  1. Having bided his time in silence, watching and waiting, the man finally saw his chance to jump in and take control. Flying in from off screen, where he had been observing what was happening, the man approached a small group of the remaining Shadowbirds, and imposed his will on them. It wasn't too difficult, given that they had already been under the control of someone else for so long. They seemed to welcome him in, and enfold his mind within theirs. With almost a snap, his mind was suddenly flooded with a stream of images, sounds, and feelings foreign to his body. He was flying in every direction at once, using his wings to maneuver through the air currents. Swooping and diving, searching for his next prey. Suddenly feeling momentum, the man snapped back to his own body, realizing he was falling toward the water below. Reverting control back, the man focused on keeping his mind just separate enough from the swarm to maintain his own bodily functions. His planning had worked. He had been able to take over a small group of the now mindless Shadowbirds, and now his potential was even greater. He called the few he had to him, and inspected them. One in particular caught his eye, not for any real or meaningful reason, but it looked even more fierce than the rest. He Bonded to it, and manipulating Connection further, connected it firmly to others in a more dominant way. Imposing his will on it, the Shadowbird changed before his eyes, gaining a higher level of individuality. As he did this, he felt the weight of the other birds on his mind lessen, and felt the mind of the new Queen in his own. He hadn't expected things to go down in the cavern exactly as they had, but it was no skin off his teeth. He got what he had wanted, after all. Now to go find the remaining flocks, and see what could be done about them.
  2. Fae watched with curiosity as the liquid formed itself into words, and then attuned the Rhythm of Anxiety as the lights went dim, and things began breaking. "What's going on!?" She yelled somewhat shakily as she backed away from the bar.
  3. Here is my Rep character. Alan Smedry @Lord Meeker
  4. Laonin followed Mack to the room they had been assigned to hold the meeting in, and when offered a seat, took it. He listened to what Mack had to say, and then unexpectedly found himself the center of attention. Standing up, Laonin began speaking. "Well, over the last year my team and I have focused our attentions on some of the poorer districts in town. We've primarily focused on fixing what remains of the buildings that existed before the city was devastated. We haven't had the resources, or the manpower, to build anything new. We've worked in areas where people are living on the street, and tried to restore a lot of the larger buildings in order to provide homes to the largest number of people possible. I've used Forgery to restore many of the buildings by altering their past to never have been destroyed in the first place, and we at one point had a Channeler and an Elantrian repairing buildings in their own fashion. We have more recently been working on properly furnishing the buildings that we repair. My apprentice has been smithing day to day accessories, for the convenience and comfort of the residents of these buildings. There is of course only so much a small team such as mine can accomplish on their own, which is the main reason I'm here. To be a part of a larger organization, to maximize our efforts." as Laonin explained, he became more impassioned by his speech, and once he finished he sat back down. "So that's what we've done. I know there are many things that could be improved upon."
  5. Fae carefully picked up her glass of water and took a sip. She managed to spill some on herself, due to her hand shaking from the strain, and promptly stopped storing strength. Now with her full capabilities about her, she took another drink out of her cup, then surveyed the room. This place was quite busy. Perhaps other people had been contacted in regards to this job she had been told about. Though she wasn't sure what to look for, the informant had been pretty vague.
  6. @The Grumpy Elantrian The boy looked up at Alask when he opened the door. "I've got a message here from a, Laonin Kungli. He says his initial meeting went well, and he has gone to Newcago for a meeting with the members of the Union itself, to plan. That's it." Finishing his message, the boy ran off. @I think I am here.
  7. Fae walked into the Tavern. She was currently filling her Pewtermind, so it was actually difficult for her to get the door open. She walked over to the bar, trying to stay a bit away from the group of people already there, and waited for the bartender to finish with their other customers before saying, "May I have a water please." Looking at the other tenants of the Tavern, Fae attuned the Rhythm of Curiosity.
  8. "Yes I am." said Laonin. "I apologize for how long you had to wait to see me."
