“Sir, yes, sir!’ Wes said and swivelled the machine gun, loading up the ammo and firing. It was such a bug gun and Wes was such a small teenager that with every shot he violently felt the recoil. He fixed that by using spare parts to fasten the gun to the ground. Turning its scope to the beast’s wings Wes yelled and let loose a barrage of bullets, the force of the recoil shuddering the entire rig back and forth.

The Canton forces watched as the Aon Blasts slowed the creature down, if not temporarily. A few Canton members kept shooting til they collapsed from exhaustion. “Continue!” The commander cried out. They had to do this. Meanwhile, the forcefield reached 50% of its charge-up. “There’s only one thing to do now,” the commander said, and the operatives looked at him in shock. “Makati, no.” “Yes. Investiture harms it.” He summoned his spren beside him as a large bladed weapon. “And my spren is willing to make the sacrifice. With me filled with stormlight and my spren as a weapon, it will work.” “It won’t. You’re just one man.” “It will have to do.” “Not if we come with you.” The Canton commander stopped in place as he watched the abominationspren lumber forward. “You don’t have to.” “What’s the greatest quality of the Canton, commander? What did you teach us in training?” The Commander fumbled. “That we were not individuals. We are all part of the Canton, the Alleyverse. We all do our little bit,” he said quietly. “So let us do our bit. For the Alleyverse. For those whom we protect. Is that not a Windrunner’s ideal?” So one by one, about five of the operative ran forward and lashed themselves against the creature, filled to the brim with stormlight, sprenblades extended in large spiked shields and weapons, flying directly at the centre of the creature. They knew they would perish, but they were prepared to. For them. For the Canton. For the Alleyverse.

As the girl and another woman talked Marcel kneeled down beside the body, thinking about what they had said. The woman finding where they were, finding the exact alley that just so happened to have the dead body? This must have been the Radiant that had been watching them earlier. Kira, she said her name was. And the girl... she clearly had her own issues. Something she needed to forget about, so she stored all the time. Marcel wanted to help, but she had denied. That was fine. To each their own. “I just can’t believe the loveliness of loving you,” he hummed quietly, the lyrics to Sugar, Sugar, as he took out a bone stamp. “I just can’t believe it’s true, I just can’t believe the one to love this feeling to. I just can’t believe it’s true.” He began to carve out a pattern in the bone stamp, a quadrilateral shape, sharp triangles sticking out. A centre pattern that looked remarkably similar to a a map of France, Marcel had always thought. “Sugar, ah honey honey,” he sang quietly as he stamped the blood and the stamp held onto it with no problem. The blood was old, but not stale. He had been killed 24~10 hours ago. “You are my candy girl.” He placed down the stamp on the cobblestone beside the man’s head and it pulsed and began to glow, lighter in one direction and dimmer in the other. “And you’ve got me wanting you.” It was a similar sort of seal that allowed skeletal to track people just by their blood, but Marcel was using it in isolation. “More of his blood is in that direction,” he standing up and pointing. “I assume that means the murderer got some of his blood on him, he would have cleaned it off later but at least we can see where they went before that.” He looked to Kira. “Radiant,” He said. “What surges can you do?”

At the change back to Tühine the formally dressed man calmed down and he watched both of the women with narrowed eyes. Price looked as Sagitta moved her hand from the carriage and looked to the other woman. He didn’t know what she had said, but it had worked. Unless they were coordinating an escape together and so Sagitta waited. Who knew? “Don’t do that again,” the formally dressed man warned them. “If you do so I can label it as a security threat and have you two get penalties.” At this the woman and even the crazy man paled. Price looked to the formally dressed man. “Won’t that be a bit harsh?” “We have no idea what they’re talking about. It could be a plot to kill the Queen for Infinity’s sake!”

Gancho, you legend. Something I find really cool about you is your writing. When I first joined the Alleyverse, I only knew you as writing Nei’an, who was super cool, a real jokester. But then, as we went into further eras I think your writing skill really shined (especially as Vesuvius. A serious character was really cool to see you write). Some fun trivia: - When I wrote your name, my device almost always wants to autocorrect it to “Gandhi”. Exposed?? - What I said in the ‘compliment the person above you’ thread still applies now - The Alleyverse will forever be missing an unpredictability once you’re gone, Gancho. So, yeah. Farewell, and literally fare well on your travels outside of the Alleyverse, Gancho Libre. It was great RPing with you. - I think I am here. (Itiah) (I only use my full name on special occasions)

Marcel looked at the dead body in shock. Not fear — it was clear from the dead body that it had been killed some time ago and the murderer had probably ran. He didn’t pale (If it was possible to pale further) and he didn’t yell. He was just shocked. He dealt with dead bodies all the time, both as a forensic pathologist (in training) and as a graveyard watcher. And as a bloodsealer. So why was he so shocked now? Contrary to his expectations, it didn’t seem the girl was very shocked either. “No,” Marcel, said, looking to the dead body. He looked to the man there. “Perhaps you should call the authorities?” @Dr. Dapper

The woman exhaled softly, looking to Sagitta with a bored expression. She was at first glance about 10 years older than to Sagitta, and had Tühine features as well as Ta’e’iloan. She smiled a little, however, at the greeting. “And yours as well.” When Sagitta finished her questions the woman answered. “My grandfather sailed, he crashed into Tühine,” she shrugged. “And then he had a child and that child had a child and that was me. I was a very poor girl, and there was not very much option on what I had to do for money. But fortunately, before I had to do anything unsavoury,” she tapped her head. “I heard that I could get food and sleep from the military. And here I am.” She gestured to the carriage. She tilted her head and looked at Sagitta with sympathy. “I guess it was different for you?” The man dressed in formal clothing perked up at the conversation. “What are they saying?” He asked Price, who shrugged. Was he supposed to be worried? Maybe they were planning an escape. The formally dressed man continued looking back and forth between them but he couldn’t decipher it. He asked the raving man to translate but the man just cited a piece of the Ta’e’iloan constitution instead.

