I can totally relate to both, Shallan's and Kaladin's reasoning. Shallan does say "He knows me", but means that Adolin recognizes the true Shallan - something she herself sometimes struggles to do as other personas bleed in. Radiant and Veil might be part of who Shallan is and she may need to integrate them to become whole again. But right now, Shallan becomes a person different from her true self when being Veil. And Veil "fawning over Kaladin Stormblessed" is definitely not Shallan falling in love. From Kaladin's viewpoint.. He seems surprised when he says Shortly afterwards he realized, he doesn't love her. I can totally get it. Yes, he's into her, maybe even infatuated. But not in love. Sometimes it's hard to see the difference. Especially if the other person (in this case Veil) has an eye on you too. I've lived through this moment so many times before. I think that Kaladin, even though he doesn't understand Shallan's split personality, knows that she is not the right person for him. And him saying he likes Shallan and Adolin, but not both as a couple? It's a bit jealousy and maybe a bit their lovey dovey behavior. I even disliked myself sometimes during the phase when I got to know my current boyfriend and I am happy to be over that. You know.. Those new couples that behave like teens always being over one another, floating three feet above the ground. It's embarrassing, really (and also cute, and feeling good and warm, and putting a smile on your face that makes your face muscles sore, because you JUST CAN'T STOP smiling). I think Kaladin will start to like those two together after he learns to know them as a couple.

Ahh... . Point taken!! And thanks for the other WoB. I was looking for that, but I'm still struggling with finding adequate WoBs quickly ^^ PS: Elhokar's Blade is quite intriguing as well...
-
I also think that Bondsmiths get Plate. This WoB would support it: But do we know for sure that other Bondsmithspren than the Stormfather would not appear as a Shardblade?

Agreed! Oathbringer has a very high wordcount as it is. And still, I feel that some storylines were a bit rushed. The Shallan-Adolin conclusion is only one example and I guess I'm fine with it as I'm not very interested in romances within the book. But we don't see much of the battle's aftermath. For me, Szeth is - for instance - accepted much too easily. And even before the avalanche starts, I feel I miss some insights on various characters or situations (e.g. Amaram comes to my mind). Still, I won't complain. Even if I want every secondary character's story in-depth, Roshar is too huge that this wish can be fulfilled. And I'm looking forward - as all of you do - to book 4 in order to get more of some by now unresolved storylines (e.g. the Sadeas-murder, what's up with Shallan's brothers?, how will the coalition deal with the situation?, where is Rlain?, and to come back to the topic: Will we meet Tarah?...)

I also like Kaladin and Shallan as friends and fully agree with @Winds Alight concerning OB's closure of the triangle. Also, I like that Shallan can be witty with Kaladin similar as she was with her brothers. And she is able to smile even in times Kaladin is just not able to smile similar as Tien was able to smile (though I believe and hope that Tien's smiles were more honest (on a side note: I'm really sad to not get to know Tien better).

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I like @ND103s theory, so I'm gonna answer right here. If someone knows a better thread to discuss this (or of it has been discussed before), I am happy to get pointers in the right direction. Hoid's Cryptic being corrupted would indeed be interesting. Would Hold get access to a bit of Odium's Investiture (I still don't understand Voidbinding)? Moreover, why would the Fused be so interested in finding a single Cryptic? However, the Cryptic seems to look normal: And the Cryptic seems to be really afraid. What could the Fused do to him in the PR? Or might he be afraid that Sja-Anat's play will be uncovered?

I really hope that Sebarial and Palona are "just" Sebarial and Palona. I know.. There is always another secret. But I think not every well-developed secondary character needs a surprising reveal. Also, I don't think Shallan was drugged. I don't read much into this scene. If I was Palona, I would be curious too. And Shallan fought sleep for quite a while. She was more than exhausted. I guess we all know how trying to stay awake despite exhaustion feels (even without having fought an Unmade) - drooping eyelids and yawning is just natural. Still, theorizing about those two being Ghostblood leaders is fun. So I loved reading your analysis @hoiditthroughthegrapevine

[OB] I need emotional support (spoilers)

Yes. Brandon Sanderson confirmed that Renarin is on the spectrum. I love this scene in chapter 120 btw.: Zahel is Vasher. And I agree with all the other things you wrote as well. Thanks again for sharing this roller-coaster ride -

You're in for a ride. Somehow I enjoy reading your thoughts while your read Oathbringer very much. It almost feels like reading it for the first time again . -

