  1. Where are u going ? U from brigram too ?
  2. @Aluminum I don't think depravity would be a big bad . Not by itself at least. Maybe if some shard would combine with it or if it were to pick up or hack splinters of the ones Odium has killed. Like maybe it has found out a way to make splinters bend to it's will , without absorbing them and soiling it's own intent. I doubt it. But it would be cool .It could be responsible for the rise of the Evil in Threnody. Consuming and playing with the lives and souls of men. Hmmm would match up with what I think is kinda a tangent to it's intent. To maximize suffering. It could be warping ambitions mangled investiture on the planet. Hell maybe that's why Odium says in OB that he can't even leave large splinters like the stormfather alive. Maybe he's afraid depravity might hack them and might change thier intent enough to challenge Odium. Maybe it won't ever risk it's own neck but suppose it creates it's own unmade , a entire coalition which can stand up to and even kill or atleast weaken Rayse. Maybe it visited SEL too and that's how the svrakiss came about , small pieces of hacked investiture cannibalized from the dor. But then it found it hard to mold the dor , stuffed in the CR as it is and left for Threnody instead. Maybe it doesn't like harmony as Sazed is trying to maximize choice and thereby increase happiness and decrease suffering. So seeing that Sazed is still young and stumbling by Shard standards and outraged at the sheer audacity of the consequences of Harmony's intent , it's attacking Scadrial. Hoping to take down harmony while it's still taking its baby steps. Like a bully picking on a baby. Harmony is double it's size by magnitude sure but it's young and stumbling. It would explain why paalm was made to suffer so much in SoS. I really felt sorry for her and that felt straight up depraved. Maybe it sees the general increase in happiness technological growth can bring and is therefore threatened by it and decided to remove life from the sphere . Wooooooo Maybe it can somehow bully or manipulate imitation to do it's bidding. This is all pure speculation of course but it is fun huh. Woo it would be so cool to have such a shard. But yeah it would be too black and white. But then again ruin was kinda black and white too. I still love mistborn era 1 more than any other Cosmere book subset . Let's see. Time and Mr. Brandon will tell
  3. So I was wondering that the fate of ambition was left somewhat ambiguous. I mean khriss says Uli da was mortally wounded and pieces of her shard were brutally ripped out , warping the threnodite system. But then she says she was splintered in another system , but not if Odium was the one who did it. Or if she was broken at Threnody and was already splintered or almost splintered and died of her wounds later on. Neither is there solid proof as to if she was killed at all. So I have a theory. What if she became a shade ? A ghost. Now when I say a shade , I don't mean she lost her physical body like kelsier did. Instead she lost her mind. I think it's more like the threnodite shades who still have a lethal ,caustic physical presence but not much mind. The shades exist on all three realms ,atleast in part. Khriss even wonders if they have souls. They most probably do. I think the defining and differentiating charecteristic of threnodite shades , is that they exist on all three realms but only barely. Now this is important as in SH, Ati mocks kelsier by saying that only someone who exists on all three realms can properly hold a Shard. Threnodite shades are special in that unlike other shadows in the Cosmere they aren't restricted to the cognitive realm. They exist on all three realms. And whose investiture is responsible for these shades ??? That's right Ambition's. So could it be that Uli Da became a shade who barely exists on all three realms rather than one who doesn't exist on one or more realms (, ie, dying ). And since she's not a true shadow , a true ghost , she can still hold her Shardic nature efficiently. But since she has lost much of her mind , she would be more predatory , more instinctual in nature. This sorta reminded me of the Grudge. The basic premise of the movie is from Japanese lore which states that if someone were to die in the midst of great tragedy or pain or anger or envy , thier souls would be consumed by it and they would turn into restless wraiths who murder anyone unfortunate enough to run into them. It doesn't matter if the person is innocent or guilty. A child or