  1. So I've been doing some heavy thinking about my theory about Kiin in the Way of Kings and how Passion has a capital letter. At LTUE, Rubix and firstrainbowrose and I were doing some general discussions on things in the books and talking about deeper subjects. We started to talk about the Kiin theory when a casual comment popped up by me, "What if it's capitalized because it's the name of another Shard found on Roshar." So my theory is and is loosely supported by them that Passion is another Shard. I don't have the exact quotes and pages on me now that I'm at work but I'll do my best to back up the theory. Brandon did say that there are multiple magic systems on Roshar, I believe and correct me if I'm wrong he said it was 15. If it is 15 and we follow the standard that all the shards fuel 3 magic types that would mean there are 5 shards on Roshar. We know about Cultivation, Odium and the Almight, which would mean by my math 2 left. Passion I believe is one. Cultivation when it refers to her is in caps, same as the Almighty. I think that is what is my major defense of the theory but the other one is that through out the book they talk about things like the "thrill" and other such emotional drawings. When Vin took preservations shard she felt compelled to a certain extent to save people. /discuss
  2. I finished reading The Unremembered by Peter Orullian. I loved it as a book. There are books in the fantasy genre that are so great they make you want to stand up at the end and offer the author a round of applause. I for one can say I had to do such a thing at 2 am, to the surprise of my wife. This book has everything a reader can want in a book from extreme high emotion filled chapters to amazing action sequences. Decisions for the characters actions hold real consequences, rarely have I seen it that well done. Please don't let the back blurb put you off. It does the book no justice. Read what Peter has had to write concerning his own blurb on Peter's Blog I was fortunate to get to read the entire book as an advanced reader copy. I couldn't put it down, I had to read the book as fast as I could. I would highly recommend this book to everyone that enjoys an amazing read. I'll post a much more in depth review once it's actually out to discuss more of the book.
  3. Um if you want to meet up I'm sure we could find a place and say I'll be at this location. Just don't tell me what you will be wearing... That might creep me out a bit as if this was a blind date.
  4. Glad your's got accepted! Mine finally got there to be rejected by them because of the PIN being wrong. They somehow managed to drop a number...So had to resend them this morning.
  5. Yeah I'll see what I can do. Maybe I could try to record it using my netbooks webcam or record the voices at least.

  7. I've been trying to figure out the same thing. What was the cause of the effect or has there always been this many people experiencing changes like this on Roshar? I lean more towards there was some significant cause to have the events. I'm assuming it's something to do with one of the Shards for this world.
  8. "Ryan has no profile comments yet. Why not say hello?"

    Hello

  9. Although it has not been specifically it's way to premature to completly discount someone elses thoughts or theories. You could simply disagree with him but telling someone to not say something their way isn't too cool man. Speculation at this point is more what we have than hardened facts.
  10. I would like to announce that my ARC of The Unremembered by Peter Orullian will be here Friday! Can I say pumped up to read it! Perfect time to get it though, on the weekend with lots of reading time.
  11. Aether has not really been cannibalized so far. There is one concept that is similar but not close enough to be considered cannibalized. When we last spoke to Brandon about Aether, Peter and he were trying to decide if Aether would be cosmere cannon or not. He said he had selected to make it a cosmere book (which in all reality it should be) but he may change that in the future.
  12. So a new author that I'm really enjoying so far is Peter Orullian. He is putting some short stories that tell about the world up on tor.com for free to read. I think they are very well written and are well worth your time to read. Please check him out and share what you find with others. His full length novel The Vault of Heaven comes out April 12th. I'm so excited for the full novel. The first short story: http://www.tor.com/stories/2010/11/sacrifice-of-the-first-sheason Second one: http://www.tor.com/stories/2011/02/the-great-defense-of-layosah He did some interviews with Brandon about TWoK when it was released.
  13. so just an observation that may have been brought up already. Seems that the nature of shards are all reliant/based on a single emotion that are pieces of what we feel.
  14. I have to work thursday and friday but would be game to go on saturday if some people want to get together.
  15. Just to let you know that The Way of Kings is now a finalist for the Whitney Awards. 8)
  16. I think I finally broke the wall on the missing piece to my plot and outline for my book Ashes of Creation. Now, I need to redo alot of my outline to re-incorporate the new plot fixes. Argh! But at least it will make it flow better, plus kinda needed to redo the outline to include a chapter by chapter breakdown.
  17. congrats man.
  18. Fairly good series no matter all the Goodkind bashing. Very long story that seems to keep having the same thing over and over throughout the entire book. Kinda pissed now that he's writing 3 more books for it even though he said he was done.I've been reading lately: David Farland Brotherhood of the Wolf Joseph Cambell Hero with a Thousand Faces and re-reading as needed various chapters out of the Cosmere stuff.
  19. hmmm... You bring up a very good point on that he maybe more attuned to his shard at that point assuming that they are splinters. There is another magic system (i'm not saying what book in order to avoid spoilers for future books) where one must essentially damage their connection to the magic system effectively killing themselves in order to make their magic stronger. Maybe that is the key to mastering his wind running abilities is to push himself harder until he couldn't give anymore and once he did that the shard recognized the need and gave him more.
  20. I agree seperate topics make it easier for us to check for in correct facts or anything. If you have questions just make a new topic and we can discuss it.
  21. LOL only one's I've been reading lately I can't post on the wiki...
  22. I've played one time and always wanted to play again. Problem is my brother in law is the DM and lives out of state thus making game play next to impossible. Seems hard to find groups that allow N00bs.
  23. Check out the new cover for the Elantris. http://bit.ly/fllUO6 I'm not to found of the styling personally. Discuss:
