Frustration's Firepower Index: Taldain
Frustration replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Shards can't take action outside their system. There's a reason Odium had to go hunt down the shards he splintered. No other shard has an avatar on First of the Sun, and thus Autonomy can act with impunity. -
Who would win, the Ultimate Cosmere free for all.

I'm going to increase Dawnshards to *4 @Cocoa @alder24 @lacrossedeamon does this change you picks? Personally I would change to 3rd Oath Bondsmith, Elantrain, Lerasium Mistborn. -

No other shards are in residence on First of the Sun, so that's a non-issue, even if it would. -
I backed the project and am still waiting on my copy.

When I told one of my friends(who is not playing) about this their response was "You're an evil genius, emphisis on both words" That's the hope. Thank you, that means a lot to me. That might be intresting, I'd have to draw up a floorplan of the fortress to see if that would make sense to add, but that could be fun.

So, I(a Lawful evil DM) was asked to run a campaign for a group, (and for context my table is 6-7 players who use 6d6 drop lowest for stats, so these guys can tank a lot) and so I came up with a particularly evil encounter that I thought I'd run by you to see if any of you had any experience with similar encounters, or had tips I could use. So the encounter takes place inside a kobold fortress, in a five foot wide hallway, the entire floor has been covered in ball bearings and caltrops, along both walls is a series of arrow loops, providing 3/4 cover, behind which kobold archers will shoot out at the party, while also always remaining within 5 feet of them to keep pack tactics in effect. Ten feet bove them is two murder holes from which two more kobolds will drop down rocks, vials of acid, and alchemist fire. At the end of the hallway is a kobold in plate, with a shield and spear, with the polearm master and sentinel feats. Any tips, or rules I might have missed?

Frustration's Firepower Index: Taldain
Frustration replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Shards have the ability to move planets, you're telling me she wouldn't just send an asteroid to take them out if they tried to approach? She wouldn't even allow native Taldainians back onto the planet, why would she allow off worlders? -

The fact that they are able to get to the planet at all shows that Autonomy isn't doing anything. -

So we know that if you alloy Lerasium with steel you gain the ability to burn steel. We also know that if you are a compounder your steelminds can be burned like regular steel, but giving you speed rather than the ability to push on metals. So, the question is what happens when you alloy Lerasium with a steelmind? I see three possibilities, the boring one would be that the Lerasium doesn't care and you just become a coinshot. The more interesting ones are either: you gain the ability to burn any steelmind, or even more excitingly you could potentially burn any piece of steel and it would give you speed rather than the ability to push on metals.

As of white sand no, at least not all of it, depends on how Skathan relates to her. -
The time gap is either 15 or 10 years Brandon isn't sure yet.

Frustration's Firepower Index: Skybreakers

Part of the reason I'm doing this is that Brandon's taking too long writing the crossover books. I just want to see a coinshot edgedanncer fight a sleepless Elantrian with ettmetal primer cubes already. -
Frustration's Firepower Index: Skybreakers

You're right .... Was I imagining a spacefight when I wrote that? Probably just tired, but still that was dumb. -
Welcome to Frustration's Firepower Index, where I compare and rank the combat capabilities of Cosmere worlds and magic systems. This thread will be focused on the Skybreakers. Preparation: Be a warform singer, a fifth oath Skybreaker, and have a second oath squire, who is also a warform singer. It is unknown if Skybreakers can have multiple squires, but they can at least have one, so I'm going with that. The Skybreaker will need multiple gemstones sewn into pouches in their clothes, along with several bags full of truthberry stalks. The Squire will have large pouches containing extra gemstones, a bag full of rocks, another with aluminum darts, and a fabrial that can pull the blood out of someone, along with some aluminum armor. Offenses: Shardblades can instantly cut through almost any material, and can form into almost any weapon. Waforms strength along with Shardplate would make blunt force attacks devastating. Rocks can receive multiple lashings and be sent at high speeds towards a target due to delayed lashings(OB Chapter 82, page 353), and aluminum darts can be dropped on anyone with invested ways to protect themselves. There are fabrials that can suck the blood out of people(RoW Chapter 82, page 993), and Truthberry smoke is intoxicating, impairing the mind of the Skybreaker's opponent. Additionally Division can burn through weapons and enemies alike. Defenses:Shardplate will protect it's wearer, given them incredible resistance to all forms of attack, and with division they can burn through weapons before they even reach them, while aluminum will protect the squire from most invested attacks. Mobility: Skybreakers can fly. Additionally with Division and Shardblades they can cut or burn their way through physical barriers. Stealth: Plate can be commanded to stop glowing, and Spren can go and investigate anything invisibly. Awareness: Spren can quickly search for anything invisibly. Additional abilities: None currently known. As always what do you think? Did I miss anything? And what should I work on next?

Navani only became a main character in RoW, and probably will drop off again in KoW. And again the oldest child would only possibly be fifteen, probably only ten.

Frustration's Firepower Index: Taldain

We know from Telsin and Shai that people in Autonomy's empire live under her rule. We know from Sixth of the Dusk, and the Kingmaker sample chapters that first of the Sun does not. Scadrial had an avatar, but they weren't part of her empire, Sel might have an avatar, but they certainly aren't either. And the men of Gold and Red are Autonomy's personal army, if anyone has access to them she does. -
So I have on occasion seen people argue that Stormlight books are too long. I have also seen(probably more commonly) that they aren't long enough. So I decided to ask you, the questions: How long would you prefer Stormlight books to be? And if you want them shorter what would you cut, and if you want them longer what would you add?
-
Hate to burst your bubble, but there's a maximum of 15 years between books, and we already know the back 5 main characters. (Lift, Taln, Ash, Jasnah, and Renarin).
-
That's true, but Warlight was named because of the rhythm it embodied to, much like how Stormlight embodied Honor's tone.

Not sure, given Aether of Night it probably depends on the strength of the bond.

Windrunner V.S. Skybreaker
Frustration replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Even if they serve as nothing more than distractions(which I believe they can) that means the Skybreaker has to fight the Windrunner, while also chasing away the squires, which puts them on the back foot. And given how Kaladin was able to crack plate with lashings, the squires would be able to as well. -
Mistborn V.S. 3rd ideal Windrunner
Frustration replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You're hand would care a whole lot more about the rock if we dropped that rock from 30 feet up at five times the gravity. I've gone over this three times now. You block the coins then dismiss the reverse lashing. The coins then fall away and you can chase down the Mistborn. You don't need the shield in the air, as you can just move to the side by sculpting the air.