Price looked at Sagitta, her hand near the door and his eyes widened. He shook his head subtly so the others in the carriage wouldn't see. She was thinking of running. There were a whole lot of problems with that, from the forest animals to the police but Price didn't have the time to explain them. She was afraid of the Truth Instinct. Maybe she thought she would end up like him. What could he do? The other woman in the carriage was attentive. She looked to Sagitta. "Hello, woman," she said in native Ta'e'iloan, loud enough so everyone could hear. The formally-dressed man sat upright, looking at her with caution. Of course, no one but her and Sagitta could understand the words. "Do not mind him. He is crazy."

Marcel took the sheet of paper, looking at the address, judged in which direction it would be. He wouldn't say he knew the streets like the back of his hand, but he was accustomed-enough to it after spending enough years living in it. "That way," Marcel said, pointing to the right of him. He looked where he pointed and squinted. "You see that alley? Just follow that until..." He trailed off because in the alley he pointed at someone was lying. Lying still. With a pool of blood underneath them.

I walked to the would-be-wife — storms, I really needed to find a name for her (Ene! I could just say Ene, couldn’t I? [because writing the would-be-wife every time I wanted to reference her was annoying {not as annoying at this use of brackets-within-brackets, I realised far too late}]). I was going to see what I could do to make her feel better about the whole situation but it seems she was already surrounded — by an armada of her own characters. I was intimidated, I knew a few of them but the others I had no idea about, though I guess all I’d have to do would be too check her About Me section to find them — and rusts, there was a lot of them. I wondered if anyone of them was a doctor — not like any medical attention could help Apollyon. Almost on cue, Dr. Dapper shook his head and a crowd of his own characters came rushing through the door. I looked with wide eyes, wondering what to do? Did I bring my own characters into the mix? It wasn’t like I had many to compare. Just Rashan, Mara, Max, Tars, Redatrick, Alask, Lusk, Wes... Okay, there were a couple, but still. Did I really want to sic them upon this thread? Or was this a solo mission for the one and only, Itiah? I smirked. Then I wiped that smirk off my face, because that was inappropriate considering for the last couple minutes I had been staring at the ex-groom’s dead body. I looked to Ene again, and sighed and walked over to her. “It’s okay,” I said, looking at Ene. I waved. “Do you want pudding? Colours, I’m not going to accept an no, you look like you really need some, and lucky for you, I brought extra!” @AonEne -

Everyone in the carriage looked to her. Price’s eyes looked to her bleeding hands, and his breath caught. Could she increase the intensity of her own hands to cut her hands? Imagine the effect on manufacturing tools, saws would be so much more efficient — No, the bleeding was an injury, Sagitta was a person, not a tool. A person. But, it was so easy to think of people under Price’s control as tools, so easy to think of the utopia that would form out of a world sustained on the remarkable research of Instincts and build on a foundation of Cahaya’s ashes and not consider the ethics. But he had to, a good researcher didn’t let himself grow detached. There was a pause throughout the whole carriage and finally the one who answered her was the man dressed in plain clothing. His eyes were unfocused and he slouched, looking at nothing in particular. “Tühine, Tühine... you know 94% of Tühinines don’t know the original reason the war was started? You know... you know Tühine means ‘Void’ in another forgotten language? You know...” the man continued to mumble trivial facts about random topics until his words drifted back to the country. “60% of people are scared of the police. Exactly 21 attempts to overthrow the crown have happened since the beginning of the monarchy, 1 within the last 50 years. Tühine’s national animal is the grey and red emperor butterfly...”

She was storing again. Marcel frowned, which beyond social interactions was his resting face. But here he was in a social interaction now, and he was frowning. The girl seemed to have a happy life, in blissful ignorance, and who was Marcel to interupt? He needed to stop playing hero. He was a Bloodsealer, they made scary movies about people like him. “Okay,” he said, noticing how she looked at the crystals. Definitely a Radiant. The crystal trail moved around and away to rooftops. Even if Marcel wanted to chase, he didn’t have the capability. Bloodseals had impressive features, but they had limits. He ignored her taking his hand, maybe she wanted him to dance with her in the disco but he knew he probably wouldn’t be allowed in after that screaming incident. “Enjoy your dance,” he said with a little bow.

Storms. Rob’s face remained neutral. Cake, cake, cake, how would the cake have gotten there? ”I don’t know,” Rob said. Sometimes the answer was no answer. “I was too distracted by the gunfire, I didn’t even notice. That reminds me,” he pointed to his face. Try to change the topic. “I think I’m still in shock.” Hopefully the doctors would believe him, a kid involved in a “gunfight” and yet completely neutral in facial expressions.