a old person. The shade is nothing more than a amalgation of pure envy , anger and hatred now. Envious and angry at others for being lucky enough to be happy or even alive. Thirsting to pass on it's pain and sadness to others ,so they too might know it's misfortune. Or maybe something even more mindless , just a being which wants to kill , to destroy , which has been consumed by destructive emotions so much that it's like a fish in water . Kinda reminds u of some barely self aware splinters of investiture on Threnody , eh ? Now Brandon spent 2 yrs in Korea , he got a lot of ideas there. And it wouldn't be impossible for him to learn of this piece of lore as Japan is close to the Korean peninsula and has some cultural influence in there or get to know of it via movies like the Ring or the Grudge So here's my theory. I think Uli da didn't die , not completely anyway. I think she still has her physical essence but has sacrificed most of her mind , much like preservation did , either to escape from pain or as a determined move to secure vengeance. However she is not bound by non violence like leras was. She hates Odium and is ready to destroy him even if it means destroying herself as well. And she has become consumed by anger ,pain and despair . It doesn't clash with her intent , as her intent now is still ambition. Ambition to watch Odium burn. Indeed in a way it makes sense , there is no one more vengeful than an ambitious person cheated and nearly violated in almost every way possible. ( Which I believe is what being almost splintered must feel like ) I think that perhaps ambition still has some cognizance but she is overwhelmingly ruled by a desire for Revenge, for Retribution . She may have lesser beings working for her. The Evil might be her pawn as well. And I think perhaps she's lying low for now. Gathering her strength. Moving her pawns . I have a few more points which I will post someother time. Please do comment about ur thoughts on my theory. Thank u.
  4. The shards Depravity and Imitation Now I thought Odium was well Odium but turns out that's more of a overgeneralization. Sure he's kinda power mad but he doesn't really represent the psychopath and sociopath I imagined. So I think maybe there's another shard out there. One who represents Adonalsium's depravity. By depravity I mean basically all sorts of sadistic or cowardly behaviours . One u would expect of bullies. I came to this idea while I was reading a lot of doom and gloom manga like Attack on Titan and Tokyo ghoul. Like on those world's u have a few individuals , who have powers but that only brings misery to them and to everyone they know and love and to the world as a whole. And the origin of these deviant traits remain murky and in cases like Tokyo ghoul it seems it simply manifested without any chain of causation . And I was thinking of the idea of cruel gods ,who simply want to watch lesser beings suffer. And then I decided to integrate this idea into the Cosmere via the Shard of Depravity. I think this shard would represent all the pettiness and cruelty of humans . Like even in children u can find this petty cruelty , lack of empathy , selfishness , etc. I think it's not truly dangerous. It's like a bully. Not ready for confrontations with something its own size but more than happy playing with mortal lives. Maybe this might even be the survival shard. Although I doubt it. As Brandon indicated it was smart but then again depravity does indicate an intrinsic reservoir of cunning and deviousness. I think it would be something like Gaz in WoK deified with a bit more cunning ,reminiscent of Straff Venture maybe. Now Imitation , now how do children grow . They imitate what adults do. Indeed , one of the major social forces might be imitation , we imitate the ones we look up to and think are cool. We imitate our culture , our language , our values from our loved ones. Imitation is I think the saying goes the highest form of flattery. So perhaps it could classify as shardic intent. A shard with a varying intent. One which can imitate the intents of other shards. If such a shard does exist , I don't think it would be a threat . It would be something more akin to the antagonist portrayed in the movies Split and Glass deified. Having multiple personalities with great clashes with each other. Too unstable to prove a threat. This is in direct contrast with autonomy who may have multiple personalities as well but they are somewhat coherent and cooperative. So any thoughts or criticisms or support . Thank u.
