But Was that the cage or a housing? If it was the cage, was it the only metal?
-
Yes. But risking a mistake and to be found glowing with Stormlight and without red eyes is just an unnecessary risk. What would create such interference? The point of Venli's check is that Fused cannot hide in the CR. By the spren? It looks like the spren in a fabrial are totally drawn into the PR. There is nothing to see for them.
-
If. Technically it is obviously true that she is viewing the CR with voidlight. Yet the conclusion that she must do it with voidlight is not unavoidable. Using voidlight is an advantage to her. She can renew it without waiting for a Highstorm Her eyes stay red Many Fused carry spheres with Voidlight Cohesion may just be inherently "louder" than using Transportation at minimum level. We know the Surgers are unequal in that regard. Yes. For which we have two possible explanations different fuel different mechanism a combination thereof Yes, it does raise the question why the Screamers do not react to the Fused. Again we have multiple causes, which we have little data to tell apart: the fuel the mechanism (Fused just have a different rhythm when they Surgebind) the Screamers can see the Fused soul at a range comparable to their detection in the CR and are trained to leave them (and the Regals) alone She may have known the plan to drive him to suicide. Or Lezian the Pursuer has quite a reputation.

How does that not apply to all Radiants. Sure Timbre knows that the Knights Radiant of yore did not use Voidlight. But was that because they lacked enough to try it out, or were they incapable? We have not seen how good his Illumination becomes when he gets Voidlight or how much better his Futuresight turns.
-
This looks like a major setback to the Lightweavers. There must be at least one kind of Fused who can look into Shadesmar. They can tell humans and Singers apart.
-
I see the benefit, but not the necessity. Look at the Skybreakers. The 4th oath takes a lengthy quest. We do not have statistics for the Windrunners. In fact, we do not know what the 4th ideal is. The Fused sure do. If it takes on average, say five years, there will be no point in going for that. Yes. However, do the Fused know that? Should they aim for decreasing the number of Windrunners or their progress? Very hard to say.
-
I must say Thunderclast scream Awakening to me, with a soul replacing Breath.
-
Yes No. They spent the vast majority of that time on Braize without contact to human beings (save occasionally the Heralds) A part of the actual Desolations was even before the Knights Radiant arose. Probably they have ten to twenty years of fighting Knights Radiant collectively. At the very extreme estimate a few decades more. And each individual had only a fraction of that time. The Everstorm is new. One rebirth per Desolation was the rule. Well, should there be a lot of 4th oath Windrunners? The theory is plausible, but would it be necessary at all?
-
Well, those are the rules And only becuse Kaladin makes a claim, he cannot expect to just be believed without evidence. Again, if somebody steals something from me, I am not ignored. I would seek justice. But then my problem is injustice not being ignored. Well, that makes such a discussion ultimately meaningless. If the oaths can have an arbitrary meaning, there is nothing to discuss.
-
That is a perfectly good explanation. Yet, you have two people react with the aim of having two different reactions.
-
Ignored? If the king himself throws you into jail and rants about stringing you up, you are not ignored. And Kaladin was listened to. In fact, that was his problem. Now, obviously he did not get what he demanded. But the oath is about listening, not heeding their wishes. Now, you may say that Kaladin was denied justice (and equality). But he wasn't ignored. Somebody took active steps against him. Edgedancers are not about simple justice. If you want that, take a Skybreaker. They did execute the crooked warden. Edgedancers are about those who suffer, not because they were decieved or robbed, but because they are so unimportant that nobody ever bothered about them. Nobody is out to get them. They are just not even important. Lift would feed you just because you are hungry. Adolin wouldn't. He would let you enlist. But if you inherited 10th nahn and eat only every third day because your ancestors screwed up, well, not his problem. Neither would he hold it against you. But that is not the same thing.

