  1. Given that they both have the same associated Shard, Harmony, that might not work out too well. Preservation and Ruin's powers and Rhythms do seem to act a bit antithetical to one another, they ultimately destroyed each other via contact, so if you know Preservation's Rhythm, that might've worked, although now both the Shards are held by the same Vessel and are combined in Harmony to some degree (see what I did there?), so that might no longer work either?
  2. A sufficient amount of Investiture would pierce the Realmic boundaries, yes. Hmm... I don't think it would be like some kind of black hole or suction bombs like you're envisioning, I think using a Perpendicularity requires Intent, just from what we've seen so far.
  3. You should be able to burn it... but probably not all of it and you'll still be left with a sword through your torso, which is a pretty big problem
  4. *horrified gasp*
  5. Resonances are mostly era 3 stuff last we heard
  6. I know you've already seen the WoB, I'd just like to make you consider this possibility, ta-da! : Mistborn era 2 spoilers via WoB
  7. A Resonance isn't a power by itself. If you lost either of the powers that creates the Resonance, I think you'll lose their Resonance as well.
  8. Well, Connection can be used to make Investiture believe two things are part of the same and shattered things are Connected to each other. There might be a hack there.
  9. Do you really want to hold Nightblood after seeing that? It would never be truly safe. He did eat a lot of Investiture but Nightblood himself is leaky. Would how much power you pour into him really matter more than his own holding capacity? I don't think he'd be "safe" for long.
  10. But Allomancers are still more Invested than normal humans, they do still have more base Investiture in their Spiritweb, even though it's not a lot and what they use mostly comes directly from Preservation, that's still something. And it's enough to give them a few more minutes. Plus, that connection means that they have channeled a lot of power and that has fundamentally changed their Spiritweb - that's how Slivers are said to work as per Brandon, Slivers can become Cognitive Shadows because their Spiritweb has been stretched by holding an entire Shard. Allomancers haven't held an entire Shard but they have held some quantity of Investiture multiple times in their lives. That would have an effect.
  11. Yeah, seems like living Metalminds should be possible. I'm not sure about splitting them up though, not unless you made the entity that way from their creation. Also why Raysium specifically? No, I don't think compounding would create more copies of the Metalmind entity, probably just give them more Investiture that they may or may not be able to use.
  12. We just know that Identity metalminds are involved in the creation of Unkeyed Metalminds, I think. We don't know anything more about aluminium minds. Storing it would probably blank your Identity and allow you to store Feruchemical attributes that are not keyed to you and can be used by anyone with the relevant Feruchemical ability. But we don't have any idea what tapping it would do. Would it do nothing? Make us feel more like ourselves? Show us who we really are and make us face some uncomfortable truths about ourselves or show us a vision of the perfect us in the Spiritual? We don't know what the cost of storing it would be, would we feel less like us or something? Go insensate? Other people probably wouldn't be able to tap someone else's aluminium-mind. It stores the exact same thing that codes a metalminds' stored attributes to only allow a certain person to access the Investiture. I don't think other people could tap someone else's Identitymind.
  13. We don't know much about Siah Aimians but yes, you probably can steal their shape-shifting ability. Hemalurgy can steal magical attributes just as well as Invested Arts. Hmm... I would say it's more that a Kandra's fluid form means they just side-step the physical mutations. It would depend on the extent of the Siah Aimians' shape-shifting ability in comparison to the Kandra to say how useful that'd be but we don't know much about them. And even Kandra do get twisted by Hemalurgy. Paalm was nearly insane and was probably heavily under the control of Trell. Hemalurgy rips parts of one's Spiritweb, you can't shape-shift that away.
