I would say that this indicated that you could have one or two generations with Breaths off planet based on inheritance. You can get a Breath by inheritance. Then somebody would have to ask where they are if the Recreance lasted for weeks. You see this as convoluted only under the assumption that the False Desolation and Honor's decline were unrelated. And that strikes me as unlikely. Was there ever a better time to try such an attack? And you also assume that Odium did not forsee the capture of Ba-Ado-Mishram and wasn't ready to sacrifice her. Well, to most of Roshar the Heralds are gods The guiding principles the Heralds were famous for applied to their activity on Roshar, not their captivity on Braize. There were no armies to lead or codes of law to be written on Braize.

OK, the problem I see is that his attributes he is fighting against applied to Roshar (the planet) during Desolations. While the Oathpact says that he should be on Braize. Unless you assume Honor planned for them to break their oaths. And that implies that the Desolations were planned events. But they did search for alternatives. In fact they found one. And it worked 4000 years.
