  1. "Our Investiture," Rob said bluntly. "Some people told a police officer."
  2. The man was healed and in annoyance Marcel looked to Kira, and then at the man, putting his seal near the ground again. "You know the pain that befalls you if I put this stamp down. I would recommend you start answering our questions, friend." He looked to Wita, standing there, not wanting anyone to hurt him. "He is a thug, child," Marcel whispered. "If we do not remove him, who will?"
  3. Cheh took a deep breath and opened his eyes. He nodded. "There are people coming. The same ones that attacked us on John's flying air vehicle."
  4. Rob looked at the sudden enflaming of the door, and saw Draug behind it. He waved. People were panicking and inside Rob knew there was a good reason to. But, then again, why would the police believe a couple of kids who said they were superheroes? They would probably label it as drug-abuse or somesuch. Walking over to where the door had once been Rob noted what type of hinges still remained, the model number so later he could order online the exact same type of door. "It is a risk," he said, looking to everyone. "But police wouldn't believe you guys. They probably still don't. But either way... let's not try to reveal things to people again."
  5. “Yes, but we had an effective cover story,” he blinked. “A thing or two?” Rob asked. His face was still neutral, but if it was possible to channel passive-aggressiveness through neutrality Rob was doing it now. “Did you tell them?”
  6. Rob looked to him. “Why would the police ask us about magic? I don’t think they got our address, and they don’t really know about Investiture.” Rob still refused to call Surgebinding magic. Magic was all that Harry Potter stuff Rob had seen. What the Radiants did was more like... science. Investiture. He didn’t respond to Leona saying she almost set a cop on fire. He could imagine how that would be traumatising for the cop.
  7. Slowly, Cheh began to feel his fall ease. He stopped screaming but remained hyperventilating. “Okay,” he said. “O-Okay.” And he closed his eyes.
  8. As Marcel pulled back his tool from the thug’s hand he brought us his bone stamp and smeared the blood on it. It was unprofessionally done, but Marcel wasn’t performing for an audience tonight. Well, he was for an audience of one. Marcel himself always found his bloodsealings entertaining. Stamping the seal on the wall Marcel paid no attention to the symbol, only relying on the fact that when one’s blood was used in a seal, it hurt a lot. Hopefully the pain could immobilise the thug for some interrogations.
  9. Price’s eyes went wide at the roar. A Forestlynx. They usually stayed away from moving carriages, thinking they were big creatures instead of complex contraptions, but once a carriage stopped and the illusion was broken? It was good hunting. Price was about to deny the knife, he had his own, with a poison tip. But some weapons were best left secret, and so he accepted the knife to keep up appearances. He wasn’t in the mind to deny Sagitta weapons and armour, judging by her skill in battle and by the thigh injury the other guard faced, she was probably the best defence they had. “Take his armour,” Price pointed to the dead guard and his leather gear. Walking over he took a tomohawk and put it beside her. “And that could be a weapon. I don’t know, it should be enough, I think.” The formally dressed man, the plainly dressed woman and even the crazy man all paled at the roar. They were Tühinine, and they had all heard stories or reports of what hid in the jungle. ——- Soon, the carriage was in sight again, and the beast resumed chase. Somewhere along the line the Forestlynx had climbed a tree, and was now probably chasing her from the upwards treetop canopies as well, unseen and ready to strike.
  10. “What were you expecting?” Rob asked. He found it difficult to believe anything could be worse. Well, if the Voidbringers won, then it would be worse.
  11. Rob nodded his agreement. Yes, the Prom had been a large letdown. Rob never let himself get too caught up within the anticipation of an event, but this was different. And of course, Voidbringers had come. Why wouldn’t they? It was a great opportunity to have all the Radiants in one spot. “Hi, Leona,” he said when he sat on the couch. “How was prom for you?”
  12. “No,” Wes said, looked to Ajax and his machine gun and groaned, resting his forehead on the large metal contraption. “I’m not even in range,” he whispered back and closed his eyes. “But I had to do something. Otherwise I’m just a useless underling. I can’t even turn into animals like you or heal like Seom.” And it wasn’t like he had someone who really cared about him anyway, like how Mike and Seom were dating. His parents had abandoned him from birth, he’d been raised by the Ghostbloods who had always been cold towards him. ——- Oh, Max said, then thought of an idea. If you Elsecall into Shadesmar just as the bomb goes off, you should be unaffected. The bomb would only affect the Physical Realm, right? He paused and looked to Ajax again. When this was all over, they’d take a vacation to Iri. Be glad I didn’t surprise you with Iri on the day, he joked. I know you like to plan.
