But the writer doesn't indicate that s/he is a lighweaver. They could be, but the impression I get is that they are interested in it because of it's similarity to a Yolen magic. Maybe because it indicates that Roshar has a more direct connection to Adonalsium than other planets? There are Adonalsium spren around, right? Or is that an uncomfirmed theory? Or maybe because the Yolen/Roshar versions of this ability are more useful to this person/group than the other versions we've seen, like in Elantris?

Yeah, Hoid has been pegged as a lightweaver for some time now, I think. Long before we knew Roshar had that surge.

What is a spren, though? It's the cognitive aspect of something which is able to slightly manifest in the Physical, and that manefestation can be strengthened by a Nahel bond for some spren. NB is the cognitive aspect of the concept "destroy evil" or something like that. He has the physical form of a blade because that blade was fed enough investiture and given a command. So NB isn't all that different from a spren, in some ways. Of course, he is locked into the form of a blade permanently, as far as we know.

I'm of the opinion that he needs both. He got the one super intellegient day to create the diagram. Maybe he'll need a super compassionate day to properly act on it. Though he'd probably be so stupid he wouldn't be able to do anything but drool on himself, so maybe more of a moderately compassionate day.

What makes us believe that Cusicesh is actually a spren?

Axies is the viewpoint character for the interlude, so he kind of is the narrator. This is called 3rd person limited, where the narrator tells you everything from the viewpoint of one character. So, if the narrator said something, it's because Axies saw it that way. The viewpoint only changes between scene/chapter breaks. -
It was obvious to me that she would return thanks to that "no body, no death" rule argent invoked, and I also knew she had Transportation as her other surge from these forums, so I wasn't surprised at all. Szeth though... deus ex machina there. I don't recall any foreshadowing for that one.

So I've read lot's of books, and only a few are worth rereading, so I guess you could categorize my favorite books by whether they're worth a reread or not. Books I've Reread: Brandon's Books: I've read most of Brandon's books twice now, WoK 3 times. I'll probably keep rereading them as we learn more about the Cosmere. Dresden Files: Just reread these before the release of the latest one to catch up. Codex Alera: After getting through the Dresden Files there was still some time left before WoR, so I reread Butcher's other series. WoT: I'm still in a reread of this, though I've stalled at Winter's Heart because the plot is kinda sluggish. Trying to finish the series for the first time once I get caught up. So that's it, all the books I've ever reread. I could also see myself rereading Narnia and the Hobbit/LotR in the near future.

What's this about Shai being on Roshar?

Syl - a different take (full book spoilers)

Spren do have some agency when it comes to the bond, but not when the KR is acting against his Ideals and Oaths. A spren can't simply chose keep the bond intact. If they could, we wouldn't have all these dead shardblades. -
I thought this was the Parshendi claiming Stormform, but the Parshendi were probably closer to the center of the Plains and Kaladin and Shallan were probably closer to the camps. Plus he thinks they were enormous, so probably not the Parshendi.

I doubt he ingests the metal at all. Seems like a huge inconvenience and also weakness, given that he is constantly burnng Health. How long would it take to burn a vial of fHealth? And why wear spiked armbands if not? Yes, to keep the metal from being pushed/pulled, but it seemed that there was more to it than that.
-
Roshar is Honor and Cultivaton's lovechild, right?
-
This essentially confirms my theory that Miles burns the metal in his armbands without ingesting it.

So Susebron wasn't accessing the Form of a tongue in the SR, but rather a Form of a tongue as Endowment sees it in the Breath itself?

Spren tie to Surges, not Orders
Shardbearer replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Stormlight Archive
Problem:Shallan used both surges, but there is no indication that she has another spren. Same with Kaladin. -
Saying Dalinar could only have one Destination is a bit silly, IMO. I have more than one thing I want to acheive with my life. Dalinar wanted a united Alethekar. He also wanted revenge on Sadeas for what he did. These two destinations came into conflict. Part of the journey for both of these, then, was weighing the expected results of his possible actions, and chosing the best option as he saw it. This led him to postpone getting vengance and bringing Sadeas to justice. Not abondoning it completly, just putting it off so that he could deal with it in a way that wouldn't cause a civil war.

Have you figured out the Cosmere yet?
-
Yeah, looks like Fleet's soul (the Stormfather) is forever racing the wind, past the sea, and chasing the dawn forever in a big storm that circles the planet...
-
So does this mean Szeth really will be a KR?!

The 16 gods are the shardholders. I dont think Vin counts becauseshe didnt have it very long. Sazed does count because he still has Ruin and Preservation. Rayse/Odium, Tanavast/Honor (dead), Cultivation, Endowment, Aona/Devotion (dead), Skai/Dominion (dead) and Bavadin (unknown intent) are the others we know of.

What do you think is going to happen in book three
Shardbearer replied to shadewolf's topic in Stormlight Archive
Brandon recently said at a signing that he doesn't like traditional love triangles, but he does like conflict in relationships. Given this statement and the hints in WoR, I think that Shallan's relationship with Adolin will end and then she will hook up with Kaladin. Traditional love triangles involve a lot of angst in wondering which one to pick. I don't think that'll be a big factor. -
Ah, that actually clears up things alot. I hadn't realized you thought the First Ideal was fudgeable. That mostly clears everthing up for me, except that I disagree about Dalinar being a hypocrite, but that wasn't really my main point.

Ok, so the Desolations start or continue whenever the Heralds are on the planet. But the Heralds stuck around after the previous Desolation...but they gave up their blades. Does that mean they weren't Heralds anymore after they dumped the blades? Because if they didn't leave the planet another Desolation should have started (unless the timing is ~4,500 years). But we know one Herald went back for his Blade... Maybe Taln didn't come back after all. Maybe the Desolation started kicking into gear after that Herald took his Blade back? Or maybe that was Taln at the end of WoK, but he only came back because that other Herald reclaimed the Blade and triggered a Desolation, and Taln could sense this from Braize. No use staying for more torture.

SO ROSHAR IS REALLY A BIG DISK FLYING IN THE SKY?!
