  1. I will be remembered [by mathematicians and over-zealous high school students].
  2. It involved a whiteboard, an thirty minute long explanation of how the books were linked (with multiple diagrams about why Shards and Vessels were different) and why each book has a powerful message. To be fair, I was on coffee at the time, and sleep deprivation does things to one's inhibition.
  3. Hm... Perhaps. I sort of want to keep the writings of Kriwetikhe/Pokilor/OtherNamesForThePlanetThatScholarWolfeIsExploring more localized, without direct interaction off-world though, so I'd prefer avoiding face-to-face meetings between the writers. I do have no issue with a combined multiverse, however.
  4. The Sibling is an Uber-Cryptic spren, and just as how the Stormfather is tied to the honor and oaths of the Radiants as a whole, the Sibling is tied to the self-honesty and acceptance by the Radiants as a whole. Assuming that the Sibling is some sort of mix between Honor and Cultivation, I think being a type of Cryptic would fit well. Pattern says that Cryptics are personifications of the underlying mathematical truths and rules that Roshar and the Cosmere are governed by. In other words, Cryptics can be considered representations of the rules (Honor) by which the world grows (Cultivation). It might also explain why the Sibling began to abandon/withdraw from Urithiru before the Recreance, as the Knight Radiants were beginning to learn the truth about humanity (that they weren't really the original members and that humans are essentially the invaders of Roshar). It is suggested that the "perceived worthiness" of the Radiants is not the cause of the Sibling's withdrawal from Urithiru, which would be true, as it isn't their sense of worth that's failing so much as a struggle among the Radiants to accept the truth, which would cause the Sibling to retreat into the Cognitive in a manner similar to how Pattern faded from the Physical due to Shallan's refusal to accept her past. The Sibling appears to have been the one in control of the many fabrials in Urithiru that allowed the tower-city to function for human habitation. Based off of the almost robotic nature and way of thinking that we see from Pattern, a Cryptic-like spren would be a great candidate for managing the various complex subroutines needed to keep the tower running. Also, it has been said in a WoB that Cryptics would really love computers, which Urithiru's fabrial system basically is.
  5. Perhaps this new Shard (possibly some form of Empathy as @KandraAllomancer suggested) had some sort of relationship or affection for Ambition's Vessel before the Shattering of Adonalsium? And after learning of Ambition's death/splintering, their Intent shifted slightly to become something closer to Anguish. -It was said in Arcanum Unbounded that Ambition was ultimately splintered outside of the Threnodite System. Perhaps she was trying to flee to where this new Shard was, where she believed they would be able to help her. However, the new Shard was unable to save her from Odium (maybe something to do with their Shard that makes it very difficult to harm others, similar to Hoid's inability to physically harm others or Preservation's general inability to destroy or damage), and she was killed as they watched. Odium then flees, as he doesn't want to get hurt by the other Shard, which is now a very real possibility considering the emotional upheaval being experienced by the Shard. Another possibility is that the original Intent was something relating to the faith that others will be good or do the right thing (like the idea that the Christain god always maintains the hope that humanity is worth saving and that they will return to him). This Intent, separated from the other Intents, is quite naive, and maintains the hope that the other Shards will do a better job, and that everyone can get along in peace and harmony. When Odium killed Devotion and Dominion, this Shard was saddened, but tried to believe that Odium hadn't done it for malicious reasons, and that it was to enforce the pact that the Shards had made in the past. However, once Odium killed Ambition, despite her not breaking the pact, the Shard could no longer tell itself that this hope was true. This caused the Vessel to lose hope (similar to how Sazed begins to despair as he goes through the religions he studied and finds flaws in each one), and slowly shifted their Intent to something along the lines of Anguish.
  6. This. This is beautiful. It's as if the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had a baby (novelette?) with the Ars Arcanum.
