  1. Down by 199. That's less than 200! We can do this!
  2. I have been wondering something about the Highstorms for a while... are the storms circular? Like, does the stormwall envelop the storm completely? Or is it just at the front of the storm?
  3. THOSE OF YOU WITH SMART PHONES! It appears you can vote with them.
  4. I'm getting the word out to fellow Mistborn fans who aren't on the site. And asking random friends who owe me favors to vote as well. And finding new computers. XD
  5. I pronounce Szeth "Zeth".
  6. Vote vote vote! She's still just barely ahead!
  7. A Very Potter Sequel. It's quite excellent. If you have not yet seen it, SEE IT.
  8. I think it's likely that they're different for the same reason to magic systems are different. Different Shards produce different effects, and it would make sense that their splinters would be different. Endowment "endows" a bit of him/herself to a person to make them Returned. Also, remember that Endowment is the only living Shard that we know of who has made splinters. Aona's and Skai's Shards were splintered after they died, maybe that's why Seons are sentient as well... leftover sentience from the greater whole.
  9. This, and swords are also naturally a weapon made for nothing but fighting. The way that a sword is forged makes it a much more natural weapon than a hammer. It's also possible that some or all of the creatures that have stonelike skin can regenerate themselves if smashed but not cut, or have some other resistance to being smashed. Size of the creature could also be a factor. It's also faster to kill something that you can cut effortlessly through. These are also reasons why the sword is the primary weapon in most pre-gunpowder warlike nations.
  10. If I ever get out of the easy that is statistics and get back into real math, you'll probably see me posting here. This is really thoughtful, man. And I agree... math is its own fun.
  11. About splinters not having sentience... while we still don't know that Seons are Splinters, it is likely that they are, and they are definitely sentient. The only thing we know about Splinters are that they were never human, but that doesn't mean that they can't be sentient.
  12. Everything from AVPM and AVPS is amazing.
  13. I spent all day listening to RENT and Lonely Island nonstop. I don't know why those two went so well together.
  14. He'd only be a Sliver if he gave up his power over the internwebs, though.
  15. The original trilogy would not compare well with our world's progression, but that was only due to the Lord Ruler controlling progression (stopping it). The future books will probably be easy to compare to a technological time on Earth.
  16. I agree that books 8 and 10 of WoT went kind of downhill, but book 9 is one of my favorites. Nothing wrong with using you're real name, especially if it is as cool as E. Hyde. As was said earlier here, Hyde's first name is Edward.
  17. I don't mind if someone does like a Sanderson book, as long as they don't say "this book sucks." That's when the rage begins. However, I too would be awkward if someone told me they didn't like Mistborn.
  18. Don't worry about hurting my feelings, I didn't write the book. I accept all opinions on books that don't involve "This book by Brandon Sanderson sucks." That's where I put my foot down. Possibly on someone's neck. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to buy it until it's in paperback. While I do enjoy the series, there are a lot of books I want to read right now, many of which are by authors I like better than Paoloni. I just don't feel that excitement that I felt when A Dance with Dragons was announced, for example, or Alloy of Law, or Memory of Light.
  19. I have been listening to Eine Kleine Nachtmusic this evening.
  20. You should explain it so we have the ability to care about it.
  21. I'm going to read it, and I didn't mind Brisingr much. It wasn't as good as Eragon or Eldest, but still a good book.
  22. I would like to announce that it is time for a cuteness overload.
  23. He's fueling his theorymaking with his... other theorymaking powers!
  24. Brandon seemed to imply that Yesteel could have made that many. Do we actually know how many Breaths it took to make Nightblood?
  25. We totally are intelligent. You can't exactly call someone who misspells Mistborn as Mists of Time a fan of the series, can you?
