  1. He did not; he was under the weather, and had a bunch of stuff to sign for the bookstore still, so he closed up shop at 8:30.
  2. It's hard to say; not everyone stayed in the bookstore, people were milling around the neighborhood at restaurants and bars while the bookstore tweeted out line numbers. The Express Line took 2 hours, the Unexpress Line was 3. I found some people to talk with both by coordinating through the forums and the old-fashioned way. ("So, do you come here often?") Barely anyone had finished the book, so we had to be very careful with out spoiler-based conversations. But the crazy fans tend to find one another, no matter how many people are out.
  3. It's working too well, and unfortunately it might become the only option at some point. Brandon spoke a little about it during the general group talk, about how he's doing everything he can to keep interacting with his fans, but his notoriety is making it tough to keep it at his old level. So, it looks like the Express Line is here to stay, and I hope we'll be able to keep the Real Line for a while yet. Maybe non-Stormlight stuff won't be as bad.
  4. That is intentional. Remember, Shallan had been masquerading as an Elsecaller in Urithiru, so the Fused were working from bad intel.
  5. This is the page in question:
  6. I asked that question, and from my recollection it's not impossible for the Survival Shard. Another Sharder there asked about the first new Letter in his signed book from that event, but he hasn't finished the book yet, and I don't want to steal his thunder. He hasn't put it in the signing thread yet; I'll PM him and see if he can snap a pic.
  7. I do not recall seeing any of the Fused use more than one Surge. I suspect Kaladin didn't fight Windrunner Fused, but Gravitation Fused. Which would mean, as far as 9 varieties go, they're either missing a Surge, or just that the tenth kind isn't one Venli could see. But the Surges I recall seeing are Gravitation (duh), Abrasion (also duh), Regrowth (the big dude who kept healing), and Illumination (the one who stole the big gemstone in the first place). I think the slower acceleration is more of a narratively-based balancing act. They have a seemingly limitless supply of Voidlight, but they are somewhat more limited than a Radiant. It's a weaker magic in some ways, a stronger one in others.
  8. I believe you're mixing him up with Sazed, from Mistborn. Even if he were, whether or not it would be healed would depend on how much he has accepted his situation. Kaladin has accepted he was a slave, and never let that belief go; that's why Stormlight doesn't heal his scars.
  9. Ooh, looks like Cadmium managed to get a good picture of me.
  10. Now I gotta know what the other two books were... I'm guessing Silence Divine and the Threnody novel. That would fit the timeline - they've both been tumbling around in his head for a while.
  11. It was great meeting everyone there yesterday! We sure got nice and friendly, all crammed there into that small room. Most of my questions were Oathbringer related. I had one non-OB-related question, but it was drawn from the Dragonsteel Bridge Four sequence, so I'll spoiler that one, as well. The recording of the signing line turned out great, so we'll put that in our Arcanum worklist and get that out to you guys as soon as we're able. Look forward to seeing you all at the next Houston signing!
  12. All the annotations are also in Arcanum, including chapter 21. We've got a lot of miscellaneous stuff from Brandon's blog and website in Arcanum, that aren't super easy to find over there. There's the pronunciation guide (which is what I think he was referring to in that annotation), and there are a couple of detailed Aon writeups that you may also be interested in.
  13. The store has cleared out, and there are actually open seats! If you're hiding out nearby, feel free to come back in.
  14. I'm in the second row from the front. The place is packed, people are standing outside looking in the windows.
  15. Hey, if anyone is watching their emails, there was a typo from Team Sanderson! If you got an email saying it's at 6:00 PM... that's wrong! Brandon will probably still be there if you show up then, but 2:00 PM is when the event actually starts! I'll be getting to the bookstore around noon, I think. I'll have a black backpack, with a two-inch plastic version of my profile pic on it. If you see me, come on over and say hi! We'll see if there's enough space to set up a game of House War. I'm not thinking it'll be a good idea before the signing, but maybe while the line is going.
  16. Haha, this is quite an old topic. You're probably looking for @Joe ST these days.
  17. We've known for a couple years now that Maya was an Edgedancer's spren.
  18. Brandon recently clarified that WoB. When he said "both of these strains of humanoids," he was referring to humans and Listeners. Note that he doesn't say "existed on Roshar"; so the WoB does not necessitate humans on Roshar prior to the Shattering.
  19. We are discussing the letters over here. Topic closed.
  20. What do you mean? Allik's people are the Southern Scadrians - her ancestors came from place Allik is from.
  21. Let's hold off on it for now.
  22. Moved to Cosmere Theories. Welcome to the Shard! It has, in fact, been noticed that Iyatil is Southern Scadrian. But she's not from Scadrial; her ancestors were. She is from Silverlight, so her appearance on Roshar definitely means she's a worldhopper.
  23. Yes, we are sure. This is a bit of an artifact of how Brandon changed his naming terminology, so you have to be careful to check dates whenever you look at WoBs on the subject. But Brandon hasn't said anything about the timeline of what is now Mistborn Era 3, even when he was calling it Mistborn Era 2; he's been consistent in saying it's the Wax & Wayne books happen after Stormlight 5.
  24. I think the books make that connection extremely clear.