Kelsier should be very concerned, if somebody turned up with a silver knife. Why would it have an unknown different effect? It hurts and kills Cognitive Shadows (apparently only those without a body) Shards have an associated metal for an unknown reason. We are learning that other metals have some properties which are more logical outside the Metallic Arts than inside them. They way tin and pewter work with fabrials is more straightforward than with allomancy. Allomancy is to an extent a designed system. Yet Preservation was surely conservative designing such a system. That is the key innovation is that he chose to power allomancy, not what the metals do.
-
Well, but who would be writing? If it were The Sibling itself, why not a simple message to and through the Stormfather? The sets of entities caring about The Sibling being nice enough to send a warning able to smuggle a gem stone into Navani's capsule without communication channels working much easier lacks overlap.
-
I am afraid I must point out the inconsistency here. Renarin has been in Part 1. Why can't Venli while still belonging to another group? I would still argue that we are only formally in part 1. In terms of story we are still in the culmination of the gap year. Why would Lirin be more important for Kaladin than Hesina?
-
Before they added the gem stones, the blades could not be dismissed. Hence the question whether the ornament would stay on the blade when it was dismissed was moot. If it physically stuck to it, decoration was possible. You cannot use what can be done to a permanent blade to decide what can be done to a dismissable blade. Blades will always appear in pristine condition, even if you used it to mess around in the gunky interior of a dead chasmfiend before you dismissed it. So, well, yes you can put paint on a blade, yet when you dismiss the blade, the paint will stay behind. Gem stones are special.
-
Kaladin wasn't forgotten. Not nearly. They were discussing making his head roll. Just because he was jailed, they were not going to forget him there and let him rot. Adolin was standing by his friends. By the man whom he owed his life to. Edgedancers are Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt. You can be rich and famous and fulfill the role. But that is not Adolin. He is rather, well, Clint Eastwood.

allomantic metals around the cosmere

Well, depends on how you see this. Apparently you can sense the push/pull distinction with bronze. Chances are the rest is not completely made up either. The name probably comes from the first eight metals known during the Final Empire, where it makes sense for allomancy. -
Navani herself tells the assembled kings that information sharing about fabrial science is insufficient. By that logic the people knowing about the diagramm and not reporting them are doing nothing wrong.
-
Because they have not solved it. They have found a mode of cooperation. Yet that is not the level of cooperation that will beat Odium.
-
Well, a bit like this. Navani to the kings: Please decree that everybody share their secrets concerning fabrials. Azish delegate: We already shared our research into aluminium. What do you give up? Thaylenah delegate: What does your secretive daughter-in-law hide? It is inacceptble that the Alethi and only the Alethi can keep their secrets. Navani: Her journeys are not relevant to our common defence. Azish: How do you know? Have you read them? This is not going to work. Human beings generally react negatively if you tell them that you know better than themselves what's good for them and what they need to know.
-
And that is a train wreck waiting to happen. We already had an Iri Radiant. As general Khal put it, you will find headquarters of the Knights Radiant in every major kingdom. And suppose somebody bonds The Sibling or the Nightwatcher. Are they just supposed to swallow this idea of a king of Urithiru?
-
That is the point. It may seem to her like no longer an internal conflict of Roshar, when the Knights Radiant start enslaving creatures from another realm.

allomantic metals around the cosmere

Yet they are still bound by the laws of chemistry. Elementary calcium in their bodies would still come into contact with water. Then it would explode. And humans would have noticed if their bones were metal. Nor is there a need for that. Human Knights Radiant can interact with a gem stone without metal. And the Singers do nothing with the spren in their gem hearts. They change form upon entry and need them to keep the form, but that's it. Whatever their ancesttors used spren bonds for they lost. It is annoying that there is no equivalent of apes and monkeys for them. Provided they were not outright created. -
OK, I have changed my mind upon finishing Oathbringer and reading its Ars Arcanum. Let me quote: Pretty damning words in an academic work. Enslavement, not entrapment or capture. These words are written by Khrissalla. That explains why the writing and the wording are odd. She is about as foreign as possible.

allomantic metals around the cosmere

But the effect is feruchemical not allomantic. You overloaded the system. If you run too much Investiture through an allomancer you are also getting undesirable effects. Preservation is just a better designer. The allomancers whose power you steal surely have no channels for spikes in their brains. You are modifying the recipient beyond simple additions even if you make inquisitors. The effect is just small. But it is not just something that happens due to stealing attributes.