  5. The ability to discern the innocent from the guilty it seems
  6. How do u explain SkyBreaker resonance then ?
  7. So an Inquisitor can very well become a fullborn even if he/she was born a common human. The downside of course Is that then u would be liable to external control and loss of identity and will ,by a gang of soothers or duralumin / nicroburst enhanced Mistborn or by a shard. The more spikes u have , the easier is it to lose control. But is that really unavoidable. Suppose u were to grant a Inquisitor spikes bestowing allomantic and feruchemical aluminum , electrum and duralumin. This would allow said Inquisitor to compound identity , determination and connection. Identity and determination alone could be enough to shake off any external influence but perhaps connection to one self , one's own goals and ideas could boost ur emotional defense. So could my theory work ? Say Marsh decided to go rogue, say he thought Harmony was doing something very stupid or thought Harmony was too tied up. He could creat new spikes by killing 3 mistings and 3 ferrings . He has done way worse , true he was being governed by Ruin then but he knows about sacrifices required for the greater good , that's how he ended up in the steel ministry in the first place and after the events of the Catecandre I think it will be somewhat less squeamish about the cost , esp if it meant greater prosperity could be created or something like that. I mean Marsh could then single handedly wipe out the Set , something harmony can't do due to his intent and the kandra can't do due to being subservient to harmony and being anti violent to a fault , not to mention they are considerably weaker compared to a mistborn or fullborn Does Marsh have the knowledge as to the spike placement ? Would having so many spikes , esp ones dealing with spiritual aspects warp ur soul and the entire process end up being deleterious ? If so could it be healed by additional gold spikes and gold compounding ? Or will the entire concept not work at all ? Like maybe the cracks in the spirit web can't be protected no matter how much u compound ? Or maybe u would several spikes compounding determination constantly to overcome it ? Any thoughts ?
  8. @robardin wait what ? Or something twiddled in him by Harmony, for all we know, similar to the way he seems to be able to draw an A-pewter-like effect from the mists. Seriously that happenedi. In which chapter of which book ? damnation. Also yeah I wonder if resonances will manifest if u compound . Nice argument.
  9. Unsealed metalminds right. damnation why didn't I think of it . And with being mistborn. He can definitely compound then. But wait he just ate the Lerasium. I thought Mr Brandon said that he knew what it's real purpose was and oh so I guess he has achieved that goal along with the side effect of becoming mistborn. Noice
  10. So right now we know Hoid has a bead of Lerasium , has done much research on selish magic systems and it can be inferred he has done research on and might have access to Taldainite magic systems as well. He also might be bonded to a Cryptic , giving him access to illumination and transformation. He has conclusively been known to have used Yolish lightweaving and nalthisian awakening. He also seems to use fortune and healing through some as yet unknown method , possibly through some pre-shattering magic system. He probably has access to other pre or post shattering magic systems as well. Let's just refer to these as Hoidbindings. So now my question is how many of these magic systems can he access ? How many of the magic systems have been bound by Hoid ? He has been implied to use allomancy . Is it true ? If it is , I guess it's due to his access to Lerasium somehow , right ? But he has been said to be a feruchemist as well . This I don't understand. 1). Is it true ? 2). Feruchemy doesn't seem to have an analog to Lerasium , although I guess u could alloy it with atium to get a feruchemy endowing compound ??? 3). I read this other theory somewhere that Hoid is the progenitor of all ( atleast all scadrian) feruchemists. Like ,it said that feruchemy was a pre shattering magic system and Hoid during his newly immortal ill spent youth had a dalliance or two with some women in Scadrial giving rise to the Terrismen. I actually thought this was true but after joining the Shard I realize it's probably false , right ? 4). So then how else could he have acquired or will acquire feruchemy ? Or is it a deadend , that is, feruchemy is totally off limits to him ? So this is my question . Also could u guys list out all the Hoidbindings he has in potential or in reality , pre and post shattering. Thank you.
  11. So twinborn have resonances , and compounders are a subset. So does miles have a resonance ? Is it his pain blindness ?
