    The first wouldn't just be DA. It would be creation story stuff, with the settling of the Alleycity. But yes, second is my preference, as I said.

    I personally will be RPing a character that will give Ark a well explained backstory. They will be DA. As I see it, there's three places to reasonably start. The time when the Alleyverse is just being created so Voidus can get all the DA people together. Some time during Era 0, when there's the original light alley, back when the Newcago Court was big. Or right before TUBA and GBs and that stuff was created. I personally would prefer the second, though the first comes close. Era 1 was too recent.
