  1. Ghost Kel did hemalurgy on himself.
  2. The chemical difference is minimal. I think the second is more probable considering we see heatrails also use rubies.
  3. Maybe but not all spren and radiants. Windrunners and Edgedancers would not uphold such a treaty if it became ethically dubious. I also think that Dalinar is smart enough not to make that kind of oath indefinite. He must be aware that realities in war change as do the value of some types of forces. Even if he is not Jasnah certainly is.
  4. Thank you for the correction. I apologizes if I am being unclear. No method yet exists. If GB and co think they have one and it works that gives them several options. However I see no way to keep this secret indefinitely. Eventually someone will figure out a work around(either a different one or just copy their HW) and then your monopoly is gone along with a lot of your wealth and capital. Possible. However this would require the cooperation or subjugation of the radiants as well as, possibly, the spren. No matter how rich you are you are going to have trouble matching a radiant army in combat. Implications. One: The GB are confident that their method is not replaceable(at least short term). Perhaps the only efficient method involves Sja-anat and there is only one of her. Two: The GB are just looking to make a buck. Three: The GB think that their goals will allow them a good enough position that they can keep it when their monopoly blows up. Four: The GB's are idiots who think they can hold a monopoly indefinitely.
  5. Sure. However he must know he can't keep it a secret forever. Eventually silverlight or Hoid will crack it even if no one else does. This will imperil his monopoly so a long term economic campaign is probably not what he is looking for unless he has a very good reason to suspect his method cannot be replicated.
  6. On an unrelated note why does Mrazie think they can move stormlight off planet if no one else can? I also have a hard time believing that no one can replicate his method and even the best kept secrets don't usually stay that way for long.
  7. If it is the second I think my respect for Mraize just dropped a few points. He had an informant near there who worked on Shallan for months and her presence was public knowledge. Your other theory has more merit but it still implies that Mraize missed a few beets.
  8. Certainly possible. It does beg the question "how did Odium find out?" Sja-anat should know enough to hide herself. Perhaps the GBs are playing her too? They get their spren and then give her to Odium. Side Note: We know have confirmation that Radiants can go to Ashyn and Braize. That could be super interesting even if it does not happen until the back half. Her brothers should still recognize him. WoR early chapters. The GBs were clearly trying to kill Jasnah and all witnesses. They also certainly knew that Shallan was there. Shallan just got lucky. Given the amount of effort that went in to prepping her you would think they would be a little more circumspect in putting her in harms way not to mention taking actions that could alienate her. With you so far. Certainly more plausible. I am actually on board so far. It ties into Tyn's killing. A truth Shallan does not want to acknowledge. She is willing to kill when her life is in danger. An abuse victim lashing at out abuser. However I do not think it plausible that Shallan proactively kills or acts. The one scene that may have been formless acting (Tyn's death) we see them as frantic and scared. Mraize may be relying on that as how to deal with her next assignment but I still don't think it matches the MO of Ialai's killer. Too much planning and not enough threat.
  9. When? She only met Mraize in WoR. Her brothers also don't recognize Mraize so it can't have been at home. This is a somewhat more valid point. However if true it leads to some odd questions. For example Mraize clearly did not know about Shallan's photographic memory. Why train formless at all? Even if he is engineering her family for a particular purpose he seems pretty unable to keep track of his own people and he ordered her assassination. If he only engaged with her during the time skip then why did we get some clues to formless during WoR? Shallan has already moved several iotas. Because people are different and magic is involved not to mention the fictional and fantastical setting Brandon does get much more leeway then he would if he were writing something that was true to life. However feeding into a very negative, very real, and very harmful stereotype is different. Imagine your reaction to Brandon making a gay child molester a character in one of his books.
  10. Proving nonexistence is definitionally impossible. Even if she exists I have a hard time believing that she could fool Pattern(Veil can't) and that Mraize would be able to interact with her long enough to both train her and get her on their side. That is leaving aside the whole DID does not work like that and this kind of depiction is really harmful argument.
  11. Which gets them money. So far so good. However given how knowledgeable and connected their organization is they could get "more wealth then any man can spend" quite easily. There has to be something more. I have personally rejected the idea. Even considering it now. Veil states Formless is "unreal" and her very name implies that she does not in fact have a fully realized identity yet. Also how could Shallan find formless Formless has no experience or skills Shallan does not nor as far as an opponent is concerned is there really a difference. Gavilar new who Kelek was. I think it is implied by the way he talks about his "friend" that they are different people.
  12. The set seem to have an actual political agenda. We have seen no indication of what the GBs are up to.
  13. But why do the GB care? They are an organization who has a devoted and well organized following. The plan they are implementing probably will take decades to come to fruition(it really already has). Many of the people working on it will not survive to see it happen. What is it that makes them so intent on getting this to work.
  14. I am explaining badly. We are aware of what stormlight can do. The question, at least for me, is what motivates the GBs to get it.
  15. But they can already get the stormlight to spren. Why do they need it off world?
  16. I mean sure but so could ordinary currency/secrets. Why Stormlight?
  17. Assuming Mraize is not lying(he usually is not) then Ishna, or Gaz seem the only possibilities.
  18. An interesting idea Metals can only be used to obtain investiture in specific amounts, by specific people, and remain kinetic meaning they are hard to store. Which would make you money on Nalthis? However why do they want to do this?
  19. It is also easy to obtain in large quantities. However I am not sure what they want to use it for.
  20. Nice move Resteres. Looks like Shallan might get cosmere aware. Why do the GB want investiture off world? Mraize wants to bond Sja-anat. Why on earth? Mraize says he can get investiture off roshar. Even Hoid doesn't know that trick.
  21. Where do we know that from?
  22. Not exactly. That was a manipulation of connection. Preservation was already dead at the time. It was just a fast way of grabbing the power.
  23. I am not. That is your assumption. I merely am pointing out that Kaladin personally has problems with it and those probably came from the cultural conditioning of his upbringing as reasons why this relationship is unlikely.
  24. He would be making concessions to Rosharan customs. If he wants to work his way into the palace this would be required. Additionally, while normal northerners don't know about medallions worldhopping northerers almost certainly do.
  25. Many people did speculate that it was in fact a feruchemist when our first look at the prolong came out. Back then the language also made it more obvious. I personally don't think it is a full feruchemist however I do think a fering or maybe a fering with medallions is a likely possibility.