  7. Mistborn Book 1, Kelsier trying to rally the Skaa to no effect in the beginning, sung by the Skaa at the end as they riot after Kelsier's death and "resurrection". -Immortal by Aviators
  8. Having completed the first of many journeys, I returned to the city of Acket in order to organize and share my research. Though many of the readers of this document will already be familiar with Acketian society, I believed it to be appropriate that I should devote a short section to the City of Pages. Acket is, for all intents and purposes, a place of learning. In fact, the current name, "Acket", is derived from the Old Irilian (See Section 2.3 for an overview of the former Irilian empire) verb "Akhe" (which is the same word that names the Acketian system of magic), which means "to transfer understanding to another". However, Acket appears to have existed long before the rise of the Irilian empire, and may possibly be one of the oldest continuous societies still active today. Many ancient tablets from the mountain-libraries of the neighboring nation of Oes (one of the oldest and largest stores of archeological artifacts that have been in use since the advent of modern civilization) contain the phrase "Eip Osskieipreni ea Eipen meo pahren meo Osskipi", which has been translated to mean "Written for the catalogues of Osski (The historical name for Oes) by the Scholars of the place that is not of Osski". By analyzing the magical residue within the clay tablets, the location of the "place that is not of Osski" has been traced to the land upon which Acket now stands. Assuming the magic was the same in the past as it is now, this makes perfect sense. Acketian magic (Akhe) is relatively weak, but it has a very wide area of effect and is easily accessible to anyone. Any person who spends at least a full year in Acket gains the capacity to use Akhe, and I, as an Acketian scholar, am also practitioner of Akhe. Akhe has to do with the sharing of information, and manifests through the act of communication. This communication does not have to be auditory in nature - any act meant to convey specific and discrete information with intent will activate Akhe, and I have found that it even works with miming (see Section 5.7 for an overview of my visit to the silent village of Riswe). In modern times, Akhe has been used by many authors and scholars in order to better convey their stories and research to others, which is one of the reasons why Akhet has historically been a center of information exchange. When engaging in an act of communication, Akhe will essentially allow for clearer transfer of information to the receiver. For example, I regularly use Akhe during my travels to speak with locals that do not speak Irilian. Akhe translates the intended meaning behind my words, which it then transfers to the person I am speaking to. My instructor, Scholar Triewin, described Akhe as a magic that forms a temporary connection between souls and minds, allowing information to travel directly into another's mind without the corruption or incorrect connotation that language imparts. Consider the name of the planet in different languages, for example. To the land-bound Entrausrnam people, they would use the word "Polikor", which means "all land". However, the seafaring people of Igta call the planet "Kriwetikhe", which means "Where the oceans are". Though these both refer to our planet, the concept is slightly different. The Igtaean idiom "Kriwe bokripe shae", which literally translates to "One that does not feel the water" but figuratively refers to a person who does not understand the world around them, would not translate properly into Entrausrnamean, as the idiom is dependent on the listener linking the concept of water to the planet. Akhe would allow an Igtaean to say "Kriwe bokripe shae" to an Entrausrnamean, and the Entrausrnamean would understand that the phrase is referring to a person who does not understand or register anything at all, even if Entrausrnamean culture does not connect the idea of water to that of the entire world. Hopefully this has been understandable, as I was too exhausted from my travels to properly utilize Akhe while writing this specific entry. If not, please do not hesitate to contact the University. They will leave a note for me for whenever I get back from whatever journey I am taking at the moment. Until then, wish me luck for my next set of travels. ----- End of Scholar Wolfe's 7th Journal of Exploration. Sweeping the floor.
  9. Gardening. I've basically become a Wyndle at this point. I like it, though there was a couple of issues with birds flying over the fence and eating the seeds, so I set up a roof-thing made out of net to dissuade the birds from trying to get in. Then there were issues with having to stoop down whenever I entered the garden, so I took an old piece of steel gutter and hooked the net onto it so the garden looks like one of those circus tents, but with bright orange nets instead of multicolored tarp. Then there was the issue of deer trying to get in, so I threaded a solar powered string of blinking white Christmas lights into the net, which scares the deer away at night. At this rate, the garden will probably turn into a green house by the end of summer.
  10. Awaken a mirror to shatter when a specific person tries to look into it. Sure, it's a waste of Breath, but it makes for a great prank.
  11. Two cute ones, possibly unrelated to one another. Turned upside down, I saw the stars. You turned my world upside down. The walls I’d built fell apart when I met you. I do regret meeting you a little. But given another chance, I wouldn’t change a thing. Because if you had never entered my life, I’d have never learned how beautiful the stars could be. When I couldn’t, you took the first step. I saw you standing there, but I didn’t do anything. My heart pounded, but I didn’t let it show. I wanted nothing more than to tell you I liked you, but I remained silent. I expected you to walk away, but you reached out your hand and told me “hello”.
  12. What if we compromise. You could be a gear-shaft. That's halfway between being Gears and being Stick.
  13. You will be a stick! Look, I have Stormlight. Don't you want this Stormlight? There's lots of stuff a gear can do with Stormlight.
  14. You are a stick. You are a stick. You are a stick.
  15. Fortunately for me, I decided to get rid of that thing years ago. Every time you breathe out, some of that breath will one day be eaten in the form of a plant by another person.