Can you translate it back to English? Or describe, why it's better? Btw.. If Highprince is translated to Großprinz ("big prince") in German, I don't think that it sounds too silly. It would be similar to a Großherzog (Grand Duke) and thus be quite fitting on a German context... -

I kinda like Szeth (at least after reading Oathbringer, before I mostly pitied him). And who doesn't love sword-nimi ? Mr. T's story is so, so intriguing (Cultivation, you schemer!). And Moash the poor guy? No wait. I agree. Please, somebody kill him already after his betrayal of Kaladin in WoR! Or better: Send him to Braize for a nice couple of thousand years long torture. But I still like his POVs for getting glimpses into the Singers' life. I actually hate the Fused much more than I hate Moash. -

Salvation does not come right in the next chapter. You still have way to go in Oathbringer (lucky you - I wished I hadn't finished reading yet). So if you continue your "usual day life-reading-routine", you will be fine. Jumping into the next chapter won't help immediately anyways. So keep on living (working, eating, etc.). Live before death. Strenght before weakness. Journey before destination. -

I also cried when reading this scene. And I hardly ever cry. I am usually an emotional iceblock. But goodness, I was not able to read on right away. I needed to get over Elhokar's death - a character that I did not like initially, but who grew on me during Oathbringer (to damnation with you Brandon Sanderson). And Kaladin.. This scene was just so heartbreaking.. As I said.. I am not a very emotional person and a very bad empath. I can't really give you advise on how to move on. But I would strongly suggest reading on. The ending of Oathbringer is worth the sorrow (thank you Brandon Sanderson)! I was crying then as well, but with Gloryspren and Happyspren (if there is such a thing) popping up over my head. -
For me this WoB says that Mourn's Vault is an unpleasant area. It's a settlement on the border of Alethkar and Herdaz - we know this area has experienced heavy fighting. Thus, it might have been a good idea for Tarah to flee from this "not a pleasant place" to a more secure place (like Urithiru?). My question would be: How did she get there? Did she went to the warcamps on the shattered plains and then oathgated from Narak to Urithiru?
-
Do we have WoB on that? I didn't find anything. Members of the Sons of Honor seem to fall easily for Odium. Wasn't Queen Aesudan also somehow involved with them? However, Amaram's turn was somehow disappointing for me. I seem to have missed all foreshadowing that he is in line with Odium. Sadeas' troops I could understand. They were angry. Fell under the influence of the Thrill. But Amaram? With all his knowledge (thinking back to the Shallan-infiltrarion scenes in WoR, his "capture" of Taln, etc.)? I am somehow missing a piece on that one... Thus, I somehow understand where the OPs arguments came from - even though I don't agree with the initial assumption that Gavilar was in league with Odium all along.
-
I don't think that Gavilar and the Sons of Honor were in league with Odium. They wanted to restore the Power of the Vorhin church, bring back the Heralds. Maybe influenced by Gavilar's visions. I think Gavilar and Dalinar hat similar goals (unite them!) but very different strategies and tactics. Dalinar received the first vision a couple of months before we experienced the visions first hand in his POV in WoK. Long after he visited the Nightwatcher/Cultivation. However, it seems he had curious "dreams" during Highstorms before that: Though this scene was right before he went into the Nightwatcher's valley. I still can't explain, what exactly he experienced there. It sounds like a vision. But there is no further evidence that he experienced visions at this time or any time between his visit to the Nightwatcher and his story in WoK. Thus, the timeline doesn't really fit your theory that Cultivation pointed the Almighty (do you mean the Stormfather?) towards Dalinar right after she gave him her pruning.

Quickly tell me: What eye color has Elhokar?
equinox replied to NoiseSpren's topic in Stormlight Archive
In general, I would agree. But in this special case, I don't understand why the Coppermind describes Elhokar's eyes as light yellow. You have to read the footnote to find out about the change and green seems to be canon by now. -

According to the Coppermind wiki Elhokars eyes are light yellow as described in WoK. But they were changed later on to green in order to resemble Gavilar's eyes. There is also a Word of Peter (?) that explains the change: -
Is it possible the other way round? I guess it is not possible for a Spren like Syl or Pattern to bond with two or more humans. Who would get the Shardblade anyway? But might it be possible for the Stormfather? He is quite powerful as Spren go...
-
Because it's not a single Spren, but multiple Spren bonded together? But I shouldn't argue with you here, but rather finish reading the thread you posted above (which I didn't start reading before posting in this thread) ...
-
Another question would be, if Plate is made of Stormlight, why didn't it just puff away into Stormlight again as the Radiants abandoned their oaths? Instead it became somehow "trapped" in the PR just like the DeadBlades did.
