  1. That really undersells just how big of an impact the Caste system actually has. The difference between casts in India was over 100x greater than the differences between classes in Europe. They really are not comparable other than in the most superficial of ways.
  2. No offense taken. This is actually far more pleasant than the last time I had this conversation. All citations are from the KJV unless otherwise stated. This is the Jehovah's Witnesses' view. Which while it has some similarities is different. The first is that we reject Creation Ex Nihilo, or that God made everything out of nothing. Jesus was not created, and is eternal. Now, He was the firstborn of God's spirit children¹, but Jesus existed before that. At that time, and during His mortal ministry He was, while sinless, imperfect and had not yet received of the Father's fullness. Luke 13:31-32 Here Christ's pefrection is stated to be a yet future date, while at the same time He aknowledges that the Father is perfect Mattew 5:48 However, following His ressurection Christ received a fullness of the glory of the Father, and at this time stands both perfect and equal with Him in all things. Mattew 28:18 Revelations 3:21 And in the Book of Mormon, following His ressurection Jesus appeared and gave a sermon very similar to the Sermon on the mount, only this time He lists both Himself and the Father as perfect. 3 Nephi 12:48 So we would both say that Jesus is coeternal and equal with the Father, the only real distinction is whether they are the same person or two. I likewise have not heard this argument before, so thank you. I'm so used to seeing the same 4-5 verses. This is quite refreashing. It's hard to know from only the Biblical record if Israel had been given a full knowledge of God and Jesus. While I believe that Moses knew, it's unclear how much he was allowed to share. Mark 4:11 Jesus does something similar. Paul and Isaiah both speak of similar things Isaiah 28:9-10 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 Personally I think that it was understood as specifically a prohibition against idolatry, not of the worship of the Father and Son, though I recognize that that isn't what is explicately in the text.
  3. Really? That's an odd pick in my mind, I don't think watching TV dramas endlessly would be a fulfilling existence
  4. *Thinks about it for exactly .0000001 seconds before deciding it's a bad idea*
  5. I really don't see a difference between this and Catholics calling early Protestants heretics for rejecting Papal authority. They would say that following Christ's successor on Earth is very important to the religion named after Him. The basic principle of the distinction remains. We do not claim anything less than divinity for our Lord, we merely recognize a distinction between Him and the Father. Indeed, and we don't dispute that Jehovah was the premortal Christ From The Living Christ I could give a full in depth explanation of our particular views on the issue but for now I'll just site John 17, with a particular emphasis on verses 20-22 as being an accurate description.
  6. Choas isn't the arbiter of what I think is funny. I can understand why he wouldn't want it, but it's really funny.
  7. You did what! That's actually hillarious
  8. True but only one in a thousand people are born mistings. Assuming an even distribution that makes only 1 in 16k people a tineye. I'd imagine that they would develop night-vision later than we would, but by a 1980s equivellant it should be there. I also had a thought, this is the time when DNA studies become more common, so we might see the first uses of hemalurgy on animals. This could creare animal monsters, or(and I think far more interesting) we can have humans with super enhanced senses or strength.
  9. I did not put it anywhere, we saw it during one of Dalinar's visions. What it was protecting is unclear but it was there for a reason. They kept the highstorm out of a storm shelter, and opened the highstorm to help Kaladin find his dad.
  10. Interesting strategy, I was not expecting it. What do you do if Windspren create a barrier and don't let the gas in? Solid battle plan. I don't think you need to worry too much about the regals jumping like that. The chasms were horizontal and they needed running starts. Very rarely to almost never do armies attack fortifications because the people inside are important targets. It's because they hold enemies that you have to deal with before you can move on. If you ignore them, then you have a dangerous enemy behind you, able to stop your retreat if you run into another army, harry you from behind during all of your endeavors, cut off your supply lines, and generally just ruin your day. Ignoring them to attack cities nearby would actually play into the radiants' hands as the army would need to spread out over a large section of land, which would allow the radiants to engage them in small groups instead of a massive hoard. I can list numerous historical examples, but I think that the best illustration would be the German invasion of Belgium during WW1. Strategically speaking Belgium was unimportant for Germany. They were only trying to pass through so that they could invade France. Despite this, and the German forces far outmatching the Belgians by a considerable margin in just about every important metric, the German invasion of France was delayed considerably and changed the course of the entire war, because Germany couldn't afford to simply march past the Belgian forts, but had to take the time to capture them one by one. Germany's entire invasion plan was critically delayed, and the French armies were given crucial extra time to prepare, because a bunch of hastily made conscripts had basic fortifications.
  11. The UI for Android changed. I'm not sure how I feel about this

  12. I'm Frustration, I'm really old here. Don't anger the mods
  13. @Jeffthe5thofJeffland The one I own How many times a week do you drive?
  14. Have you already read Fires of December? If so I imagine that there isn't a lot you're allowed to talk about, but Brandon recently said that he feels that the book is one of his best. Do you agree?
  15. Well so far as I know only me @Experience @Shard of Frustration Wait Shard of Frustration? I have a parody account I never knew about?
  16. Where on earth did you get that from?
  17. Truly tragic. I miss the lightsabers they used to have there back in the day. The modern ones just aren't the same.
  18. Up to you when to attack, just know Highstorms will come once every 5 days or so.
  19. Sure just head down to Classmates R Us... Oh wait they closed. Dang it.
  20. Yeah, yeah I know these threads are so last month. I still wanted to do this. I have long said that I don't know how Fused were ever supposed to pose a threat to Radiant forces during the Desolations. Well, I want to see if the people of the internet can change my mind. Your mission: You can take whatever resources you deem necessary, however as this will take place during a Desolation, there is no anti-lights, no everstorm, and only surge fabrials, with no suppressors. How do you do it?
  21. That predates modern vorinism, and is more cultural than religious, though I suppose they uphold the current culture, but that's a two way street as the culture also upholds Vorinism. Again that's more of Alethi or Vedan culture than religon. Theylanah is itself Vorin. Do you hold similar views in regards to Korea for example? They also have different modesty standards. That's what we did. For a long time it was considered the cutting edge in mental health. And I'd classify that as a practice, not a doctrine. Other groups such as the Azish would have similar practices despite not being Vorin. Any particular reason for that? Not trying to say you're wrong with these, just that you might be blaming the wrong institution I'd agree, especially as Returned, another splinter are also so far beneath them. I suppose the Unmade are there, but how they stack up is unclear
  22. Well that's terrible. I hope you find some better classmates.
