Sorry! I suppose I should read a little more closely. I thought you said only one action total in your initial post.

From how I read the rules, several orders can go through in one night, with a restricted number on each one (1 kill, 2 roleblock, 3 protect). So it would be good for at least a few villagers to send in each kind of order, with the hope that it will help village and block elims from gaining the advantage.

Not exactly. It would be a risk (and probably unlikely), but if it worked out right then the pewtermind could be full to four charges in two cycles rather than four cycles. They just wouldn't fill at all during the day.

While I agree that's probably a good option, I also feel like that could be very bad in the case elims have say, a pewtermind. It would give them better chance at double-filling their strength, giving them more lives. In general, I think we should be cautious, yet determined when it comes to the night actions. Enough of village should put in actions (balanced hopefully) in an attempt to keep the eliminators from controlling them.

Era scowled at nearly everyone she passed as she made her way to the Synod meeting place. The talk of spiked made her grumpy and turned her gut sour. She was too old for this... subterfuge. She looked at the young Irion talking with the new one... Tarin, was it? She gave them a particularly nasty look. She didn't trust anyone too happy or too new. The one peddling rugs near the.. steel squid? Where had that come from? Era grumbled about young folks and their odd art choices. Anyway, the one peddling rugs caught her eye. The rugs seemed decent quality, at least for the supposed Final Empire. Rugs in her day we're much better, softer, than anything she could find now. Curse the Lord Ruler.

Era sat up, her bones creaking their protest. More joints cracked as she stood and attempted to stretch. Her whole body protested moving, like it knew she had lived past what was expected. She walked - no, hobbled - across the room to open the curtains. It was still dawn, and the mist was just beginning to burn away. Era missed the world before mist and ash. Before the tyranny of the Lord Ruler. The era when Terris was free and beautiful. Maybe she should just let herself die so she could be at peace. Surely death would be better than this new era of suppression and depression. But it was not yet time for this Era to pass. She had lived this long because of her fighting spirit, despite her body’s limitations. She would keep fighting until someone forced her into her grave or until her people were free once more.

.... There was a previous one of these? I chose the name because it's the last three letters of Elandera. Guess I have some reading to do

I'll join as well, this time as Era. Fifth, I'll do my best to RP whatever personality you can come up with for it! Edit: Also, I love the reference in the intro!