  14. Huh, can't say I've ever thought of Oathbringer as a slow burn, not inaccurate though. I, personally, have more of a problem with the too-much at once ending than the long lead-up. Absolutely agree with Well of Ascension, now that was often a needlessly slow book. I did like the politicking there, though it had not great irl implications and it did have cool moments, this is where we meet TenSoon! But also Zane. And that was just ugh. The Alloy of Law was pretty bad. I really only started liking era 2 upon reread, except the first book which is still pretty meh, imo. So, agree. Yes! Way of Kings rules! Words of Radiance had a Shalladin ship going and just nope to that. I usually don't like romantic drama subplots in general. A Elantris and Warbreaker comparison? Hadn't thought about that. I think I enjoyed Warbreaker more and have definitely reread that more - thrice, compared to Elantris' once. Broadly agree with the marks of the Final Empire, RoW, Bands of Mourning , though maybe I'd change it up by a point up or down. Shadows of Self wasn't that bad. And Hero of Ages would get a higher score by a point or two as well. The White Sand hate is a shame but gotta admit, the graphic novels were not great, except part 3 especially towards the ending. I did like the prose though and I would suggest people check it out.
  15. This is probably getting into Mistborn era 3 or 4 territory, I think.
  16. I think for Allomancy, you req a relatively low amount of base Investiture plus connection to Preservation, you're basically acting as a conduit for the Shard's power. For Radiancy, you're actually holding Investiture yourself, you're actually really holding the Stormlight within yourself not just channeling it. The connection is to a small Splinter rather than a Shard but there's a bigger melding of Spiritwebs involved. So overall, a Radiant is more Invested. That's my take on it.
  17. Way of Kings at the top. All of Kaladin's moments were spectacular. And Shallan's story shone in the darkness of Kaladin's story. Kal's choice to fight at the Tower was a bit archetypical but still works. Rhythm of War. It has the strongest Part 1 of any Stormlight book, tied with Book 1, imo. Some of my favourite moments in the Cosmere in this book: Kal and Tien, & the Dragon and the Dog. And oh those twists: The Sibling, Kalak, Shallan Taravangian, Cultivation, Ishar, Hoid. Also Raboniel and Navani were so enjoyable here. Oathbringer has the strongest backbone and the story comes together brilliantly, Dalinar carried this book like Kal did for Way of Kings. It's Sanderlanche though was way too disjointed for me. A lot of things were stretched out or didn't get as much weight as they should have: looking at the Unmade and Amaram over here. Some of my least fav moments were here like Bridge Four and Kal on Lighteyes and Darkeyes, Shallan's women and peasants comment Words of Radiance. Don't ship Shalladin and way too will-they-or-won't-they, and also kinda very traditional fantasy for me. Not a big fan of one-on-one showdowns, so Kal vs Szeth was meh too. Some of my least fav moments were here too, like the boots scene, Kal's imprisonment, incessant usage of "Bridgeboy", did not like the framing of Kal's binary choice regarding Moash and Elhokar
  18. It should be possible to Hemalurgically steal those. Hemalurgy can steal innate attributes the same as Invested Arts so it shouldn't be a problem either way (the chart doesn't show every bindpoint, only the ones used for Inquisitors). I would say it's less of a magic system, more of a magic interacting with nature situation. It does use Realmatics and Investiture, everything does, but it doesn't actively change anything of nature, it's a part of it.
  19. Ruin can
  20. Both Preservation and Ruin can fuel the Metallic Arts. With Hemalurgically granted Allomancy, it should still be Allomancy, burning metals to get access to Preservation's Investiture though Ruin could fuel it directly too. Hemalurgy is kinda the same as a forced connection, so the attributes stolen in the spike is still Preservation aligned, it's not a Ruin copy. Ruin's magic just allows the theft.
  21. I think they would still decay, and then you'll just be left with a patchy Spiritweb. That wouldn't be very Ruin-y of them if they made stuff that wasn't permanent permanent.
  22. It's not just the trauma from torture on Braize between Desolations, there seems to be something magical about the Heralds' affliction, as confirmed by Brandon. They seem to be acting the opposite of their Divine Attributes as assigned to them by Vorinism. Jezrien turning from a leader to a beggar, Nale no longer being just, Kalak no being longer being resolute, Ishar being blasphemous instead of pious. Forgery probably can still be used to heal them by sort of changing their past for their Spiritweb, but the Heralds' Connections to the Oathpact would be difficult to overcome, they are already highly Invested.
  23. Yeah, it should be possible, though that seems a bit convoluted,
