  1. That's the common folk and apothecaries. Surgeons with a Karabranthian education seem to understand actual medical practices, even without apparent knowledge of bacteria.
  2. Rosharans don't use a lot of fire because the planet has more oxygen, so fire is more dangerous to use.
  3. I see this as an absolute win!
  4. It's been shown that at least one of the covert organizations has access to unknown blades. Helaran's Blade, which he got from the Skybreakers, was not in any official records, if I recall correctly. So the Skybreakers have at least a couple dead Shardblades lying around. I think that there could definitely be some in Aimia, as well, since they're all so secretive about that place.
  5. what does that mean for me?
  6. I think an important part of it is knowing exactly what Lift asked for, and what the Nightwatcher said to her.
  7. The question is, does Lift make Investiture, or does she make Stormlight? if she makes unkeyed investiture, then she could probably decide to use it to Awaken instead of Surgebind, but if she makes Honor's investiture (stormlight), then she can only surgebind. Maybe she would need to have normal Breaths first, and then she would gain the ability to make more.
  8. Well, the Skybreakers probably have a few, since they gave a dead blade and plate to Helaran. But they can't have collected every missing Shardblade. But also, Dalinar's Recreance vision was of just the Windrunners and Stonewards. And maybe not even all of them. But that leaves 6 other orders of Radiants (excluding the Skybreakers and the Bondsmiths) unaccounted for. So it's a much larger amount of missing Blades and Plate than just 120.
  9. Granted. But the only thing keeping you awake is the sound of constant screaming that drowns out everything else. I wish for a spiked cookie.
  10. Welcome to the Shard! That's the best first post I've honestly seen yet.
  11. The Coppermind says this:
  12. Well, Szeth didn't choose to commit any of his Assassin in White acts. He thought he had to do them because of the Oathstone. Shin people seem to have a very strong adherence to oaths. Szeth thought that he was doing what he had to do. And he regretted every murder he committed. His greatest wish was for someone to kill him. And once he met Kaladin and realized that he was right and the Stone Shamans were wrong, he regretted the murders more because it turned out he was responsible.
  13. @Quantus was theorizing about if you could Awaken a Deadeye in the CR to get past the metal restriction of a Shardblade.
  14. That WoB only addresses Shardblades. It doesn't address giving Breaths to a Deadeye in the Cognitive Realm.
  15. But that's just the Physical Realm. It doesn't address Deadeyes.
  16. That's smart. The Emperor's Soul is really good. It would be a good Cosmere entry point.
  17. Well, sort of. He and Preservation made a deal that if they created humanity, Ruin could destroy them at some point. So, while Odium didn't create humanity, he and the other shards did have their agreement to not interfere with each other.
  18. To make a statement. They didn't necessarily want ordinary people to use their Shardblades, but they knew that if the Windrunners and the Stonewards, which are very battle-oriented, protect-everybody-at-all-costs orders. Their betrayal would mean that everybody hates the Radiants, which did happen. But it could also have the subtle implication that disbanding the Radiants would protect everybody else, which might've been true.
  19. Breath might actually work to heal a Deadeye. According to Lifeless theory, the Breath works as an artificial soul for the body. Could Breath fit into a Deadeye's investiture and repair what the broken bond ripped off? Stormlight obviously doesn't do that.
  20. Remember, deadeyes are only mostly dead. You can't "kill" (in the traditional sense of the word) spren by breaking the bond.
  21. Even so, most transformations are more valuable than topaz. Discounting Sapphire (air), Smokestone (opaque gas), Ruby (fire), and Zircon (oil, which is worth the least), that leaves Emerald (grain), Diamond (glass, crystals), Garnet (liquids other than oil), Amethyst (metal), and Heliodor (meat) as gemstones considered more valuable than topaz. I discounted the gasses because those are used to clear obstacles and debris, so they are used to produce an effect, not an object. Transforming something to air or smoke is not sellable when you're not supposed to be able to do that. So, most likely, the Davar Soulcaster either was a single-mode Soulcaster, or it's other two modes were less profitable than topaz in the Davars' situation.
  22. It could, but it doesn't. Gumfren gemhearts make meat, which is not marble. And anyway, why would the Ghostbloods even give Lin Davar a topaz Soulcaster? topaz is one of the least valuable polestones, and polestone value is based on Soulcasting use. therefore, the Davar soulcaster scheme looses merit when considering that they could've given him an amethyst Soulcaster, for example. unless the topaz soulcaster was all they had, in which case why give it to an outsider?
  23. Therefore, the innocent vs. guilty thing is not the resonance. The Skybreaker Resonance is not known as of now. Edit: Ninja'd!
  24. What is the Skybreaker resonance?
  25. He's coming along. 65% is like, more than half!
