  1. He closed his eyes and listened. Justice was not about him it was about those around him. "I vow" Luther whispered "to serve the community that I am a member of to the best of my ability. I shall follow their customs and defer to their leaders I will help them survive and grow." "These words are accepted" said the voice in his mind.
  2. DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Others also agreed with Hoid's beliefs.
  4. If you accept this theory though Elend can now push so hard that his folds in space overwhelm the inquisitor's(if I understand this correctly).
  5. He sees not was is but what will be Odiums power Jasnah. Skybreaker: "Well if we are going to properly execute this team building exercise we must have an exact plan of action listed out ahead of time that full encapsulates all probable outcomes and how we are to respond to them both emotionally and physically." The Stoneward lumbered down the stairs Stoneward: "Last vacation should be done again." Most of the other Radaints looked surprised. Elsecaller:"How did you here about it?" Truthwater(Who no one had noticed was there the entire time): "Um... I thought it would be a good idea..." TO BE CONTINUED...
  6. Their was a bunch of metal on the battlefield. It would not have been hard for Elend to find a bunch of suitable anchores
  7. So you think he is still in the South but hiding?
  8. We know that the storms and presumable something like the Stromfather existed on Roshar before the arrival of the shards(otherwise who or what allowed the parsh to change forms). Did entities resembling the Nightwatcher and Sibling also exist?
  9. Fine. As far as we know Hoid has never lied to Shallan.
  10. But Hoid has not lied to Shallan ever.
  11. Hoid says she can theoretically and in this case I don't think he is wrong.
  12. But her problems are related to her skills. You have to know the truth "Before you can expand on it." Just like you should know the law before you break it. In Kingkiller Kvothe can no longer be the person he was because he is not seen as the person he was and no longer sees himself as the person he was. Shallan's truth "I am a murderer" could have also been stated "I am a protector." Both are true and a lightweaver can make one or the other true.
  13. Great idea if you are amazing with a boomerang and it has a handle otherwise you are going to loose some fingers.
  14. Luther felt furious with himself. Discipline had saved him had made him Radiant had given him a companion and had allowed him powers beyond anything he had previously imagined and yet he still could do nothing. "What is the point of being Radiant if it does not allow me to find harmony! To foster peace! To protect others!" He shouted. "I swore the oaths because order allows me to guard growth and ease pain but now I cannot stop a companion from hurting? Justice will not allow me to aid another!" Niscroc looked at him and Luther sighed. You are not wrong to be wary of human emotion but I fear for myself. "Order allows us to live and work together but it does not always aid those that who need it. Never in human history has any society perfectly served its members. I have only been part of this society for a single day and already I failed them by not bringing the one who threatened it to justice. What am I to do?"
  15. Its not that. I am just irritated with myself for not being able to communicate my point to a sympathetic audience.
  16. Yes! But I don't see them as lies and neither does Shallan at the time. As Pattern says "You cannot keep all the lies, only the most important." He was attracted to her ability to see things completely differently from the way that they actually were (like how she saw that her brother could be kind and that her father was still human) and the way she made it true (around her her brothers acted better and her father was more like an actual father). You would describe these as lies they are not. She is giving the truth a new face and making it act that way.
  17. Again you would say lying but we do not just lie we actually alter the truth by lying I am just trying to explain but it is hard. When Shallan fight the Midnight Mother she says that she is lying to herself by telling saying that she is not afraid but as a result of those "lies" she actually looses her fear so doesn't that mean that lying to herself about not feeling fear made her fear go away?
  18. One step at a time then. The uncertainty principle says that perception has an effect on the subject. Just by observing you change the outcome of an experiment. This happens in the real world at the partial level. Similarly humans often act differently when they are around other humans.
  19. That is how a none lightweaver would see them. This is not how I(a lightweaver) see them. Remember how Elhokar would delude himself into thinking that his anger at the parshendi actually made a difference in the course of the war? To you this sounds foolish if not ridiculous, to a lightweaver this is almost sensible. We have a deep rooted understanding in how our perception influences ourselves and events around us however no matter how hard we try(and we do try) we can't make up down just by thinking about it that way this is why we need truths to progress.
  20. We have no point of views on either Elhokar or Tein but if you look carefully Shallan spends quite a bit of time discussing the nature of truth and you should notice that both Tein and Elhokar live in worlds that seem a bit different from what the rest of the characters see.
  21. Cryptics are based on the fundamental mathematics that underlie the functions of our universe. If you have read Moving Mars they call it the Bell Continuum basicaly our universe's rule book and the patterns that govern it. They would be attracted to a lot of different kinds of people but mostly those who (like me) have a high level grasp on things that can crudely be described as the uncertainty principle. We understand implicitly that there is no objective truth(much to everyone else's chagrin). I was using Truthspren as a generic as we don't have a real word for what they bond yet.
  22. Excellent reasoning. Just one point. We don't actualy know what all the unmade do or the mechanics of how. Yelig-Nar grants a bunch of powers for example but we don't realy know why or how.
  23. Alternatively the only person who could hold both power had to be a person who might be described as a living contradiction. He would have to be able to kill yet not be a warrior he would have to rule despite not realy fitting in with the job.
  24. Railer or Red Five
  25. Is their something special about the 1111th post?
