destruction. It was a small part of him that thought this, for the rest of Unintelligible burned with anger. Ivisyre had stolen Sequence's Narration. The only reason, he was sure, that Ivisyre had not killed Sequence outright was that her wound would surely soon kill her without Narration to sustain her. He growled, taking a step forward and beginning to raise Endings to accept Ivisyre's challenge. He would kill that monster here an now, save Sequence, and- The power of Endings, spreading outwards from Unintelligible, hit Resolution. For the briefest moment, the two Plotblades thrummed, vibrating in resonance with one another. In that instant, both Unintelligible and Cadewyn saw the Ending would come of fighting Ivisyre: Death, for both of them. Ivisyre triumphant. Too inexperienced with the Plotblades they wielded, Unintelligible and Cadewyn would fall before the might of Ivisyre, wielder of darkness and Inversion, Narrator. They could not win. Not here, where Ivisyre was most powerful. Both of them would die, leaving Sequence powerless, vulnerable, alone. The moment ended, and the power of Endings recoiled from Resolution. The bubble of decay that had been spreading out from Unintelligible vanished in an eyeblink, leaving him gasping, holding a tiny, rusted dagger. What... what just... Unintelligible shook himself. Feeling a coward, but also knowing this was the right decision, he slammed Endings back into its sheath, and after hesitating for a moment longer, tossed it back to Moni. "Cadewyn!" He called. "We're leaving! There's... there's no use in getting ourselves killed here." He glanced around. Ryver had taken Sequence and run, which was good. But where had he gone? A portal split the air in front of Unintelligible, opening into a house, where Sequence and Ryver sat. Unintelligible frowned, confused, but ran for the portal anyways. Just outside the portal he noticed a cage, which he grabbed before dashing through. @KnightSkye Reforged Malevolence's grin faded. "And what, pray tell, would my motivations be for that?" "Excellent!" Lyric looked around the room, grabbing Jack's hand. "Follow me deeper into the mall? Or shall we exit, assuming that the Sage does not wish to see you?"
  11. Unintelligible pulled Endings from its sheath, unleashing a wave of power. The simple rusted dagger emanated decay, grass around Unintelligible’s feet dying in a spreading wave, dirt drying into dust. “What deal?” He growled. Malevolence grinned. “Horrible? But I am the man in control of the vault guarding the way to the Witherlord. Is it not natural that I should be concerned about villains who are eagerly looking forward to his return?” Malevolence nodded. “Wise. But will you aid Rebus in seeking the Mantle? Or will you seek out some other poor fool, one you deem more likely to give you the chaos you desire?” Plotblade give their users power over their specific aspect of Plot. For example, the Plotblade of Character development caused the user and everyone nearby to rapidly mutate and gain new powers. The Plotblade of Conflict gives the user the ability to fight evenly with any opponent, no matter how powerful they are. So Resolution would have powers related to resolving things.
  12. Subversion watched Ivisyre go, feeling another of those little twinges from her much-aggrieved conscience. She folded her arms, determined to let events play out as they would. — Unintelligible suddenly had a horrible sinking feeling in his stomach. His eyes widened. “Ryver, go check on Ivisyre. Right now.” @KnightSkye Reforged
  13. "That... is an interesting answer." Subversion considered. "Very well. I will grant you passage to Sequence's world." A portal appeared, opening into a murky darkness. "Step through there and you will be transported to a suitably dramatic location to take the good guys by surprise. If I were you, I'd act now. Once Sequence has returned, they will be much more difficult to deal with than they are now."
  14. "I see." Malevolence smiled companiably. "Let me be more blunt. Do you seek the power of the Witherlord?"
  15. "I like to keep tabs on all those who seek evil." Malevolence ran a hand through his long white hair. "Perhaps you are in need of assistance in your evil schemes?"
  16. Malevolence snorted. "My apologies. I did not mean to insult your... evil methods." He cocked his head as he spoke the last two words, adding a questioning inflection to his tone.
  17. Malevolence approach and Erdikan. He was holding what seemed to be a clump of jagged shards of black metal, fused together into the shape of a dagger. As he approached, he slid the weapon into a metallic sheath that formed around the irregular shape. "Hello . I've been meaning to speak with you. I heard you enjoy manipulating people?" "Interesting." Unintelligible rested a hand on the dagger, shivering at the sinister chill that spread up his arm. "So, Resolution. It seems... similar to Endings, which is odd. Normally Plotblades are fully unique." He frowned. "Actually, I've heard rumors of another Endings-related Plotblade out there. Perhaps I should look into that further." He shook his head. "But we should try to figure out Resolution's powers, at least a little, before we fight Ivisyre."
  18. No, that was me too. I read the Cosmere, then saw that Brandon had finished Wheel of Time and read through all that.
  19. "We should wait for Sequence to be ready, and get into position first." Unintelligible said, examining the armor Ryver had made for him. "What's this stuff made of?" As he spoke, Moni approached. She held the dagger of Endings, sheathed, in her right hand. She looked into Unintelligible's face searchingly. "You're sure this is absolutely necessary?" She asked softly. "There's no other way. Unintelligible nodded. "Yes, Moni. Sequence has tried everything short of killing Everyone to get them to stop being evil. There is no other way than to kill Everyone, and your Blade may be the only way to do it. I... we might be able to do it without Endings, but..." Moni nodded, and pressed the dagger into Unintelligible's hands. "But more people might get hurt. I understand, Unintelligible. Don't die trying to save Sequence this time, please." Unintelligible grinned wryly. "I'll do my best." Carefully, he strapped Endings to his side. "My price is simple." Subversion said. "Simply explain to me why you're evil. Precisely, why you don't care for the lives of others. Do this, and I will take you to Sequence's world, spicing up an otherwise bland execution of a villain who's overstayed their welcome." She laughed. "If you're convincing enough, I might even join you."
  20. Lyric looked confused, standing halfway through a wall. "You're seeing things?" He asked thoughtfully. "Perhaps the sage does not like inorganic life. I can see the way ahead clearly enough." -- Unintelligible got off the phone with Moni. "Alright, great! Cadewyn, the plan is a go. To explain, your Blade is actually a Plotblade, a fragment of an entity called Plot. It is called Resolution, and has power over that aspect of Plot. Moniker, who was the avatar of Nameless, hold Endings, another Plotblade. She's agreed to let me use it. Sequence wields Conflict. With those three Plotblades, we should be able to defeat Everyone." -- Subversion glanced at Ivisyre. "Looks like they're putting together quite a plan to stop you. By the time Ryver opens a portal for you, they'll be more than ready to stop you." She smiled. "If only someone with godlike powers were here, capable of transporting you there a little early." @Sequence@KnightSkye Reforged
  21. Yeah, I don’t count that since it’s not really Nameless, just a dark copy of him I keep on hand in case anybody gets too godmoddy. (And to traumatize Moni, naturally) And even if Malevolence were brainwashed successfully, it wouldn’t produce anything more than a single Luxite weapon. Which, admittedly, is more than you could get outside of time travel or Platypus-hunting.
  22. Would it be immune to antimatter annihilation?
  23. To be fair, the traveler has not done anything in a long while. Also
  24. Unintelligible winced at the sight of the wound. "We'll be okay. I'm going to see if Moni will agree to help with my plan." "I doubt that will help." Unintelligible said softly. "It's a particularly dangerous variety of wound, immune to basically any form of magical healing. Which is why she hasn't been able to heal it by herself." Unintelligible pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Hey, Moni? This is Unintelligible. Could you come over here? I have a favor to ask you."
