  1. I feel like an anime/cgi style would be best. Why? Several reasons. First, you would make the characters closer to how they are described in the books. Second, it would be great for showing landscapes that don't exist on Earth. Third, the shardplate, surgebinding, stormlight, spren, and soulcasting would all require tons of cgi even if it was done live action. I am sort of hoping for an Avatar-like movie with super realism but I don't think that's in the budget. Sanderfan bakesale, here we come!

  2. Yes! I have discovered more things!

    1. A lot of glyphs have a central V/U shaped line in the middle. This could symbolize something- Letters F, J, T, D, - or it could be a way to make the glyphs prettier
    2. Several (if you are willing to stretch the pheonemes around) translate roughly to their corresponding heralds. These glyphs are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th fundamental glyphs
    3. They seem to omit vowels. Don't know why. It is possible that Thaylen and Alethi were originally one language - both omitting vowels
    4. The 4th glyph -which should correspond to Vev in some form- is a mess. Maybe it's just me.
    5. My mouse-painting skills need work.

  3. Personally, I feel like Shaladin is the way I would interpret the books. However, it will probably end up being Shadolin. We haven't yet seen in instance in Brandon's books where an arranged/political marriage fails. I don't think he would change this now. However, it would add potential plot points. One of my personal (and extremely unlikely) theories is that Shallan chooses Kaladin over Adolin, causing Adolin to go on a long journey of personal growth and by extension, Radianthood.

    Kaladin al'Thor

I noticed my last time reading Words of Radiance that there were several times-- vines that were on Adolin's shardblade as he summoned it. So I was wondering if maybe the Radiant who used it had was an Edgedancer?

    Brandon Sanderson

    You are right.

    Kaladin al'Thor

You mentioned before that it would be possible to revive a dead shard[blade], but it would be very difficult--

    Brandon Sanderson

    Very difficult.

    Kaladin al'Thor

Like I think what you said is that it would have to be the same person that broke the bond?

    Brandon Sanderson

    That would be the-- Yeah.

    Kaladin al'Thor

So if it was an Edgedancer's blade if he made those same oaths could potentially he…

    Brandon Sanderson

That would most likely not be enough. Something else would have to happen. Good guess though.

    Questioner [PENDING REVIEW]

Is Adolin going to be an Edgedancer?

    Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

    That's a RAFO.

he doesn't explicitly deny it? But while I think there is a possibility of Adolin becoming Radiant, the circumstances above are likely not going to be the cause.

  4. @Scion of the Mists This thread is intended for satirical predictions. It isn’t serious, so I kept it separate.

    And more theories:

    1. The Parshmen are angered at being removed from the stories and come back in PaulBlartMallCopForm, complete with segways.
    2. Navani, under pressure of the war with the MallCopForm Parshendi, invents something new and unheard of. The tricycle
    3. The tricycle revolutionizes Alethi warfare. There is no need for horses now
    4. Factories are built as parts for tricycles are soulcast in massive amounts
    5. Shallan lightweaves another boyfriend because she didn't have nearly enough drama in her life
    6. Adolin breaks up with Kaladin because of an argument about streamer placement on tricycles.
    7. Kaladin runs away to Braize, where there is nobody to criticize his love of streamers.
  5. @JofwuThank you for your input! I made this its  own thread because I think the oathbringer thread is for understanding the glyphs and grammar. I am applying that knowledge. That thread is also long dead. I realize that it’ll translate into something odd, but it could help us get an idea of how the language works. If these do end up correct, that could give us hints for the next set of glyphs as well as how to create our own.

  6. Y'all might remember @Harakeke's thread from a while back about glyph translation.

I decided I will try and translate the Radiant, Surge, and Fundamental Glyphs. Yes, I know the WoB about the original glyphs not being supposed to translate. Yes, I realize it'll probably be nonsense. Here goes.

Notes: I am using an online editor called Photopea. It is free and works the same, and as well as photoshop. I know this because I have worked with photoshop. I am retrieving glyph translations from the Coppermind. Any and all assistance with this project is appreciated.

    Update 1: 3-19-19

Started translation on ten fundamental glyphs. Finished with 3/10. Letters in parenthesis are unconfirmed or not existing but added for understanding (Like Thaylen)