  12. Ok I read white sand volume 3 yesterday and I have a few questions 1).Ok so in the comic u see a female face in the clouds watching the actions going on below. I know it's autonomy but does it signify anything , like is autonomy seriously interested in human affairs ? or is it just that the artist thought it would be cool to give obvious Clue's to the greater nature of the Cosmere ? 2). How come Baon is way more powerful at Sandmastery than even Drile ? 3). If overmastery leads to increased power , could Drile use it to eventually control as many as 50 or more ribbons ? Could Kenton learn to control 25 or more ribbons eventually ? 4). Why did the Diem keep this knowledge a secret ? I mean , sure keep it secret in the training years but after that let it be known. For example , after testing kenton's determination and his success even when restricted to a single ribbon , they could have easily told him the secret and made him powerful . 5). I'm guessing the singer at the going to darkside is Hoid. What in damnation is he doing in Taldain ? I thought Bavadin stormin hated him . I thought he would never risk going there. I mean roshar is one thing. Odium was kinda lying low and I guess the other shards cloaked or protected him intentionally or not. Besides Rayse had a lot of other stuff to deal with , so he couldn't focus on hoid. But taldain is a mono-Shardic planet and autonomy is pretty free . Hell he got found out by endowment and she warned him off. I'm sure bavadin won't be near as generous. She even says her child/avatar on obrodai is programmed to hate him .
  13. Now i don't think this is of any great import to the current events on Roshar but I gotta say I loved the story of Sadees. He sounds like a hybrid character , like a cross between Alexander the great and Timur the lame. So my question is , how much do we know about him ? Are there any WoBs about him. Like why was he called the Sunmaker ? How much of Roshar did he conquer ? Now it's clear he conquered Alethkar , Jah keved and Herdaz . But did he conquer both Tu bayla and triax or just one of them ? We know he invaded Azir but was he successful in conquering all of the makabaki region , what about the kingdoms ringing the Purelake ? Did he try to invade Shinovar or were the Mountains too formidable to cross ? I'm guessing he didn't invade Iri or Rira , seems too far away to me . Could it be that he conquered Thaylenah , that would explain how they are like half vorin , but I guess it's not true. The alethi never have a naval power. They say so much in oathbringer I think. Could he have stumbled upon Urithiru ? Is he just a fringe character like Alendi in mistborn or does he have a greater influence in the future of the series ?
  14. Also would mistborn suffer from savanthood if they flared tin like spook ? Would tlr also suffer from negative side effects of general allomantic savanthood and compounding savanthood ??
  15. U know I think I would enjoy that as homework . Also @Tommen , tvlavk would have enslaved, raped , robbed or even killed shallan if she hadn't made him think she was worth more alive and in the shattered plains than dead/enslaved. During the entire journey , he keeps shallan in maximum discomfort to make her feel more dependant on him. At the end she gives him 5 emerald broams. I think that's enough reward for how he treated her. Also u must remember that all lighteyed , including Dalinar and possibly jasnah , adolin , renarin are ok with slavery. They would of course treat them well and give them more freedom . They are like fish swimming in water. The systems all they know. While they can think about being better , like jasnah and Dalinar do. It's not everyone's cup of tea. Esp not shallan as she has enough problems as it is to worry herself ragged about.
  16. Yeah that makes sense. Nice point . Also welcome to the shard
  17. So when hoid meets kelsier in the well of Ascension , he kinda implies he was behind tlr's fall and refers to kelsier as a tool or something . So did hoid want to release Ruin so that Ruin could have battled odium. Hoid does say to dalinar that he would be willing to watch roshar burn , with tears yes but with no regret if it meant odium would fall . Wouldn't the same case apply for Scadrial ? It would explain what hoid was doing staying on Scadrial knowing ruin would destroy the planet, instead of hopping back into the cognitive realm and leaving Scadrial behind after pocketing the Lerasium. Hoid can live through a lot of things but I doubt he could live through the destruction of a world. Unless of course he had already made a deal with ruin , he would free ruin and in return ruin had to do him a favor , a destructive one ofcourse. So could it be true or did he someother reason to stay ? If so what was the reason ? Was it just hoids Spidey sense going wrong or did he think he could simply ingest the Lerasium and compound to survive the destruction of the planet and the vacuum of space ? Did he have enough metals to do that ? Wait but if preservation were to be splintered would allomancy and compounding work ? Wait did hoid intend to do harm to Vin ? Like I know he can't hurt anyone but maybe he could have given Vin false info so that she would invade fadrex and ruin would get his atium ? Also how did he manage to beat up kelsier so bad in the cognitive realm. I thought he had some sort of cognitive impedence regarding violence but he beat up kel in the CR so.... Oh is it that he couldn't actually harm kel , like he could beat him but apart from feeling pain kel wouldn't he harmed . Sorry I'm going all over the place now. My main question is was he behind tlr's fall ? Holy storm , Maybe mare was a female herald sent to manipulate Kel by hoid. She wasn't a tineye , she had a Spren or something . I mean it's a long shot but maybe the way he uses fortune helped him form a nebulous plan that worked with ruin's cooperation ?
