  1. 1. If political science is a pseudoscience that makes Jasnah Decision even more stupid. Why would you introduce such a political, change If you know the results of the change are going to be completely random and arbitrary? Clearly, her and Brandon are working from the assumption at least that it is not a pseudoscience. 2. I Have already addressed the example of Japan. And again it does not compare to this circumstance at all Japan had an occupying army that could support the new system. And suppress any remnant of the old system. Jasnah wouldn’t be able to do that unless she cut some sort of deal with retribution that let the fused occupy the tower. I doubt she would do that. 3. If you know of anything reverent from Jewish or Confucius history on this topic by all means, bring it up. 4. I certainly hope it’s not. I would hate for another copycat version of scadrial that would make this even more boring. It would be far more interesting if they had completely different political systems.
  2. Exactly OK, let’s go over some of the historical fallacies in this post 1. Constantine didn’t completely change the political system all that happened under Constantine was that being a Christian went from being politically problematic to being a political asset. This is a significant, but nonetheless small change. Nothing at all like Jasnah is attempting to do. 2. Constantine had to fight two civil wars in order to make this small change. 3. Actually, there wasn’t attempted rebellion and coup in the name of the emperor (everything in Japan, had to be done in the name, the emperor, even if you were sitting in yourself up in the direct opposition to his will) that attempted to stop the surrender of Japan. 4. Japan had a foreign army occupied inside it for a generation keeping the peace. The tower doesn’t have that. All the more reason they are likely to favor, preserving some form of tradition and governmental structure rather than go for something completely new that none of them have any more experience in My point was you’re acting like the revolution introduced a complete new system it didn’t. White males could vote before hand and white males could vote after.
  3. Really I didn’t realize someone disliked this book so much
  4. Exactly why you can’t force democracy from the top down.
  5. Democracy or at least modern democracy is in such a way that in theory At least problems it could avoid and complications of other systems that often resulted in violence. Interesting sentiment, but one hardly unique throughout many areas in history People have made similar arguments for there ideology or system All were eventually proven wrong with time. I like living in a democracy and appreciate the benefits and it brings me im Skeptical of the belief that it will last forever considering What happened to the Roman republic probably not the best example. Actually in the American system, originally only white males could vote voting rights slowly expanding, but it wasn’t like this immediate change after the founding of the country. We Know how this will play out there will be a smooth transition over the time skip to a more modern democracy or something similar enough, it will play out this way because it is fiction and so Brandon can make something like that work.
  6. Yes, but that’s not the type of democracy that we’re talking about.
  7. Democracy doesn’t protect from that possibility
  8. 1.A military coup is not the same as a popular revolution. And the coup was just to remove the Kizer not established a republic that came afterwards it was a decision made by the elites not the people. 2. No democracy is literally designed to be as boring as possible a good thing to because when politicians get interesting people die 3. Japan and German had a foreign military power that support them for the first generation of you want to see what happens when a foreign power leaves in such a circumstance I refer you to Afghanistan 4. I can’t speak for you by I skip all the political parts of AOL because they were boring 5. There are a lot of other types of government then democracy and dictatorship. This isn’t a binary choice 6. I strongly prefer Democracy over other forms of government in this world but to say that we have historical proof that it is superior form of government is just wrong. Our mordern democracies are only a few hundred years old far to early to make such a judgement and how would you even measure such a thing anyway?
  9. 1. No most of tower as of now is Alethi 2. While I’m sure some one in azure knows about democracy the fact that they don’t use this system seems to indicate that it isn’t widely known or popular system among them. 3. Even if Jasnah spent all off screen time yapping about democracy it would take years if not generations for the idea to spread and gather enough support to justify this kind of change 4. Edge dancers are the most religious order so I don’t there big fans of Jasnah 5. Actually a effort representing government is far more complex than other systems ?
  10. Interesting, I admit that while I appreciate syl and the other spren becoming more human I do kind of miss the old days when they were more abstract, true living ideas that could never be fully understood by humanity and could never fully understand humanity. Brandon Sanderson has been steadily making them more human, especially in this book with the storm father. I understand that and there are many good things about that but still I do understand the desire to keep them unhuman.
