    Regulus found himself swelling at Arayna's praise. "Your help would be... much appreciated." He said. "This is my um, my first dragon that I've killed-er, fought. So... yeah, thanks." He quickly turned to peer past the stalagmite in order to hide the blush that rose to his cheeks at the awkward way he'd stumbled over words. The dragon had, owing to a combination of poor eyesight and the overpowering scent of smoke in the room obscuring any whiff of human that its ancient nose could have detected, concluded that its swipe had successfully killed the adventurer, and gone back to sleep.

    Pree did not mention his skepticism towards 9/10mmHB#2's casual disregard for Inkwell. The character clearly had some potential.

    Regulus, by this point starting to lose coherent thoughts to lack of oxygen, followed Arayna's lead out of the smoke. He coughed, trying to dispel the remaining smoke from his lungs. He looked up at his rescuer, eyes wide with shock and gratitude. His eyes widened further as the dragon swept its foreleg forwards in a vicious attempt to kill its target, vision too poor to see that its 'princess' would be caught in the crossfire. Regulus leapt forward, tackling Arayna to the ground just in time to avoid the dragon's wild swing. keeping hold of Arayna, Regulus rolled behind a rather large stalagmite. "Thanks." He whispered, as the confused dragon in the background looked for its prey. "You saved me. But you should probably run now. I'll handle the dragon." It should be noted that Regulus sounded exactly as unconfident as he felt in regards to his dragon-slaying capabilities. Nonetheless, he reached for his sword, determined to give this woman every chance to escape. Pree lay hidden in the grass nearby, out of sight of any of the gathered group.

    "Very well." Pree put the bracelet away. "Thanks for participating." He unclipped his pen, flipped a page on his clipboard, and was gone.

    Regulus flinched as the dragon opened its mouth to spew flames at him, certain he was dead. I should've realized it wasn't the talking type. He thought. He barely had time to gasp in horror as the smoke enveloped him, which turned out to be a serious mistake. Regulus fell to his knees in a fit of coughing, dropping his sword in the process. I hope, thought he, the kidnapped damsel takes this opportunity to escape.

    "Fair enough." Pree wrote something on his survey, then clipped his pen to his clipboard. "Thank you very much for participating. Would you mind if we carried out some light surveillance of you, to see how your story progresses?" He held up a metal bracelet. "This will collect information about your wellbeing, but it won't listen in on your conversations or anything like that."

    "Very well." Pree nodded. "That just about does it... oh, wait, just one more question. What would you say is your greatest weakness?"

    "Excellent." Pree carefully examined his clipboard. "Do you have any loved ones? Family, friends, etc.?" "Oh dear." The spider twiddled its front legs nervously. "Mischief, the man who sent you after Meat cannot want him for any good reason. In fact, if he wants him for the reason I think he does, then you should absolutely not bring Meat back to him."

    Pree looked affronted. "Why would I change that? I am merely a researcher. What do I have to do with antagonists and the evil?"

    "Ah, a classic TLT backstory."Pree checked another box. "Doesn't necessarily preclude the tragic backstory, however." He noted conversationally. "Just ask Moniker." He looked up from his clipboard. "Just a few more questions, then I'll be on my way. Do you have a core group of allies you plan to work with to reach your goals? If not, do you have plans to create or find such a group, or will you be working mostly alone?"

    "Mhm." Pree checked a box. "Do you have a tragic past?"

    "Really? Why ever not?" "I was once a shepherd of the crystal hills." Lyric said as if that explained everything. "Good, good." Pree scribbled down a note. "Let's see here... Have you ever had an evil nemesis?"

    "Oh? Why not?" Pree tilted his head "Are you not a newer generation character?"

    "The term antagonist has little to do with good or evil." Pree noted. "If it did, then Rebus would not be The Antagonist." He crossed something out on his clipboard. "No belief in objective good and evil, I see? Do you believe in objectively good or bad acts?"

    The drone examined the scars. "I see. You were leaving, just now, correct?"

    "Interesting." Pree checked a box on his clipboard. "Would you say that your self-determination of Antagonist is due to your desire to eliminate the influence of Narrators from the Thread? Because you think many will oppose you in that goal? Or would it be because you will use any means necessary to reach a goal you see as good?"

    "Would you consider yourself a Protagonist or an Antagonist?"

    "There has been some concern in scholarly circles, what with recent events." Pree explained. "The recent deaths of several of the 'old guard' so to speak, has left many concerned as to whether the upcoming generations will be able to handle the antagonists and trials that the older generations have had to deal with. I'm collecting research to discover whether these concerns are unfounded." He eyed Erdikan. "I'd be happy to interview you as well, if you're willing." "I'm ready now." Said Pree obliviously, readying his pen and clipboard.

    Omen stared at Meat with eight unblinking eyes. "You speak of Bacon the Bard? What does he have to do with... but of course." Omen spun four of his eyes to Mischief, the others still locked on Meat. "Who sent you to me?" @ChipsAHoid "Sleep?" Lyric shivered. "I do not sleep. If I slept, I might dream." It is a gift from me. spoke a voice. Sequence deserves a place to rest in peace, one that will not be disturbed. This is such a place. Unintelligible's eyes widened. "I've heard that voice before." He said. "When I was dead. It's my Author." Without any further hesitation, he stepped forward into the forest. Abruptly, a man appeared next to Ribbon. He was short, balding, and a bit portly. He peered at her through glasses so thick they almost obscured the color of his eyes, which were grey. He held a clipboard and a pen in his hands. "Excuse me." The man said. "I am Dr. Pree T. Ense. I am participating in a research study of newer characters, and I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions?"

    I’d agree with Elantris, but era 1 is quite good. And the earliest Stormlight books, WoK and WoR, are some of Brandon’s best work, much better quality-wise than WaT. That’s not to say that Brandon can’t improve his stories in the retelling, but it’s not necessarily something that will happen, particularly since much of his growth as an author will not apply in the new medium.

    "Excellent." Omen said. "Meat, please interpret for me. What does Mischief want?" "That sounds an excellent idea." Said Lyric. "Shall we go find ourselves such a store?" Oh, yeah. I did see that, just forgot about it. Of course, of course stuffs plans for the origin of Endings behind my back.