  18. Ok so aona and skai , were they friends ? lovers ? Enemies ? Or was it more of a master -servent relationship with Dominion being the master ? Did they settle together or did Dominion follow Devotion knowing she would the easiest to ,u know dominate . Was skai thinking of establishing power over all or atleast a few shards and started with devotion ? But khriss mentions that d and d spent a lot of time molding society on SEL so could it be that Dominion was like consolidating his power or getting used to it. Like harmony has no idea what he should or shouldn't do with his power. I suppose the Sixteen faced similar problems at first. Or maybe they were both at war and weakened each other , thereby making it easy for rayse to finish them ? Also did aona hate dominion's hold over her and when odium came rebelled against him but was double Crossed ? Or was it the opposite and Dominion joined forces with odium to bring down devotion. I mean , skai probably knew rayse and thought he was a friend ? Or maybe Aona thought that way ? Also why did odium kill aona ? I mean wouldn't it more efficient if he could have made her devoted to him. Have her help in crushing other shards and then either betray her or just keep devotion like a pet ? How much do we know about them and thier actions and plans ?
  19. I think it's set on another continent or atleast south of the great desert of Opelon. It might be faux meso-american , faux west African or faux Indian. I hope it's faux Indian. India gets represented very little even tho it has as much historical impact as China or Rome . I really wish Mr. Sanderson would rectify that .
  20. I would love it if the third one were based on India. India has been represented very little in fantasy.
  21. So what will it be , stormlight book 10 or Mistborn era 4 or someother book ?
  22. Well idk what u are talking about , I love shallan. Sure most of her jokes don't quite make u laugh out loud but it's not cringy either. Besides by oathbringer her jokes improve a lot. The only thing I hated about her was that she stole kaladins boots. Jesus ppl of lower eyecolour have things hard enough as it is without lighteyed girls being mean to them. And I think she apologized for that too didn't she ? I don't remember ,maybe she didn't but she did feel really bad about it once kaladin pointed it out in the chasms. Also she was with tyn at the time so peer pressure played a role I guess. I mean she was still a slontze then but that's the only thing I hated about her
  23. Ah like that short story , the ones who walk away from omelas.
  24. What does friendstormed mean ?
  25. Ok so why aren't Spren more common in the Cosmere ? I understand they are like bits of shards namely honor and cultivation. But why only roshar ? Sure seons and skaze are basically Spren but they aren't nearly as diverse as Spren , not to mention Spren have entire ecosystems in the cognitive realm. Hmmm could if be that Spren could exist on Sel as well , but the dor is dangerous to them too , like sel's cognitive realm is the magical equivalent of a nuclear wasteland from what I've read and so could it be that only the seons and skaze which reside completely in the physical realm survived ?? Also are Spren present on Ashyn ? Khriss says they are present on braize too but idk. I'm pretty sure braise is only inhabited by parshendi ghosts . And it's stated that Highstorms were phenomenon that existed before the Shattering , albeit in a less magical way . So could Spren have existed pre shattering as well ? Maybe they would all be non sentient and very less diverse and rarer but could they exist without Shardic investiture . If that's the case , then again why only Roshar or the greater Rosharan system as the case maybe ??? Also there's the ambiguity about ambition. Like we know she was splintered but don't know if her investiture was contained into the cognitive realm like the dor , but I guess it probably wasn't. So could Spren also exist somewhere in the threnodite system or the hypothetical planet where ambition went to die ?