  11. i meant more about her character arc not what she was going to do. im not sure cultivation has left the system so I’m not sure her plans are still relevant. its a 15 year time skip so she will be 31
  12. Good point. I’m not sure where else she could take her story though she’d be too old to worry about growing up as she would be in her early 30s not just a not kid anymore, but also no longer a young woman either. I thought the radiance can only use storm light and proper light not life light
  13. 1.I see no reason why cultivation abandoning the system or change anything as far as the boons and curses go 2.During the time I suspect she will served as a scout and spy 3. She probably will have her own love interest by book 6 (gift maybe or Gavinor) 4. As for her arc and book 6 I think we’ll be about motherhood so much about her past trauma seems revolved around her mother so there has to be a way to bring that all up to the surface having her become a mother herself or face. The possibility of becoming a mother seems to be the best way to do that.
  14. 1. No, it’s not an oligarchy are ruled by the rich. This is an old-fashioned aristocracy with elements of theocracy. 2. In either case neither an oligarchy or an aristocracy our representative governments by definition. 3. The orders will be deciding on their leaders, not the people. so in either case the system will not be a democracy, except for maybe within the individual orders even in that case only in some cases. 4. Listen to the forgotten doesn’t immediately translate to Democratic representative government, especially given that this world has almost no examples of such a thing. Well it would make sense for the edge dancer become advocate for the people that doesn’t mean that they would support representative government, especially since the people themselves don’t even know what a representative government is at this point. 5. Again, you’re confusing Oligarchy (rule of the rich typically merchants or land owners) with aristocracy (rule of the best typically warrior/land owners) these two are similar, but very different things 6. Agreed it doesn’t look like retribution war be ruling Roshar directly, so this will be much more like an aristocracy at least for those who did not directly surrender and so still maintain some form of independence.
  15. We know that there are people from Skadrel in silver light two of which work for the ghost bloods. So I would assume that that is where this full feruchemy is from. Hopefully, we see more of her.
  16. No they could have ever order decide on a leader based using there on methods and then have each leader form a council that rules think a radiant form of the 9 You could form council with the leaders of each order like the radiants version of the 9 that makes much more sense than a democracy . The people already respecting the radiance so it makes more sense then instituting a democracy that no one asked for
  17. Slyadin becomes a thing adult lift will fall in love someone and will be a mother sometime in the back hafe. lift will be used as a scout and spy gavin will became a master dualist lift will help him get over his trama. Jasnah will regret forcing a democracy (she won’t but she would if this was realistic) Kaliden will perfect his cooking skills. A religion we started that believes that Kal will return from death to save them all. Gave and cord will be in a relationship Szeth we become a father If the war does start again, it would be cool to see Thaylen ships versus the great shells
  18. Plead all you want it is happening weather you like or not though at least you won’t have to worry about it until the back half
  19. I love living in a democracy but read about democracy in fiction can get boring fast. It would be much more interesting if we had multiple different forms of government across the cosmere. aditionally trying to force a democracy on a people who did not choose a democracy almost always backfires weather it be the wiemar Republic or Afghanistan Democracy can not be implemented from the top down. additionally the tower is supposed to be the base of the orders so shouldn’t the orders decide how it should be ruled? Your thoughts anyone?
  20. It mentioned that he had glowing red eyes before he started crying at the start of the contest didn’t it?
  21. What do you think Gavinor will do during the time skip. Will he join retribution? Will retributions corruption, give him access to any abilities? Will people fear him because of the red eyes? Will he stay in the tower? Will he try to become king of Alithcar? Will he fall in love? If so, with what character?
  22. My guess is that it will be 10. We still have the 10 orders of void binding chart so I’m gonna go with 10 for now
  23. i’m not so certain the main stream Sky breakers would leave retribution, after all their ideology seems to fit well within retributions intent. And currently he is the undisputed legal ruler of Roshar, or at least most of it. No, I think they will stay with him for a while Scenario 1: Retribution loses there’s a reason why he was so upset with the end of The contest of champions. He is in no position to start a war right now. Over half his fused are insane. Regals have powers. But that alone won’t overcome the advantage of modern firearms. We have seen that even without firearms, regular soldiers can fight against regals and win in the right circumstances. 2. Scenario 2. Hard to say, we don’t know what the ascension of retribution will do to the magic system. Will see retribution spren able to make bonds? Will retribution, make more fused. Will the knights radiant, be able to access the full power of the surges now that all oaths made by honor have been forsworn? Overall I think Roshar does better in this timeline. It gives retribution more time to prepare to make a new fused. Etc. scenario three same as scenario two
  24. We know that the surge binders on ashen were maybe not immortal but definitely long-lived so my guess is that it’s the same thing. becoming a fifth idea won’t make you immortal. I will give you a couple hundred year lifespan. which will be a convenient way for Brandon Sanderson, to still have some of the characters from Stormlight exist in era 4
