Oh yeah? Which system? Some friends and I started a new Pathfinder campaign, which we're all pretty stoked about. I've actually been thinking about DMing again at some point in the future, although I don't know when I would find the time for it.

I would like to announce that Chaos is very tired.

Hi! Welcome to the site! Here are your complimentary cookies and bathroom key. We don't know what bathroom it opens, though. A word of warning - watch out for cookie thieves. They lurk hereabouts....
-
*blinks* I go away for a few weeks, and look what happens. Eerongal, which cookie did he take? Was it the poisoned one?

Dude, really? What about a wavepool that mimics a Highstorm? A ride shaped like a giant glass dragon? Puppet shows with puppets that look like Awakened objects? Face-painting to make you look like an Elantrian? And that's just off the top of my head!

shattered lens chapter titles
Shivertongue replied to luminos's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Actually, the title of the song is "867-5309/Jenny". And a lot area codes don't allow anyone to have that number anymore, due to a fad when the song came out of people calling that number and asking for Jenny. I guess now the number is in-use again, and you can buy it on eBay for various area codes, so anyone who has that number knows what they're getting into when they take it. -
I would like to announce that I have started my own blog. Stop by for a visit, I guess, and read about whatever random topics I feel like posting about. Expect book reviews, stuff about art, stuff about writing, making fun of Eric, dinosaurs, robots, cookies... *cough* Yeah, anyway, stop on by.

That, my friend, is awesome. Want.

While I'm certainly not an authoritative source of information on Things Brandon, I don't recall that. Just a mention of a bendalloy misting. You may be thinking of the 20th-century-tech-level second trilogy, which is still years away. This book strikes me as a relatively-unplanned momentary diversion that ballooned to book length by accident. I wish my diversions could accidentally turn into books...

Open call for questions to brandon from tor!
Shivertongue replied to Eerongal's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Since everyone else's questions are ones that have boring answers or are bound to be RAFO'd... Is there an Aon for "waffle"? How does the name "Aonamonapeia" sound to you? Does using Seon's to communicate long-distance come with surcharges or hidden fees? Are there any monkeys on Scadrial? Do they have waffles in the Final Empire? How about pie? Does T'Telir get a lot of tourists? Will the sequel to Warbreaker be called "Warbuyer? Will it involve Vasher having to buy the war because he broke it in the last book, and didn't realize T'Telir had a "Pottery Barn rule"? What would Peter's Smedry Talent be? Does Alcatraz like waffles? How outdated are the encyclopedias Alcatraz will eventually be tied to, and does the sacrifice to the dark powers by a cult of evil librarians increase in power the longer the encyclopedias have been out of date? Are the pools in The Stromlight Archive gonna have bubble jets and scented oils? If Jasnah was a rapper, would she go by Jas-Nasty? Should Szeth-son-son-Something sire a son on a Sunday sometime soon so Szeth's son severs 'n sunders sundaes? -
Open call for questions to brandon from tor!
Shivertongue replied to Eerongal's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is what we call a perfect question. Political intrigue, bribery, bakery confections, cheese (implied with any interactions with wisconsin). Actually, during the Way of Kings tour, some friend and I went to the Chicago signing and brought him cheese curds to represent the superior state of Wisconsin. So he has had Wisconsin cheese, and it's only a matter of time before the craving begins to set in... -
Open call for questions to brandon from tor!
Shivertongue replied to Eerongal's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is what I plan to ask. "Brandon, if I promise to bring you cake, will you push to make Madison, Wisconsin a stop on the next tour you have? How about if I offer cake for every tour?" I think it'll work. Everyone loves cake. -
"The philosophers assure me that this is the time, that the signs have been met. But I still wonder if they have the wrong man. So many people depend on me. They say I will hold the future of the entire world on my arms." (Emphasis mine) That line stuck out at me immediately, and stuck out more and more as I read more of the epigraphs. The epigraph writer, Alendi, referred to the prophecies several times, and I connected that line with the prophecies in my mind. ON his arms, not IN his arms, as you would expect. The wording itself. Prophecies that specific are that specific for a reason. Then we're introduced to Sazed, who uses Feruchemy. Once that was explained, and it was explained what a Keeper does, and that the metal he stores attributes in are on his arms, it just clicked into place for me. Sazed was/is the Hero of Ages. I spent the next two books hoping I was wrong. As for Elend and Vin dying... I've read a lot of fantasy. A lot. The main hero dying by the end of the series is something I'm used to. Once I realized that Sazed was the HoA in Final Empire, I began to suspect that Vin was going to die by the end of the third book. I became more an more convinced as I kept reading. Why? Because I liked Vin. And nine times out of ten, my favourite characters end up dead. In other words, through Extreme Genre Savvy. Yes. Bow before me, your Fantasy Genre God! Agreed, and done. BOW BEFORE MY MODLINESS!

I'd have to choose Final Empire for the reasons stated above - not because I disliked the climax of Well of Ascension or Hero of Ages, but because I saw both of those coming from the first book. Final Empire had the best climax, the most surprising ending, and the most fascinating plot of the entire trilogy. I saw the ending of Hero of Ages coming from the moment Sazed appeared on-screen in Final Empire, and predicted the end of Well of Ascension halfway through the book. It still worked for me, and I enjoyed both, but Final Empire was the only one to really surprise me.

For those of you who are into A Song of Ice and Fire
Shivertongue replied to leinton's topic in General Discussion
Meh. While I enjoy most of ASoIaF (and you do not want to get me started on what I do not enjoy about it, as that is an entirely separate rant) I'd be happier if this was the trailer for A Dance of Dragons, and not a reminder that George RR Martin has been occupying himself with other things. I'll watch the show, but I'd be even happier to see A Dance of Dragons in the bookstore next year. -

No, I celebrated Talk Like A Pirate Day. Oh, you mean the Ookla thing... -
Welcome! Good to see more familiar faces drifting in ^^ As for TWG... I have no idea. I went there one day, and it wasn't working. It wasn't working a week later either. I haven't followed up on what might have happened though. I'm sure someone knows, but it ain't me.

Who's Doing NaNoWriMo This Year?
Shivertongue replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, same here. Well, more like 12,000 words behind. I'm gonna try and close that gap a little tonight, and then there's a write-in on Tuesday which I think should close it a little more. Wednesday, however, I have the entire day off from school and work, and I'm gonna spend the whole day writing. Gonna wake up at, like, 4 or 5 am and write til midnight.. At least, that's the plan. -
I remember Peter saying once, and I could be wrong, that they'd give ARCs specifically to people who wouldn't be able to get the book due to going on a mission. Don't quote me on that, though.