  9. Alan listened to what the woman said and responded, "We can't just hand someone over to the DA like that. He hasn't committed a crime. Because there aren't laws yet. Besides, even if he had committed a crime, given the fact that the DA is not a part of this assembly or the governing body, they have no Jurisdiction or claim on anything anyone does here. If people wish for him to be punished for his actions, they by all means we should begin the process of making what he is accused of doing against the law, and then someone can begin the process of prosecuting him. And then if he is later deemed guilty he can be punished in the manner deemed best by the governing body."
  10. Alan looked through his papers once again, attempting to sort through cookie recipes, blueprints, drawings, and the actual notes for this event. He pulled one out, and held it up reading it. "According to the itinerary I was given we are supposed to go over the following. Taxation, establishing Infrastructure, conducting a Census, Nominating non-elected government positions, establishing Defense, Starting impeachment proceedings, establishing a Justice system, Spending and budgeting, and Appointing the Chancellor. Quite the laundry list of items to go through. Though given that this is our first-ever meeting, I assume we have a lot more to discuss than we will on future meetings." Setting this sheet of paper down, Alan continued to sort through his assortment of papers.
  11. Laonin walked through the front doors, marveling at the construction of the room. It was masterfully made, with elegant designs, and sturdy fortifications. And someone had decided to build the entire thing out of ice, of all things. Which normally wouldn't work, but it seemed unusually cold here, which explained that. He was in awe of the sheer magnitude of it, when Mac spoke up. Realizing he was in the presence of royalty, something he had not been expecting, Laonin bowed to the Queen, but stayed quiet. Knowing it was best to remain silent until spoken to. Laonin observed the goings on, and waited alongside Mac. It was definitely chilly here, especially when compared to the heat of a forge he was normally inclined to.
  12. *Slightly before Laonin went to the Craftsmen* Laonin came downstairs after changing, and saw Alask. "Ah, Alask. Did you sleep well? I know you tend to be very tired some mornings, if it would make it easier on you I can try to Forge you a more comfortable mattress? Or we could go get one somewhere I suppose. Think on it. I'm headed to a meeting currently. There is someone trying to organize a Union to help the city, on a much larger scale than we've been able to, and I was going to go check it out and see what they're up to. I don't anticipate the meeting taking long, but if anything comes up I'll notify you, alright? Derek is working on finishing up a project right now, but if you need help with anything while I'm gone feel free to ask him about it." With that, Laonin walked out the front door, and headed to his meeting. *After the meeting* A small boy knocks on the door to the house, a message in hand.
  13. "Well, that is quite convenient. For as much as Investiture can cause death and destruction, I am glad to see it is just as easily used for creation. I let my people know I would be meeting with you, so I just need to send them a message saying I'm headed to Newcago, and if they choose to tag along, then they are free to do so. Thank you again." @MacThorstenson
  14. "Well, I'm afraid I've never been to Newcago. But if you would be willing to tell me how to get there, there's nothing like exploring new places, right?" @MacThorstenson
  15. Laonin listened, and thought over what Mac said. It sounded like a dream come true. This was what he had been trying to work toward over the last year and a half. To try and motivate the city, bring the people up off of their knees, and get them running. With a feeling of true joy in his chest, he said "That honestly sounds beautiful. I understand, and agree, that a firm hand will need to be kept, in order to keep the pieces moving together. And yes, the guilds may try to take this for themselves, we will just need to make sure that doesn't happen. I thank you for your praise, I feel that I do not deserve it, even if some of the things you say about me are true. But yes, I do want a place here. What did you have in mind?" @MacThorstenson
  16. Alan looked up from the papers he was rifling through. "Action? What sort of action can we take? We haven't even gotten around to making any laws for anyone to break! We should at least begin there before trying to do anything else. How many representatives are present? We require house majority to pass anything, so if half the house isn't here we aren't able to take any action." Saying this he turned to his side as though seeking agreement from his partner, bit then remembered the seat was currently empty. "Where are they? It's been a while now." He said, looking st his watch, forgetting it was broken.
