  1. No WoBs indicate radiants do need specific gems when soulcasting.
  2. The above for obvious reasons. Helped me get back on track once. Also Lightsong's jealousy at the even more useless people around him has always struck me a one of the most fascinating things Brandon has ever written.
  3. The eye color matches their order gem. The glow is the same from descriptions. We have seen no indication of strength increase via a specific gem. It only seems to matter for soulcasting.
  4. The Mistborn turning out to be more then just a mistborn makes a lot of sense as a last minute reveal. Also we have already met evil Mistborn before. I suppose taking them down without being a mistborn could be interesting but with aluminum bullets it is not like they are invincible.
  5. Something like that yeah.
  6. Maybe you can throw bits of your power kind of like a punch? Maybe shards have "week points" like nerves?
  7. Even someone like Shallan? No one seems to know where he is. I suspect it is a remote and secure location. He seems to give orders by spanreeds. He was dead. They don't seem to know about King T. With the exception of Mraize who might under estimate him no one does. He was trying to contact Venli(he did not know at the time but if he made contact that is where he would have gotten) and was getting unnervingly close. That was much much latter and the GB may have been trying to kidnap Taln instead. Remember they specifically warned Shallan not to kill him. Giving someone a blade as trust and test is not hand wavy. In fact it is kind of a minor heroic saga on its own. Nale is gathering evidence on how this person behaves with a blade.
  8. Thanks.
  9. Of course not it is just my theory on how it works that I believe is self consistent with observed data.
  10. You think the connection is traceable? Also how does one capture such a being? It could have a good 10 main bodies if it wanted to.
  11. Those were his two first kills and he did not know what he was doing yet. Also he did splinter them it just did not go the way he intended. They are considered splintered you can check the coppermind page.
  12. Exactly!
  13. Where do we know this from? Yeah but without a mind directing it it should react predictably.
  14. That is kind of silly but this is what happens when computers are in charge rather then the totally awesome librarians. Be warned! Only two books of the trilogy are finished and we have been waiting forever for book 3!
  15. Depending on the library(mine uses overdrive) you should be able to get them through ebooks sometimes.
  16. I think it more likely that he was given the shards as a test to see what he would do with them. A test I would say he failed. He lost his shards, his life, and did no one any good, also he may not have followed the law explicitly while doing so. This also makes sense. That is what I think. Contrary to popular opinion lawyers are not magical. Especially in a nation where a class of people are above the law. We don't know what he actually knew. He can do a lot of damage(personal friend to the most powerful person on the planet remember?). His stated goal is to bring back the desolations to bring back the Herald. He does not actually know how this works but he is actually getting close to causing a desolation. If he contacted Venli of the listeners for example she could have helped him along and that was what he was trying to do at the time. Idiotic fanatics can be easily deterred from their stated goals? Please tell me how. I have a few genocides to stop(this is an example not an insult). Then who? Keep timing in mind.
  17. We don't know much about era three except that it is going to be around 1980s tech level and something of a spy thriller. However given 80s technology and resources the globe should be pretty well understood. This means that people should know where the perpendicularities are unless someone decides to keep them a secret(IE the government). From this I think we should be looking at a threat that comes from the perpendicularities one that the government wants to keep secret. Aliens! So far what I have proposed is kind of par for the course believe it or not. Landing of aliens have been proposed several times by people on the shard but of the alien species we know I can only think of one that is actually super scary and capable of worldhopping. The sleepless of Roshar. I imagine a Rosharan sleepless with a grab bag of magical gizmos from across the cosmere and some innate abilities that have been acquired as well. Such a villain would be super hard to kill and could be played a lot of different ways. What does the morality of a never sleeping thousand year old immortal look like? What do you all think? Also how on earth does one defeat such a person?
  18. I refuse.
  19. Paradox
  20. But Taravangian's own thoughts indicate that he was in on and may have helped the assassination. WoR I-14 That is generally a good idea when hunting someone dangerous. Cops go with partners but that does not indicate that they must always be accompanied. He is a leader. He seems to be the ranking member on the shattered plains. He is of the third dahn a confident and personal friend to some of the most powerful people on the planet and a highly experienced general. He is super important. Other then killing potential Radiants we have no idea what the Skybreakers actually do. However given that the appearance of bonded individuals is a recent occurrence and the fact that they have been around for over two thousand years I think they do more then just that. He was looking for Heralds and trying to cause a desolation something that Nale is fighting very hard to prevent. The Skybreakers have motive and means. We don't know when he got the shards and that actually might be a good test. What do they do when given the power to do what they want? Remember they have dozens of surgebinders at their disposal. Taking those shards back would be like candy from a baby if he got out of hand. Well he was not. Mraize agrees and he had a blade. Why not? They have good reasons for doing so. Unless you can prevent on obvious way and reason for a given lie then you don't really have a choice.
  21. Good catch! My Observations indicate that the GBs are telling at least part of the truth. He is not a Skybreaker yet. Quite possibly for those reasons in particular. Interestingly on swearing ideal 1 they are cleared of all previous crimes. It seems like a good idea for any less then 100% legal operations to be carried out by these people. Also your interpretation of observations are subjective. We don't actually know much about what Heleran was like personally or what normal Skybreaker requirement is like. Giving someone a shardblade and having them carry out missions that reinforce their understanding of the law once they have shown a potential for radiance is actually a good idea as it helps insure that you get Skybreakers and not say another Edgedancer that you have to kill. How is killing a shoemaker? Killing people on a battlefield is probably legal though. Do we know if they always travel in pairs? If so from where? He is trying to find radiants and become one. Also he wants to cause a desolation. Also just being Amaram should be a capital offense. He has not been accepted he is still interning. But Heleran is not powerful. He only got the shards from his employer and that could go to anyone and be used just as easily by almost anyone. Taravangian actually claims to have arranged that and he is not lying. Why not? She knows how he died by now. Yes she does. They told her about them. As any good lightweaver knows. Just telling a bit of the truth is often a much better option then lying. Outright lying to someone with an eidetic memory is problematic.
  22. Exactly as the Blackthorn says. Do what I say not what I do.
  23. Yes. Do exactly as Nale does.
  24. We are also describing combat here. Combat can take a lot of forms and the only living experienced combatant at the shardic level seems to be Odium who is not sharing his experiences with the general public. Squeamishness alert! Vin's defeat of Ruin was probably from a shardic standpoint a lot like just smashing into someone, you do damage but the entire body does not break down immediately. Khriss described Leras's death as strangulation by Ruin which makes sense. Ruin focused his attacks on Preservation's mind depriving it until the vessel collapsed. This is a bit like a person getting brain damage from lack of oxygen. Their body is actually mostly intact afterward but they are helpless against more damage. Honor from what I can tell get Odium in a hold. Odium struggled unceasingly against it and managed to damage Honor someone at some point. You can't block every hit every second of ever day forever. So when the opportunity happened however it happened he smashed Honor breaking large amounts of his internal system. I think normally when Odium breaks a shard these days he smashes the "comatose" vesseless investiture until it breaks and splinters.
