  1. That one's easy. First I'm going to set up a saferoom hidden somewhere in an uninhabited region of Arelon. I'll make some sort of Aonic beacon there that I will use later. This saferoom will also have protections against anyone entering, and will automatically alert me if it is breached. It will have multiple Aon Tia tablets set up so I can travel to any number of important locations at will, including other safe rooms off world with aonic adapters already established so my powers will work there. Next I will have all of my clothing custom made and embroidered with aons. All of these aons can be activated manually but will also have passive functions. Passively my clothes will scan for nearby threats and if I am attacked it will automatically activate Aon Edo to protect me. Additionally if I am ever rendered unconscious or if the barrier is broken it will automatically teleport me to my saferoom. I'll have a setting where my clothes will automatically give me a lightweaving if I turn it on, and I'll carry a large shield with a massive Aon Daa configuration that I've modified to deal maximum damage. I'll wear glasses with Aon Nae, and some other modifications. They'll let me automatically track movement, see in the dark, detect investiture, and can highlight individuals hiding like the Azish fabrials could. Then I'll keep an Aon Sheo around, just in case I need a nuclear option. I'm pretty confident in my ability to survive anything short of Heralds.
  2. You're on showdown?
  3. That really depends. More people watch movies than read books. If successful then it's entirely possible for the number of movie fans to quickly outnumber book fans. Just with that Reddit and YoutTube would cease to be about books almost immediately. We can see this even with unsuccessful adaptations like WoT, now admittedly there aren't any new books coming out, but all conversation immediately shifted to the tv series. And that was a massive failure by every metric. And personally I think that a terrible movie adaptation would be just as bad as a successful one, though I suppose if it bombs and loses everything then Brandon won't waste his time with more movies. But on the other hand then it's forever tied to a terrible film. So I really don't know what to hope for. I'd agree quite heavily here. This sums up a lot of my worries.
  4. I'd say that the ability for Aons to be prewritten is one of the most powerful things about it. Just like how almost no software would exist if you needed to write out the full thing everytime you wanted to use it, the ability to make it once and it's useable forever is unreal. All it takes is for Elantrians to make an easy way to share complex aon commands and any one of them has the ability to do next to anything. And once they get conputers and printers they only need a way to make printed aons work and it's all over
  5. They mostly repackage old theories that have either already been confirmed or rejected years ago and pass it off as new or innovative without actually adding anything. I understand that digging through the Arcanum isn't for everyone but if you're making an entire channel dedicated to the Cosmere, I don't think that's much of an ask. I don't follow Halo so I can't comment there. I do pay attention to LotR and similar fandoms. They can certainly be movie fans, but the differences in the fandoms, even for relatively good adaptations, is extreme. They can certainly be movie fans, but until you read the books there's a lot missing. An example would be "Why didn't they fly the Eagles to Mordor?" That's probably the most common thing noted about LotR, and it's entirely the movies' fault. The books explain clearly that the Fellowship will only succeed through stealth. Giant eagles are not sneaky. It might share the same name, but it will be fundamentally a different fandom altogether.
  6. Ah yes. Thank you @AonEne. Now I can finally: *wins* This thread is pure brainrot, and I love it.

  8. 1. It's Apple. They aren't the worst company out there, but they're still terrible. 1.5. Apple TV is subscription based, and I've had it with subscriptions. I just want to own the things I pay for. 2. Brandon might have creative control but if he's going to actually give the attention that such a project needs while also keeping the idiots out there from ruining it like they have every other franchise, then he needs to spend a lot of time on it. I'd rather that time go to writing books 3. Even if Brandon has creative control he'll have constraints in budgeting, corporate policies and what-not and I don't think that even with him any adaptations could be good enough to satisfy me. 4. I don't like movies or TV shows that much so even if it was good I don't have a huge desire to start with. 5. I don't want the community swamped with movie fans who think they are somehow deserving of fan status without reading the books. I'm already fed up with the Cosmere theory channels on YouTube, and they've at least read the books.
  9. You can't go back in time, only forward
  10. That's just Shallan being bad. The difficulty isn't based on what you are changing the object into, only what it is. Empowerment is also only a game mechanic. Surges are always more powerful after swearing an ideal, not just temporarily. (WoK, 955). At the fourth ideal Kaladin is able to overcome the Sibling's suppression. The Sibling of course was a lot stronger able to knock those it suppressed out, not just turn off their powers as happens with the smaller suppression devices. That comes from the Ars Arcanum from RoW page 1229. Soulcasting Stone is often times more difficult unless the individual is invested.
  11. Dang I was expecting some good ones, but the level of preparation here is just... wow. I tip my hat to you good fellow.
