  1. Already solving the shortcomings of Hemalurgy, I see. Yeah, I think it should work from what we've seen so far. You might need Endowment's tone to do stuff with it though.
  2. That does seem to be the case. He's not pulling all of Stormfather to construct the Shardblade or Shardblade-equivalent but it could operate the Oathgate. We don't know any more about this, just that previous Bondsmiths did not get access to a Shardblade, and probably also not a Shardplate.
  3. Yes, Hoid is pretty in-the-know (the only character who knows more about the Cosmere is Khriss) and one of the oldest characters in the setting (Frost the Dragon is older). He's a Worldhopper and was there when Adonalsium was Splintered and the first Vessels took up the Shards, he was even offered one, but he refused. In fact, he predated even them.
  4. If it was a bullet, maybe but an entire sword? That's too big. Metal balls did provide more amount of potential power that could be burned than metal flakes so the amount does matter. And as Szeth Pancakes mentions above, the Sword isn't completely inside you, that might be an issue too
  5. Oh, I think that should work
  6. Yeah, same thing, you want to Forge a Hemalurgic charge. Brandon's kept relatively mum about Forging a Connection to a Shard and a location and how well that would work out to access a magic: (Note to the second one as there's a bit more to the Shaod and becoming Elantrian and he has since confirmed Connection shenanigans to make AonDor work off-world iirc) It wouldn't be as difficult as accessing the Dor or Allomancy as anyone can become a Hemalurgist, you won't need a connection to Scadrial and not too significant of a connection to Ruin, just knowledge, Intent and spiking. Without the spiking, you'll need to Forge a bit of Connection. We know that creating Connections is possible at least: the Connection orb in Secret History. So it might be possible to Forge a Hemalurgic charge, yeah
  7. I don't know, it's possible it's a religious philosophical term that Lightsong applied to the voice that offered him the choice to Return
  8. Not just noticeability, Shallan actually required less Stormlight to draw from the spheres than Kaladin, we actually see this and they talk about it and strategize accordingly
  9. Yeah, it's not very impressive compared to other Invested Arts, is it? And now Slatrification has officially been retconned, which was the most interesting thing about it. Turning sand into water sounds beautiful and mystical, I liked it, and it fit as an ability of a desert dwelling people whose magic cost the moisture from their bodies. It being a high tier ability gated it enough, narratively speaking, there was no reason to retcon it, imo, smh. But anyway! Sand Mastery looks unimpressive compared to the other Invested Arts but it's actually pretty versatile. You can use tendrils of sand to fly, to swat enemies, use them to create makeshift constructs like projectiles, blind enemies with sand, good defensive and battlefield control utility by making protecting yourself from projectiles with tendrils of sand, grabbing opponents with sand tentacles. Kenton could manipulate granules of sand within an opponent's body to shred their internals. So it's still useful. It's just... Radiants can regenerate very fast, are covered in Shardplate, some of them can touch you and turn you into stone, and can also turn your sand to water (which they could once have done, before that got retconned *throws shade*) or to fire. Two Orders have way better mobility with flight and good luck catching two other Orders who're way to slippery. Speaking of throwing Shade, we see in the Bands of Mourning broadsheet that there's something like a Shade gun. If that's future Threnody magitech, then they've got a potent weapon. I don't think there's much a Sand Master can do against Shades though it's still useful: they can run away without running away, assuming that's a trick that works. I think they just attack moving people. On Scadrial, the Metallic Arts are going to get mechanized too, and spoilers from a certain sample Sel has AonDor. Nuff said. That thing can do almost anything. Forgery isn't directly combat oriented, but there's so much you can do with it. Much higher munchkinry potential than Sand Mastery so I'm hesitant to predict how future development with magic might go. We don't know enough about ChayShan, Bloodsealing, Dakhor monks, Hrovell potions, possibly some kind of "exacting art" of warding mentioned in Secret History though that might've been AonDor unbounded, something more fundamental to how magics work in the Cosmere, it's hard to tell. Bloodsealing, potions and warding don't seem direct combat oriented so Sand Masters have a good chance against them in direct confrontations. Dakhor and ChayShan are direct combat oriented but seem mostly physical enhancements from what we've seen, Forgery can also be used for physical enhancements, and let's count Bloodsealing's Skeletals here as well, they're strong but not super strong. Sand Masters can defeat them in direct confrontations. Nalthis has a much more costly magic but they've just begun to see the potential of the magic. Awakening can do a lot, *looks at Nightblood and Vivenna's blade* But at least they're vulnerable to Sand Masters to some degree. Oh wait, they have zombie armies and a stone zombie army too, because of course they do. Well, here's a match for the Sand Masters: the Aviar. Their closest rivals in fair combat looks to be birds. That's just sad. Sand Masters do have one great advantage. They're very Investiture efficient. We see in Oathbringer in the Kholinar and Shadesmar sequence that Kaladin's Windrunner powers took more Stormlight than Shallan's Lightweaving. There we also see Shallan meeting Hoid after her disastrous attempt to help the starving that even the passive presence of Shallan's Lightweaving was enough to charge Hoid's white sand within seconds to a minute. A process that normally takes four hours on Taldain's Dayside, iirc. So, Sand Masters could become ninjas, they seem to use very little Investiture. There are Invested Arts that can build things but aren't great in direct combat, and if Sand Masters can get the drop on them, they would hold a great advantage over them. But eh, I'm sure they can all find a way to munchkin through. And besides, I think it's Darkside magic we should be looking at, it's the way to go for Taldain if even half of what we've heard about Skathan are true.
