i'm not sure an allomancer would be in position to rip out a fabrial and eat it while being attacked, honestly. Besides, if the metal isn't as high up as possible, then the lurcher wouldn't be able to even land on deck.

sure, but are they in a good position for a Lurcher to pull themself on deck?

assuming that works, the Scadrian ship would still lose mobility and start falling each time it happens. during this time they are vulnerable to further attacks. Besides, the Radiants could also load boulders or other weights onto their own ships and just drop those onto the Scadrian ships. Ad something i realized is the Scadrians are disadvantaged in this area, since they could not form their own boarding parties as easily. they'd have to launch Crashers, because a normal Coinshot would push the weightless ship too much. And steel Allomancers moving between two moving objects could easily miss and fall away from the fight. They can also send Lurchers (who couldn't miss), but that depends on where metal can be found on a Rosharan ship. Plus, a Scadrian boarding party would not be as immediately effective as a Rosharan one, since the mere presence of a Rosharan on a Scadrian ship would destabilize it.

The main issue with this is that the Champions will not just be fighters, but people who can sway the hearts of men. This is why Dalinar and Kaladin (presumably) were favored by Odium for the Champion role. Both existed as larger-than-life figures, as the Blackthorn and as Stormblessed. Figures who command the attention and respect of those around them, including their enemies. Of course, both are also expert fighters, but they are important beyond just their skill in battle. Szeth is unknown or hated (as the Assassin in White) by most people, and Renarin is ignored and looked down on. They do not have a presence in the hearts of men the way Dalinar and Kaladin do. So any further potential Champions would probably also be figureheads in their own right.

to be fair, I feel like Roshar could be on the path to anti-light bombs. and like @Frustration said, the Scadrian ships have the major weakness of having to be near-weightless in order to fly. In a fight on the decks of airships, Surgebinders would not be courteous enough to Lash themselves weightless while fighting on a Scadrian ship

The personal lift also has to deal with only the weight of one person. It would be a stretch currently to strengthen that enough to support the weight of the airship. Besides, the Raysium could be used for force multiplication now, so the chull power could move the boat much faster.

Why? the personal lift had to be reset, but the horizontal chulls could move practically indefinitely, as long as there are fresh chulls to switch out.

I'm very aware. But I'm also aware that this basically the only reference to Autonomy and Odium ever working together, and it's definitely not enough to prove a pact.
-
the conjoined fabrial that controls the horizontal movement of the Fourth Bridge is not moved up and down, but horizontally dragged back and forth across the ground by chulls. This means that they never have to reset the paired gem, but instead reverse it. The vertical fabrial is seperate, and pulled up and down by humans.

not so much a pact, but there's this: Not really so much a pact as much as a possible involvement in the past.
-
not necessarily, i think. The Fourth Bridge is pulled along horizontally, so it might actually be faster to reset it than to use up the next gem. and besides, that airship has only one conjoined load that reverses itself instead of ever resetting.

maybe that's what this is. but it's worth considering, I think. of course, I don't think the RAFO alone is enough evidence, but I think there could eventually be a reason for why aluminum is the way it is.
-
Kaladin's glove fabrial had several weights paired to it that he could switch between when one ran out. The airship could be the same way, with the ability to switch to another weight while the ground team resets the first one.

there are potentially other improvements though. If Navani or another artifabrian can learn to create Surge fabrials like Soulcasters and Progression fabrials. If they can figure those out, Abrasion and Gravitation fabrials could be used on airships. Gravitation to lighten the load (or be an entirely new design of airship) and Abrasion to lower air resistance. Edit: Wait! Gravitation and Abrasion could be used on the conjoined gem to make that easier to move as well!

To be fair, RoW is decades before BoM. For all we know, by the time of BoM, Roshar could be equal to the Southern Scadrians in airship tech. Look at real-world flight. the Wright brothers first flew in 1903, but the airplane was used by Italy in 1911, and by many nations during WWI. Only 8 years between the first flight and combat piloting in the real world, so why not something similar on Roshar?

I personally don't think Aluminum is a god metal, but there's currently much ambiguity in that area. If it were so simple, Brandon could've said no. I mean they can Soulcast other things into aluminum, aluminum is (as far as we know) mined and created normally (no Pits of Halthsin or Shardweapon manifestation), and is also a real Earth metal. But that RAFO complicates matters.

the thing is, Moash is given "He Who Quiets" when he kills Jezrien. When he silences Jezrien permanently. as in, Quieting enemies.

You know what? maybe he's a Division Fused. Tension has not been shown to be particularly threatening, and in his interaction with El, the Defeated One was cautious with his safety. He seemed to think that El had some way of backing up his authority. Of course, this could be due to his newfound authority since the recent change in Odium, but it seems like El has been feared since before the True Desolation. I feel like El might be Division, since that's known to be a more dangerous Surge than Tension. Besides that, if we accept that El was He Who Quiets, then i feel that Division fits that better.
-
to be fair, the Magnified Ones, the Fused with Progression, they can change the shape their carapace takes, so maybe El is a Magnified One who does not grow back his carapace after implanting the metal

Could chromium kill a Fused? Permanently?
Zapata replied to Enter a username's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I guess duralumin-burn the chromium. to explain in a different manner, a Leecher could Leech the Fused gemheart, and a Nicroburst could boost the Leecher. Or a Mistborn could use chromium and duralumin at the same time. -
Combat and the physics of the Surge of Gravitation
Zapata replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
that's possible, but that would take perfect timing to accomplish. seems more likely that there's a way of using the Reverse in a way we haven't seen yet, or just arrows on ropes- 32 replies

Combat and the physics of the Surge of Gravitation
Zapata replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I thought that the Windrunner had to be touching the object they lash. maybe the homing arrows were tied to a rope so they could stay "touching" the Windrunner while moving toward the target. that is if the Reverse Lashing would actually work like that anyway. The Reverse Lashings have always been weird, they seem almost like they use some form of Spiritual Adhesion almost.- 32 replies

I see we're bringing back the Lifebinding idea! I agree with that. I thought a hypothetical Life magic wouldn't interact with the Surges at all, but that depends on whether Voidbinding does, which it actually looks like is possible. I feel like Life Surges would be more wild than the Surgebinding we've seen so far, maybe influencing the surge spren (like gravitationspren) instead of controlling the Surges themselves.
