That does not really help. It needs to be stronger, not heavier. Obviously there are mountains one kilometer high. The problem is that they are not hollow. Stone lacks in tensile strength. It would help if there were metal inside the rock.

Water & sewage. You are looking at two thousand tons of water per day roughly. How many wells will they need?

Do Adolin and Renarin know the truth?
Oltux72 replied to Kelsier'sGodComplex's topic in Stormlight Archive
The official answer. Hence meaningless. If Dalinar had not told them anything, he'd leave open a gigantic hole for every of his enemies to strike by. Do they know the whole truth that is why Evi was there? Difficult to say. But they most likely know that she died in the fire. And we have to face it. Hed it become known that she joined the enemy without orders, some would have called for her head, had she been anybody but Dalinar's wife. In a sense she was a traitor. -
Given the rather hostile reaction some of those letters caused, having somebody clearly associated with you is not the safest method.

Technically, we know only the first half. It cannot be ruled out that silver is feruchemically usable, but nobody on Scadrial has what silver would store, namely a Cognitive Shadow.or its investiture. We cannot rule out even that silver, once charged, could be burned.

He overthrew the Final Empire. Either you look at the individual case or you look at the end result. Freedom must be defended or reconquered. That will cost blood. Kelsier knew that and accepted it, even for himself.

Spren are shaped by human thoughts. Newer spren have the human two genders as opposed to the Singer four gender system.. If you take that to the full conclusion and Honorspren look like the most human of spren to me, it will be possible.

Yes. These troops are not expected to come back. The comparison to Bridge 4 is fitting. Yes, but with troops you can react to where he is going. You can try to trap a shard bearer. This is still a good idea. Even if the trap is only reducing his mobility, it will have done its job. But then somebody has to go in for the kill.

Renarin's Voidsurge is still related to images. Only that he percieves them from the future rather than generates them. Because he is Voidbinding and Surgebinding. Which means that his resonance will be atypical. Well, then what are the Forms of Power doing? Are they? Some of the symbols like like they could be derived from each other, in direction of voidchart from surgechart. Yes.

Shallan is minor gentry a woman (it matters under Vorinism) 17 a civillian a country bumpkin not entirely right in the head Veden a younger sibling, not the heir not a professional killer. How many has Adolin killed in battle? Hundreds for sure, maybe thousands. Different circumstances, different people, different reactions

Sadeas had no blade. That means needing to predict where they go. As they know that you will try exactly that, that is a difficult task.

Silver: the useless metal... or is it?
Oltux72 replied to Vargo Seldon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No. Silver is a commonly used metal in jewelery and stuff. They for sure tested this on Scadrial. And they have Seekers. Even if the metal did nothing observable, they'd know that it burns. -
But that boils down to one power being better than the other because it´s worse.

Not just Shallan. But let's face it. Shallan gives nobody many reasons to trust her. She doesn't tell a man she intends to marry that she is a demigod, for practical purposes. What exactly do you expect him to do? And yes, he is a bit shallow in the department of relations with women. And he has been told from early youth onwards that his pool of potential brides is limited and it may come to him simply being ordered to marry. And for practical purposes he is getting a mail order bride - actually almost literally. Such a man under such circumstances is not going to show infatuation typical of young western people.

It is also hugely simplified. An awakened power plant is essentially reduced to the generator. No boilers, turbines or gears. Because it is complex. Sure if you have a mechanical iron feruchemist you can make a wheel turn. But you cannot just tell it "rotate with this speed when touched on the top". You need controls and sensors for orientation and so on.

For once he can never be sure of the motivation of the people he meets. Are they after secrets, that is spies? Are they after money? Connections?
-
No, he isn't actually. Not in the sense Adolin is. Dalinar grew up as the younger son of a remote fiefdom's leader before Alethkar was unified. He became a semiferal warrior, not a military officer. Adolin grew up very differently.

Sure they are. They are hummed or used to modulate speech. Or even pulsed by a spren. That is possible. But still why were the Parshendi plundering the granary called monstrous? They clearly weren't. Kaladin would notice an unknown form.

Sensed yes, produced no. If classes of spren can alter the rhythms a Singer can sing then they must have an influence. Now an theory there could be a default state and voidspren just add to it. But why can Venli's spren then sing? And why do the Fused still know the voidish rhythms? It really looks like the gem heart must be filled to generate a rhythm. Culturally yes. But inherited mutilation?

theory Helaran wasn't involved with the Skybreakers
Oltux72 replied to Sedside's topic in Stormlight Archive
Then why risk sending her to the bottom of the ocean? The whole assassination of Jasnah on the ship stops making sense. A warden of Jasnah Kholin going to the Ghostbloods? They could never be sure of her. Why would they watch a Radiant who got her sword at an extremely young age so lightly that she can go of to put herself at the disposal of Jasnah Kholin? -

Then how could Shallan's mnemonic capabilities be unknown to them? And why didn't they try to recruit her earlier? And why did they send another agent with the Soulcaster? -
I am afraid that is a logical shortcut. It is precisely the case of powering an entire nation that is worth it, because it is not the same as powering everybody in it individually. Giving everybody a car with breath engines is not feasible. Building a handful of power plants and electric trains on railways built by giant wooden mecha powered by breath, that is possible. Breath has that characteristic. It forces centralised solutions by having a builtin scalability factor. If you have too little breath for an awakening, it will just not work.

We do have his reaction in the conference room before he learns who she is. He does think that she is pretty. He does think that about many women, but the fact is still there. He spends to much time for him not wanting to be with her. It is the love part we disagree about. Love is to a certain degree a learned response. The core is universal. To expect from a royal, trained military officer the same pattern of responses as from contemporary westerners may or may not fit in this instance. And to extrapolate from that into the future is very risky business.