  10. It is possible for a Shard to have multiple Perpendicularities so yes
  11. Hmm, assuming the other metal was also Allomantically viable, you might be able to burn both the casing and the Harmonium (though obviously don't burn the casing first). If it was not Allomantically viable then don't swallow it, you'll get poisoning. I think this has been asked before but I couldn't find any WoBs. I've probably seen this theory before then.
  12. Traveling via Perpendicularity seems to require Intent on part of the traveler. Something like sending their minds to the Cognitive might be possible though, like what happens to Shallan sometimes when Soulcasting.
  13. Well it might work but it probably wouldn't be very efficient, tapping an attribute does consume it. So you're doing the same thing with extra steps and wasting more Investiture. Better to simply restamp yourself.
  14. Instead of stealing an attribute, you want to Forge an attribute? I... honestly don't know. A spike isn't Hemalurgically charged until you pierce someone, I think. So you might have to charge it via Forgery as well.
  15. Cutting off their arms wouldn't stop them from summoning their Shardblade, just from being able to use it very well. Putting them in an aluminium cell might work better for preventing them from summoning their Shardblade.
  16. Yeah, the different Surges use different amounts of Investiture. A Windrunner's Lashings use more Investiture than a Lightweaver's Lightweaving, we see this in Oathbringer, when the group is in Kholinar. The alerter Voidspren could detect Kaladin's use of his Surges but not Shallan's. Just by the scale of it, I would say that Bondsmith abilities probably use even greater amounts of Investiture. The Stormfather does say that a Bondsmith's abilities are greater than any other Radiant's but they're not for mere battle. So Bondsmith's aren't powerful in the way that anime characters with more power are on an entirely different level from their peers, stopping a dragon's punch with a mere finger or stuff like that. Dalinar likely will become more powerful, like Ishar, now that Honor no longer regulates the Surges. Once, he learns to do more. But even now he can open a Perpendicularity and recharge the Stormlight of every nearby Radiant. As for the Honorblades, they might very well be differently Invested, we don't have confirmation either way. Could also be that it's the other nine who're Invested more to be on the same level as Ishar's blade than Ishar's Blade's level of Investiture being lowered to the level of the other nine. We don't know much about the Honorblades.
  17. Spren usually bond to people whose trauma leaves gaping holes in their Spiritweb. A victim of Hemalurgy, assuming they're not too far gone, are an extreme version of this, as Frustration said, so it should work.
  18. I think the Connection point between the Fused is the Shard Odium himself. I think that at the scale where something like affecting all Fused via their shared Connection would be possible might, if it is possible at all, might have some even greater consequences. We don't know if Anti-Investiture can move along Connection, might be that it decays it too quickly to travel along it. It would be easier to remove their Connection to Odium via unchained Bondsmith abilities I think, which makes me wonder why Honor let all this go on for so long and cost so many more lives, perhaps he was afraid of retaliatory action and setting the bar higher, of escalation in the conflict.
  19. We know that spren can be altered by Investiture from a different Shard, eg Sja-Anat's Enlightening of the Mistspren, Raboniel's Corruption of the Sibling. Given Endowment's nature, Breath is very adaptable to new bearers and doesn't come with strings attached. I think it's possible to give them to spren but it might alter their nature, or the Breath might adapt to them and so not alter their new owner
  20. So, it is possible for a Resonance to form between Hemalurgically stolen powers but unlikely for some reason
  21. Hello, look forward to seeing you around!
  22. The classifications of Hemalurgist and Hemalurgic Construct probably has to with how much the Hemalurgy changes the organism. Just having stolen Invested Arts might make you a Hemalurgist but fundamentally altering your Spiritweb and biology makes you a construct. Perhaps whether or not the being can survive if the Hemalurgic spikes were taken out determines whether they're more accurately described as a Hemalurgist or a Hemalurgic construct. Could also be a matter of intent. Did you yourself steal some attributes? Then you're a Hemalurgist. Did somebody spike you to turn you into something else? Then you're a construct.
  23. Aluminium shielding might interfere with the powers though... or not, the Soulcaster under Kholinar worked just fine right? F-Gold healing does heal the soul. Hemalurgy directly alters the soul though, so I don't know if F-Gold could seal up the holes and if it is powerful enough to do so it might take away the Hemalurgically granted powers?
  24. F-Gold can heal the soul so it should be effective to some degree. I don't know how it would interact with Hemalurgy though. Hemalurgy directly alters the Spiritweb. And if a souped up F-Gold does patch up the Hemalurgic damage would it also take away the Hemalurgic alterations and with it the Hemalurgically granted powers? You should ask this to Brandon on Reddit. There's a Q&A thing going on:
