No worries! I forgot about the spanreed issue. I guess we don't really know why they send an expedition in the first place. This event seems to kick it off, but one ship losing it's crew isn't that interesting in a worldwide war. It's also weird to send RoW spoilers:

I didn't mean to imply he is on the Wandersail. We know the Wandersail goes to Aimia, not this ship. I was speculating on why the Wandersail ends up going.

The flying Fused knows as "Heavenly Ones", Leshwi for instance, seem to prefer to duel Windrunners. I like that this gives hope to the future of the Singers and Humans respecting each other and joining together. HOWEVER ... Don't they get tired of losing after a while? Maybe change tactics, fight "dirty". If I had been killed over and over again ab aeterno I'd get tired of it. I understand they are used to dying, but it still hurts and is a setback even with the Everstorm. It's an interesting character trait this order of Fused has, compared to the wrasslin' guy Kaladin fights. That guy has the right idea, Teleport around, take hostages, use fabrials. Whatever it takes.

Yeah. On a similar note that’s why I am totally cool with no novella between 5 & 6. A lot of the fun of back 5 will be seeing how young characters like Lift and Renarin have changed then exploring the big moments in flashbacks. Im sure we’ll get their sad childhoods too, but some flashbacks will be in the 10-15 year gap.

The Wandersail could be closer to Aimia than other coalition ships. It could be commissioned via spanreed and the coalition delegates could be flown to meet up with Wandersail. Would explain why Lopen ends up on the ship. The coalition could ask around to different ports to see what ships are available. Then have their people oathgate / fly to meet up with the ship that’s well positioned and willing.

Did it drift for that whole time? The Everstorm would have caught it on open water multiple times. I don’t have a great sense of where they found it at. The crew is mostly Alethi, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are anywhere near Alethkar. If it didn’t get dashed into rocks it could have drifted on the currents and been blown around in the storms until the sails were ripped apart.

These are incredible! I've always been envious of the Chinese covers, ever since I saw the Way of Kings cover.

Dalinar came around on his view of The Almighty. If there is a god, it wasn't him.

Simplest Explanation for Fused Flight
Child of Hodor replied to Lightspine's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I agree it's probably pushing away from something as if they hate it or something to do with their Passion. Regardless they hold their light better than surgebinders and can "lash" or whatever their equivalent is less than KR. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/331/#e9412 I don't see the comment in here, but somewhere on these forums it was suggested that they hold their light better because they hold it in the Singer gemheart within the body while KR hold it in their body. Gemhearts leak investiture slower than flesh and bone. -
Jasnah interviewing the Heralds
Child of Hodor replied to Mojulesttron's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That would help. He may only need to be around a lot of stormlight or surgebinding. He breaks out of his stupor in WoR when Shallan uses Illumination in his cell. Granted he screams and starts rambling about Ishar's knights, but still better than he was before she did that. Ash is the youngest Herald, the only one who my not have been born on Ashyn. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/372/#e11945 She has the least firsthand knowledge of what led to all this because she was a wittle baby during some key events. And she's crazy like all of them, she mentions to Taln she's lost track of time. All of the Heralds have a very hazy grasp on time. Kalak isn't sure whether he'd been tortured for hundreds of years or thousands of years I the Prelude. It's at least several thousand. I guess my point is these two won't give them as much as we'd hope. Either because they'll lie or they just don't remember well. -
So that this 4,500 years in the making desolation to end all desolations lasted longer than like 3 months. The first book covers a lot of time but WoR and OB cover about 3-4 months combined with a week in between each. Books 4-5 will probably cover a few months as well. The trip to Aimia will be covered in the Dawnshard Novella.
-
That’s my guess. We know they are worldhoppers and they tried to kill Jasnah and Amaram who were both looking for Urithiru (via shattered plains). They asked Shallan to rid Urithiru of one Unmade then to attempt to recruit Sja-Anat (in the letter at the end of OB). When the Fused returned they were like “We will use this”. They seem amoral and after power.
-
Good point. Maybe this was the rare case where they couldn’t salvage any of it to regrow. I went back through OB ch 121 and most of the plate is described as exploding.

Okay, where is Restares?
Child of Hodor replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
According to the coppermind article on Restares we don’t even know Restares’ gender. Is Restares The Sibling?!? -
My problem with Kadash, like Taravangian, is that the two are not close anymore. Even when they were on good terms in WoK, Kadash wasn’t at important meetings or anything. Adolin goes to him for advice on Dalinar’s visions, that’s about it. The SoH make it sound like they have someone in the inner circle, maybe I’m misinterpreting it. But I’m thinking someone close to his wife or his kids.

What a tough string of chapters for Our Heroes. Teft, Rock and Gaz all warn Kaladin Side Carry is a bad idea. (Although Gaz then encourages it because he wants them to die) Cymantics - I think the Dawnsingers were Singers who used the Rhythms to terraform the cities Kabsal is showing Shallan. We see the Listeners can sing in rhythm across a battlefield, it is in part magical. They've long forgotten a more powerful use for their singing. Kabsal is so weird. A member of a ruthless power-hungry organization like the Ghostbloods yet he's offended at Jasnah's heresy. He also thinks he and Shallan can be a thing after he murders her teacher. A Light By Which To See - My first impressions of the Stormfather were very positive because of this chapter. He doesn't say anything, but smiles at Kaladin. It turns out it was one of those situations when you think someone is waving at you across the street, but they are waving at the person next to you. He was smiling at Syl. Kaladin will actually do this early on in Oathbringer to defend civilians from a highstorm. The Lesson - Jasnah is real good at soulcasting. I'm fine with what she did. Roshone is unforgivable. Got Moash's grandparents killed out of spite. Got Tien killed out of spite. Ch. 46 Child of Tanavast - One of my favorite chapters Brandon has written. The prose here is great, so much worldbuilding described beautifully. The despair Kaladin feels seeing so much war. The foreshadowing. Stormfather is more forthcoming with information for Kaladin than he is with the guy he's bonding. Brandon says there significance to Stormfather calling Kaladin and only Kaladin child of Tanavast. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/390/#e12688 I don't think it's biological. If Tanavast had kids it would have been thousands of years ago. Half of Alethkar could be his distant relations. Does he remind Stormfather of Tanavast? Backbreaker Powder - Note to self: never upset Jasnah.
-
My first thought when the spy was mentioned was a scribe close to Navani and Rushu is the closest. I hope it’s not Rushu. Taravangian isn’t exactly “close” to Dalinar anymore. I’m sure he is spying, but I wouldn’t smugly refer to my spy as “close” like they did if it were Taravangian or his friends.

Okay, where is Restares?
Child of Hodor replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Restares is still around somewhere. I don't take Ialai to be the top of the organization, whatever they say. Restares seems to like to lead from a distance. The Ghostbloods were concentrating on Amaram in WoR when they knew he reported to Restares. Now they are looking at Ialai. -
Moash killed her with a regular spear, no powers, no armor. If I were a Fused I’d give her so much crem.

https://wob.coppermind.net/events/331/#e9412 My interpretation of what Brandon is saying is they burn Voidlight more efficiently, but can't use as many lashings at once which is why they are slower, but can go longer. Hadn't thought of Taravangian, good call! I wonder if they are all that close anymore. Regardless, he's still in the alliance, so he gets plenty of intel that way.

I want to see the new Fused and Dalinar wrassle! Or Rock and the new Fused, they are the same height and both very strong.
-
Yeah, I read that as they have 300 total Windrunners, but only 50 have a spren. The other 250 can't all be Kaladin's squires.
