  1. I'll agree with you there, since I don't think they ever figure out how to destroy fain life. Brandon, when he was releasing Liar sample chapters: [source]
  2. Very rarely, he will come here. Last time was posting some continuity notes about Mistborn: Secret History. He's a reddit or, though, so sometimes he takes a look at some of the cosmere subreddits and comments, especially if someone tagd him in a particular topic. His assistant Peter stops in a little more often.
  3. The question was indeed asked of Brandon on the Arcanum Unbounded tour, and it is a coincidence:
  4. He has discussed it before. He doesn't look at theories, pretty much for that reason. (Although he will come sometimes on Reddit if he gets pinged.)
  5. From Eshonai's first interlude: Which definitely implies Soulcasters.
  6. Either Brandon or Peter tweeted that they were moving it back to Wednesday. So tune in tomorrow, same time, same station.
  7. They just announced how to get numbered books. You can get them from the midnight prerelease, the San Diego signing (which is on the release day), or order them online from Weller's, as usual. The link for ordering them online should be going live later today, at 7:00 PM MDT (9:00 PM EST, 1:00 AM UTC); I recommend anyone who sees this and wants to watch for the go-live, should watch Brandon's blog, and not wait here in this thread.
  8. Also, is Brandon throwing some shade at us?
  9. So, the Voidbringers aren't actually Voidbringers yet (good confirmation of what some of us have been suspecting since the first Kaladin chapter), and they even have a spren working with them. A yellow streak of light... almost sounds like another honorspren, except they're blue, and I would think that Syl would recognize one of her sisters. We've seen a combination of alerting and the color yellow before - the alerter fabrial used a heliodor. I wonder if there's any connection? If this spren is actually a sentient spren who can think, or if it is how the Listeners (and now Kaladin) see the "alerterspren"? Shallan's adopting of the Brightness Radiant persona feels very much like Soulforging, from Emperor's Soul, so I think there's something deeper going on than just mental gymnastics on her part. I've previously drawn connections between Forgery and Soulcasting, since we've seen both cases utilize the history of an object (Shai needs to know where the stones were quarried, Shallan needed to appeal to the Wind's Pleasure's long history with its sailors). I think Shallan is using Transformation on her Spiritual self when she adopts a persona. Another similar thing concept that comes to mind is gold Allomancy, bringing up an alternate version of yourself. But Shallan isn't just changing her history, she's bringing in parts of other people. Brightness Radiant is made of Jasnah; Veil is made of Tyn. Shallan is changing pieces of her soul temporarily into other people.
  10. From the AU Chicago signing: Arclo talks about "watching' new Radiants, which was the first clue we got.
  11. I think the parallels with previous back covers mean The King will be Dalinar, and The Traitor will be Eshonai. They are our five flashback characters for the first half of Stormlight, so that's why they're going on the back covers. (Only four in WoK because Brandon hadn't decided between Eshonai and Navani.) Oh, and I think it is "we may soon ___ Surges."
  12. Oh, Brandon, you should know better. If you zoom in on the ARC back cover, you can make out some words. The first line is "A new storm has come." The five names are The Captain, The Spy, The Stonewalker, The Traitor, and The King. One other neat line I can see is "The Unmade - shadows of the Enemy's mind" Anything else you guys can dig out? Update: Here's what we've got, at the end of the day.
  13. Brandon will put up a blog post when things go live. He hasn't done so yet; keep an eye on his website.
  14. We do know that the Nightwatcher is an analogue of the Stormfather, but for Cultivation.
  15. Nice signed books, @pharaoh9000. You fot any more? Silver-related or otherwise?
  16. That was it! Thanks.
  17. Any good highlights?
  18. Here's what we have for our transcription. Spoiler'd for size. @Lurcher, you may want to copy this and edit this into your original post at the beginning of this topic, if you get a chance. It's nice to collect all transcriptions right there at the beginning, so we don't need to hunt for it. So, this obviously wasn't done in a Google Doc, as we've done it in the past. Argent and I tag-teamed this using the new software; we uploaded the audio to it, and then Argent and I both started going through and tagging relevant sections. Then, I stopped listening to the audio and started transcribing the sections we had identified, while Argent finished up finding good bits. It let us transcribe this 3-hour over the span of about 5 hours. And more betas could have been involved (if they weren't so lazy or asleep or getting married) to speed it up even more. It was pretty gratifying to see the new system in action. For now, that means we can't do the usual checks, where people will comment corrections to the transcription in that Google Doc. The actual transcription is hidden in the new archive, which is not public yet. So, once the audio comes back up, if you see any corrections, make sure you post about it and tag me, so I can go update things. In the first question and the last question, specifically, I had a hard time making out some of the words, so I could use some help on them. Also, I like the WoB about Intents. It suggests that Intents were not of the Vessels, but all came from Adonalsium. EDIT: Oh, and I believe @PeterAhlstrom would like to see this? To track down a question Brandon may have answered incorrectly?
  19. 'Shards' is about the only one. Maybe a variation of 'letter' or 'correspond,' and definitely something along the lines of 'longevity,' 'old,' or 'immortal.'
  20. It may not mention Frost and Hoid by name. The important parts were longevity, and the exclusion of Shards from the question.
  21. Close, but that's not it. The WoB I'm looking for convinced me that Frost is not a Shard, which was a theory I had previously held.
  22. I seem to recall a WoB that goes something like this: Who's the oldest people in the cosmere that aren't Shards? Frost and Hoid. I saw it after March 27th of this year (because that's the last time I posted about my 'Frost is a Shard on Yolen' theory. Which most likely means that it was from an event in the past six months, although it is entirely possible I merely saw an older WoB around that time. Can anyone help me find it?
  23. The big challenge in assigning a new Shard to Trell is that we know the mystery metal is from a Shard we know: Source
  24. Can you elaborate on this idea? I do not see where you get it from that WoB. In fact, the WoB says that the physical body is indeed transported to the Cognitive Realm, not that it ceases to exist. The end of the statement is the method of transmission - Investiture creates the portal that you can use to transfer into and out of the Cognitive Realm. As to the idea of 'connection to the Physical Realm,' Preservation does speak of the idea in Secret History: Note that Preservation does not refer to capital-C Connection here; other places, the term is capitalized, since it is referring to the Spiritual Realm substance. We learn of three kinds of Connection in Secret History: person to person, person to world, and person to God. Kelsier still has Connection to Scadrial; it's why he's not able to travel very far. But that's not what Preservation is referring to. Kelsier's physical body still exists, or as much remains after it was digested, but it is no longer a part of Kelsier. Which is why he can't use the Perpendicularity: he does not have a body in the Cognitive Realm. I don't think this is a Spiritual property that you can spike out of someone's soul; I think it's just that you need a body to move your body between Realms, and Kelsier does not have a body anywhere. Brandon expressly RAFOs that possibility. Spren are different in the Cognitive Realm, but that's not necessarily where you would be able to spike them. I think he's saying there are places in the Physical Realm where spren manifest more tangibly. Not Roshar as a whole, but it would be specific places on Roshar where spren could be drawn into the Physical Realm to a greater degree.
  25. As far as I'm aware, information from readings is fair game (and was the majority of discussion in this board for a good period of time). There are two flashback chapters from Unfettered that we haven't seen yet; people have been avoiding them, but I don't know if they're strictly off-limits. Maybe @Chaos could clarify?