  12. That's awesome. Welcome to the club, there are only a few of us insane enough to spend the effort to read all of them.
  13. All of them? Did you actually do it?
  14. It's just Windrunners, and is due to Adhesion EDIT: Lol, Trusk'our beat me to it
  15. The SA RPG has some terrible inaccuracies when it comes to the lore. Just to list a few: Soulcasting fire is not more difficult, Shardblades are way more dangerous, 4th ideal and higher are outright immune to Suppression fabrials, it is harder to soulcast stone than living things, etc. The books outright say that Renarin cannot use normal lightweaving, it would just be one more item on the list.
  16. Agreed. I actually had a couple of times on my mission where people would say that the Bible says you can't have any other scripture than the Bible. Cue me saying, "No it doesn't," or "I don't remember that part." So that's what it's called. I had a few companions listen to it and I've thought a bit about looking for it, but didn't think I knew enough to find it.
  17. But that doesn't... The time travel required for that to work is just beyond me.
  18. The ancient Apostles. He was trying to say the Church was false for rejecting the Trinity, so I brought out John 17:20-22 were Jesus prayed that the Apostles would be One, just as He is One with the Father. My dear basher either had to reject the Trinity or accept the Apostles as all being one person. I was not prepared for his answer.
  19. Navigation doesn't have to do with aviar worms. The Eelakin were navigating before they found First of the Sun
  20. I'm working on it. Here are my planned next entries 1. The basics of online privacy 2. Web Browsers and Search Engines 3. Degoogle, online ecosystems, and alternatives(this one will be big) ???: VPNs and DNS ???: Opperaring systems ???: Cloud Storage and Ecryption I'm just waiting on my own knowledge to expand for the other entries. All things considered the Shard is relatively tame. You can request your Personally Identifiable Information (PII): Account Settings > Security and Privacy > Request PII. I did it not too long ago, it's mostly just IP addresses And email. No worries, most of this was sparked from me having similar feelings.
  21. So this is kind of documenting my journey down the internet privacy rabbit hole. I'll kind of share what I've learned as I go hoping that others can gain something from it. First off "Why Privacy?" Perhaps the reason I hear most often against maximizing online privacy is that you don't need it. This can be summarized in the philosophy of "I'm doing nothing wrong, so I have nothing to hide." I personally think that most people who fall in this camp don't have the faintest idea as to how much information you can actually find out about someone online. If you do and still don't care, that's your choice. However, I want to ask: Do you feel uncomfortable with someone watching your phone over your shoulder? How about looking through your search history without telling you? How about tracking your location at all times? I think that would make almost anyone uncomfortable. The levels of privacy. Like most things privacy comes in levels, which I will summarize below, and throughout this blog I will use to help you achieve your desired level of internet privacy. Level 0. "I don't like hackers" People at this level are only really concerned with protecting themselves from hacking, scams and extortion. Level 1. "I'm doing nothing wrong, but I'm also doing nothing you need to know about." At this level people take the basic precautions to avoid the most invasive corporate and government espionage and are contentious about how much of their information is available online. Level 2. "Data collection is theft." At this level most people feel like they own their personal information, and anyone collecting it is stealing. These individuals go to just as extreme lengths to protect their data as they do to protect their belongings, and guard it just as jealously. Level 3. [Error 404: Not Found]. At this level people go to extreme lengths to remove any and all traces of themselves from the internet. This level almost requires you to not use the internet at all. Who do we need privacy from? Well, everyone really, but there are some culprits that are bigger than the others. Big tech companies like Google, Meta, and Microsoft Government agencies like the NSA if you live in the US Hackers and Scammers Your Internet Service Provider(ISP) Every website you visit. I'll get into how to protect yourself later, but for now let's see just how much information they have access to. First go to this website https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ Unless you have already taken steps to protect yourself you might be surprised on how accurate of a location this random website was able to get from you. Well, it's not just this one. Every website can collect this information from you. To see this on the shard go to your Account Settings > Recently Used Devices. You should see not only what devices you used, their operating system, the browser you used, and the location you used them from. Other services are even more invasive tracking what other devices are logged on using the same mobile or wi-fi network, location, search history, mouse movements, keyboard patterns and so much more. Why do they collect all of this data? Most websites and social media companies use it to sell targeted ads, so you can pay money to send the same advertisements to all members of a family, to people who watched your competitors ads etc. etc. Most governments use it to track, influence and control you. In the next installment I'll start going though ways to protect yourself and your information.
  22. Lol, the bashers are so funny. My favorite was probably the guy who tried to tell me the Apostles are all the same person.