  17. Laonin followed the clerk where he led. "You do indeed have quite the expansive facility here. Impressive." Laonin said as they descended a long staircase. Going through a door, the man left Laonin to wait. "Thank you" he said as the door closed on him. Laonin sat and fiddled with a small ring-puzzle he had built the other day, as he waited. Hearing the door open again, he put it away and stood up. Seeing that his host had sat down, Laonin followed suit, and listened intently to what the man had to say. "Well, I share your assessment that the people in power seem to care not for those they have harmed in their struggles. I do not seek power though. In what way will you be working to help this city? You speak of an alliance of guilds, but the guilds are what got us into the situation in the first place, are they not? If you are only intending to gather a large following and try to beat the guilds at their own game, then I may have to decline joining your alliance. But if you truly intend to help the people of this city, people who have gone for so long without hope, or help, of any kind. Then there I think I would be overjoyed to work beside you. I have no large company at my disposal, no factories or large quantities of money. What I do have is an amazingly heartfelt group of individuals who all share my desire for a better Alleycity. I cannot speak for them, I would of course need to ask them if they are willing to participate in this, but if your intentions are true, then I can guarantee that at the very least I will be very glad to join the project." @MacThorstenson
  18. "Hello. My name is Laonin Kungli. I have heard word of some sort of Union being formed here in the city. A Union with the intent of helping the residents of this city who have been harmed by the inter-guild conflicts that tend to be so prevalent here." Laonin says this, walking over to the front desk. "I was hoping to find out some more information about this group, and possibly offer my services to assist in this endeavor."
  19. Laonin walked through the front door. "I'm sorry for my disappearance. There were matters that needed tending to. We managed to find the people, and return them to their newly restored home. Greetings everyone, I'm glad to see you're still here." Laonin gave Ishek a pat on the shoulder as he walked past. "I believe I owe you a pair of glass daggers, correct? Or was there some other form of weaponry you required?" he said to Vtlikv. @The Grumpy Elantrian @Rashek of Bridge Four ----------------- It had been a long year. Laonin and his band of do-gooders had managed to make something of an impact in the city. Though their task was anything but complete. The building next to the Forge had been refitted to meet their needs, providing a comfortable place to rest, and maybe even something of a home. There had been struggles along the way of course. The run in with the Bonefists was not the only time they had to fight against someone who didn't like what they were up to. The Forge was a constant hub of activity. Laonin had taken an apprentice under his wing, who assisted with the day to day operations, and would occasionally join in on "missions". Laonin felt like he had gotten to know each of his friends a lot more, and hoped they felt the same. They of course had each been up to their own activities outside of their project. It didn't consume all of their time, but for Laonin at least it was still something always in the back of his mind. See work had gone into expanding the Forge a bit, to accommodate for the additional activity. With a final clash of iron on steel, Laonin looked up from his work, and across the fire to his assistant. "Well Derek, you've done a fine job with those hinges. I'm finishing up the handle now, so we should be able to deliver the finished product soon." "Thank you sir. I made sure to take extra care with them this time. I wouldn't want to make the same mistake I made last time, I still feel like I can hear that door creaking sometimes." Derek replied. "Aye, I hear you there lad. Have you soon any of the other boys around today? I wanted to check in with them about something.' "No sir. I think I might have seen Alask this morning, but nothing since. I'll let them know you're looking for them if I see them though" "Thank you. I'm going to go upstairs to today up quickly, then I'll be back down." "I'll finish these up, and then start polishing them right away, sir." Knowing the task was in capable hands, Laonin headed up the stairs. @I think I am here. @xinoehp512 @Steel Inquisitive @ShardBreaker
  20. Laonin warily approached the headquarters of The Craftsmen. He had been hearing rumors of a Union being formed for some time, and he was curious what it entailed. He heard they were in it to help the people of the city, something he had been trying to do himself. He had not been alone in his endeavors, but a well organized and we'll funded group could make a larger impact. He hoped that coming uninvited would not be seen in an unfavorable light. He walked through the front doors, and introduced himself to the first person he saw. @MacThorstenson
  21. So when was the next round planned to start again? When you get the puzzles written @MetaTerminal or was there a specific day?
