  1. But then you could kill a gold feruchemist just by hitting him on the head hard enough to render him unconcious. It seems to me that you cannot start tapping while unconcious. But the process, once initiated, will continue.
  2. There has been speculation on how Cosmere powers can be combined to achieve FTL travel. It seems to me that there is an aspect missing. Why would they bother? They already know how to worldhop. What possible advantages could a space ship have over just transfering aircraft into the Cognitive realm or building railways there? Even if you will not learn how to exit it at will, most of the trade network is already in place. And space travel has shown itself to be quite expensive. So I am afraid the motivation for research would be simply lacking.
  3. That is the motivation for Brandon to write the novella, but hardly the in-world explanation. Yet shades of animals are supposed to exist. And while it s logical, it does not explain why they are not eaten. Nor while a few more people wouldn't be a better way to spend the resources.
  4. That Vasher was happy to go to Roshar does not allow us to conclude that Cultivation's agents wouldn't have taken him by force anyway
  5. The problem there is Nicrosil. You need silicon for that. That means that you must have electricity.
  6. Elend must have learned that there are more metals than suspected when during the Catacendre people who were affected by the mists did not react to any of the known metals. But that was later. It seems likely that Spook started looking for new metals. How many he found we cannot tell.
  7. The cooperation of the abductee, unless previously known, does preclude an attempt to abduct him. Nor does it tell us that Vasher would have been free to leave Nalthis. In fact a bounty hunter sent after him suggests the opposite.
  8. But that is precisely what Syl rejected. Elhokar needed to be protected, even at the cost of the common good. Yet gets Windspren specifically when he thinks about not failing like he failed in Kholinar, twice. His failure there was not in failing to let people die. He failed to kill to carry out his mission.
  9. There is also the point that the Nightwatcher offered Dalinar a weapon that sounded like Nightblood. So we might speculate that Nightblood and Vasher did not go to Roshar entirely voluntarily. Whom would Cultivation hire to abduct a Returned and steal a superweapon?
  10. "He had to get to the Oathgate. He would not fail like he had in Kholinar. A single glowing windspren burst alight next to him as he reached the top of the hill" On the approach to the location of Thaylen City in Shadesmar we meet windspren a second time. Overcoming his failure in Kholinar hence would give him Plate, hence he needs to swear the 4 th ideal. His failure in Kholinar was an inability to take sides. Could it be : I will defend even those who do not deserve it? - I don't think so, because in Kholinar everybody deserved to be protected. I cannot help myself, it has to be about taking sides.
  11. But why do pigs do that, but other animals which could be milked, like goats or sheep, do not?
  12. Why couldn't the same gem not house a trapped Spren and store the Stormlight powering the device? As long as it is detachable, there is no problem. The problem with Sprens in Soulcasters as a theory is that the number of intact gem stones can go down to zero and you still can restore it to a working state by switching out all teh gem stones. Where is the Spren supposed to be?
  13. But apparently not Soulcasters. You cannot replace all gem stones and the thing keeps working. There is just no storage space for a Spren.
  14. Would he really be that more powerful than an Elantrian with a full library of Aons on his persons and enchanted weapons?
  15. Yes, but Kelsier is very much of the school that in order to make omlettes you got to break some eggs. In some respects he is Jasnah and Dalinar rather than Lift or Kaladin.
  16. Dragons existed before the shattering. So shapeshifting is also original. Also presumably whatever is behind Dragonsteel and the Sho Del.
  17. But why are Shades repelled by pigs? They can hardly be predominantly Muslim or Jewish. It is likely that there is an arcane reason.
  18. He does remember the forgotten and does help the oppressed, but his typical way to do so, would be to kill the oppressors. He is Che Guevara rather than Angelina Jolie. Were he to show more respect for rules, the Skybreakers would actually fit. Nor does he show extreme curiosity or likes to break things. He kills people, destruction as such is not his thing. Hence the Dustbringers don't fit that much either. He is into deception, but not to learn things, but to get close enough to put in his dagger or steal something. Lightweavers does not fit that well, either. Truthwatchers or Willshapers. Capricous describes him well, so Willshapers.
  19. But her parents would surely test her for allomancy. How could she not know?
  20. They could soulcast Einsteinium or Californium. Here comes your pocket nuke. In fact they could do that from Shadesmar. Unkillable ghost with nuclear weapons.
  21. Yes. There are multiple peaks for it to switch between it, aren't there? Besides, why else would Urithiru be where it is? If the Highstorm were Honor's perpendicularity, you should build on the east coast.
  22. That lake must be either extremely young or there is a force that removes the crem.It also contains magic fish. And it's behavior during Highstorms is also very hard to naturally explain. And why doesn't it overflow whenever a Highstorms passes? They drop a lot of rain and the Purelake is incredibly shallow. So I think there is a perpendicularity in it or very close below the ground it rests upon. I think it is Cultivation's as it is so nicely about growing. That means that the one in the Hormeater Peaks must be Honor's, which explains why Urithiru is located close to them.
  23. No. That is just what humans do as we are vertebrates. The most basal split is between sponges and the rest, for example. No, there are differences. one set of antennae vocal cords lens instead of compound eyes No evidence of sucking in water for filtration. While it seems to be a filter feeder, it uses a different mechanism. The Santhid essentially is a giant mobile barnacle. And it has no compund eyes, as Shallan noticed being looked at.
  24. That has the feeling of a quote from scripture or a famous epic. Kaladin just used the same source.
  25. The shock value of the transfer out of Kholinar ending up in Shadesmar would have fallen flat if Jasnah had answered questions about how she escaped.