Good game! Xino, Snipe, what prompted you guys to kill me when you did? I want to thank you for that, actually, because I otherwise would have gone inactive. I went camping in a spot I thought would have reception, but I don't. Congrats to the elims, and good try CadCom and Walin. It was really unfortunate we both died the night we finally found the handmaiden.
-
We're down to 8 players, and we've only killed one elim. It's quite likely there are at least two Mordor members left, and at least two Gondor Spies. I agree with Walin, the poison has been most problematic for the companions.
-
With those votes, it's now Rath (6), Walin (3). I'll be leaving my vote, as now we have a confirmed lynch as long as no one else switches. While I'm not sure how much I trust Walin, the claim is worth confirming. If Rath flips elim, it'll be the first real edge we've had all game.
-
Current vote count: Walin (4) - Rathmaskal, Itiah, Bort, Xinoehp Rathmaskal (4) - Elandera, CadCom, GreenRover, Walin Once again, we find ourselves at a tie. If no one else places a vote, I will be switching my vote from Rath and onto Walin to help ensure a lynch.
-
Walin's claim is that Dalinar scanned someone who is now dead (so it has to be a companion, but unhelpful in giving us a corroborated story), and Rath. Dalinar could not have scanned Walin if Walin is telling the truth. This puts the vote at a tie. We have a day to figure out which of the two we want to lynch, and we need to make sure they have at least a two vote lead.
-
Psst... We still have 24 hours...
-
Vote count: Walin (4) - Rathmaskal, Itiah, Bort, Xino Rathmaskal (2) - Elandera, CadCom
-
My issue with this is Dalinar wouldn't have had the time to scan and clear Walin if Walin is telling the whole truth. He said one person Dalinar scanned was dead, and the other was Rath. That accounts for N1 and N2. He wouldn't have had the time to learn about a scan N3 and also pass on that information. As I said before, Walin's claim is too convenient. However, I think I may have figured out the logic behind Dalinar's vague mention of the rules. What if he wanted to draw our attention to them? Say he had scanned Rath, but didn't want to openly claim. So instead, he gets people looking at the rules where they're likely to read about Gandalf having a scan. It's possible he trusted Walin with the information because Rath has been tunneling. I'm not going to take that as a 100 percent clear on Walin if Rath flips elim (simply because the last time I cleared someone because an elim started a lynch against them, the person was an elim) but I will step back. At this point, however, I want to make clear I don't particularly care which of the two we lynch. As things stand now, I see reason enough to lynch both of them. I will place my vote on whoever is in the lead at the end of cycle, just to get any lynch going.
-
Poison wouldn't be a bad idea, but try to be certain it's not a companion who's getting poisoned. We really can't afford to lose an more of us. There are 11 people remaining alive. At least two of those are Mordor faction (my guess is up to 4 because of the Gondor win-con) At least two of those are Gondor (because of their win-con). That leaves us between 7 and 5 (or fewer, if there are more Gondor Spies) companions left. If we mislynch today, and we have at least one elim kill, a likely inactivity kill (unless there's a pinch hitter), and a probable poisoning, we could be done for if none of those hit a Mordor or Gondor player.
-
Can anyone else corroborate this? I find it a bit odd that Dalinar would claim to someone under so much suspicion, despite having apparently scanned someone who had voted on him. (That's too easily a distancing tactic when you can control the lynch anyways.) Also, if he'd scanned Rath last cycle, why wouldn't he have put a little more weight behind his vote with some reasoning? He said vaguely it had to do with reading the rules that he removed his vote from you and placed it back on Rath, but provided no more information. I'm not discounting it entirely, but it's just... too convenient. Perhaps I'm willing to lynch Rath, just to get a lynch. I'd just want a bit more evidence than the word of someone I find most suspicious right now. EDIT: Storm it.Walin, Rathmaskal. I'm really concerned now I'm trusting the wrong person. @Rathmaskal, how would you respond to the scan?
-
We need to lynch someone today. Mordor is one person away from meeting their win-con. It will be really unfortunate if they win before the village can get a lynch of any kind through. Of course, it would be best if who we kill is an elim. That's why I'm placing my vote on Walin once again. He's avoided lynch three times now, two of those with the help of the Hand of Sauron. Admittedly, both times the Hand has intervened, there have been last-minute votes that made it result in a tie rather than a lynch. It is possible they were protecting Walin because it was convenient and they simply wanted someone to die, but Occam's Razor says the simplest answer is the right one. And the simplest answer is Walin was protected because he's an elim.
-
If it's true, and he's only a regular companion, then it actually doesn't slow their win-con. Mordor needs to kill the three Companion roles: Legolas (dead), Gandalf, and Arwen's hand maiden. Keeping a lynch from happening is slowing down the Gondor Spies win-con. They need to outnumber both other factions. While I'm still more than willing to move forward with a Walin lynch (for Occam's Razor reasons), it's possible the Hand is okay with keeping a lynch from happening because it slows the Gondor goal. But two times protecting the same person is too much to be coincidence.

One of the things I've seen most often with people starting out is they want the first draft of the first book to be perfect. It won't be. Let it be terrible. You can edit it later. Don't get caught up in editing the first chapter to death, or you'll miss out on writing the rest of the story. If you get stuck, it's okay to step away from it for a while. Don't let yourself put it away forever, but sometimes, you'll need a week or two to reset your mind and find a direction again. And one of the best things that can help is finding a trusted group of friends that read a lot or write themselves to help along the way. My friend and I started a writing club where we'd write short stories around a certain theme, then read and critique them for each other. It helped my writing improve by leaps and bounds.
-
As far as the rules read, yes, the only kill is the Mordor Assassin role. However, there are several poison mechanics that will result in deaths. Those had the chance of going to any player.
-
Seriously. We need to lynch someone at least. No more close votes, because right now the Hand of Sauron is controlling who gets killed.
-
As for now, Walin is my best lead for a possible eliminator. No matter the motivation behind the Hand of Sauron stepping in, they still did.

Mid-Range Game 30/Anonymous Game 2: - Scadrian Black Ops
Elandera replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That was such a fun game! A huge thanks to Fifth for all the amazing write-ups, and also to Seonid for coming up with great (and definitely troll-worthy) mechanics. Congrats to the EBI! You guys did some good planning to help the village win in the end. And I tip my hat off to you Bort. You did a great job staying hidden as Kandra, and deflecting a lynch. I knew I should have kept my vote on you that one cycle, but I didn't have time to go back and justify it. This was my first blackout and anonymous game. I learned that in the future, I'm going to work on switching up my play-style and my RP style. Also, a question for anyone: how accurate were your guesses about who was playing which account?
