But I also appreciate Warhammer 40k or similar stories where the aliens are fundamentally non-human. I would recommend you Warhammer 40k or frieren, Children of time. He didn’t do it earlier because he thought he had better options. The whole point of the entire book was similar, realizing that this was the only best option.