  13. When the thug grabbed onto the wallet Marcel didn’t let go, hopefully distracting him. Quickly and precisely he stepped forward, close to the thug and he swung around the hand holding the sharp tool at the thug’s own exposed hand, hoping to get a cut or better, a stab.
  14. Rob watched Ben also sit on the couch and saw how stormlight healed them both. Idly he inhaled some stormlight as well, he wasn’t nearly as injured as Ben or Shana but what little scratches and scrapes remaining on him after the battle quickly vanished. “Well, you guys were being kidnapped. Obviously. “Mahad told me to help you. I think there was already a cake wall that stopped the van, by Leona. I sunk the wheels and more people came and fought. Ben went unconscious, and they took you hostage, and then you escaped and we took cover. Then more Voidbringers came with that plant and more of us came and we hid behind the car. And then you sprinted off and destroyed a storm-ton of them, and I called the police because that was the logical thing to do.” He’d actually called the police because he was scared about his friends being slaughtered by demons but he wouldn’t dare profess his fear and the rest of the story was true anyway.
  15. Price watched from behind the carriage, his awe of how skilfully Sagitta acted in combat only matched by the sudden hate he felt when he looked at the features of the attacker, found them remarkably similar to the Cahayan captive he had in the carriage. Price wondered about taking the captive hostage but it seemed it wasn’t needed as Sagitta beat the attacker with just a stick. Running by Sagitta’s side he cursed and called to the formally dressed man, who ran outside along with the plainly dressed woman and a leather pouch which contained medical supplies. Turning to her he asked her whether her instinct told her anything about medical practises and she nodded, got to work on the guard who had gotten a knife in his thigh. After she was done with him she moved over to Sagitta and began to work on her. Price only looked ahead where the Cahayan attacker had run. Briefly he considered chasing her when a roar pierced the sky. —<>— Meanwhile, a feral animal stalked Zura. Slowly it appeared out of the foliage, a couple feet from her. Clamped in its jaws was the head of a horse, which it dropped. The head fell to the ground with a thud and slowly rolled towards Zura. The animal was green with tiger-like fur and stripes, probably to aid in camouflage in the forest. It’s limbs were long and slender and it’s claws were massive, like the size of small machetes, probably to assist in climbing. Staring at Zura with bright yellow eyes it tilted back its head and roared. They had a saying about these creatures. If it had the confidence to show itself to you, then you were probably already dead. @Sorana @Lunamor
  16. “Okay,” Cheh said and kneeled, looked up and down again. He took a deep breath. “Okay.” Raising his arms up he closed them into fists and closed his eyes as well. This was a foreign land, but he could still feel the connection to the earth, stubborn and strong, substantive and rocky. Throwing his fists down onto the ground a pillar of rock summoned beneath Cheh’s feet and he was thrown into the air by the force of it. The dense forest trees were tall, but Cheh was launched higher. He looked down and tried not to go dizzy as the ground below became smaller and smaller, and he focused his attention to beyond the trees, where it seemed there was a clearing. Some metal things, and definitely some sort of animal. The downside of being so high was that he couldn’t see in detail, especially as he was still skyrocketing upwards, feeling the air roar against him, no ground or earth to help him. Before he reached his apex and began to descend, Cheh caught sight of people at the clearing. The same people that had been attacking them at the ship. The thought put a knot in his throat and he was suddenly unprepared for the roaring drop that he was experiencing. Without thinking he screamed, he was going to die, definitely going to die.
  17. Double post, but I have new content to add and I want to bump this to the top! This rap is long overdue, but Tobias was just warming up his vocal skills for the finals . So, without further babble I present to you, Stephen Leeds' best aspect, the Morgan Freeman himself... Tobiaaaaaaaas! ( @Snipexe )
  18. The sudden energy of the boy surprised Alask. Lightly he patted Mart on the shoulder. “Yeah. I’m pretty much always going to be around here, the Forge.” He smiled reassuringly at the kid. “Don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere.”
  19. “Would the aliens need that?” Cheh asked and took the medical kit. Not the knife, though. There was plenty of earth around and he believed Jessy could probably use the weapon more effectively than him. Setting the kit on the ground Cheh felt the compact dirt directly below him. “I can launch myself in the air,” Cheh said. “Get a view around from high ground. But I haven’t learnt how to land yet without breaking all my bones. Could you help reduce the fall?”
  20. “Hey!” The other guard said, turning sharply towards her. Unbeknownst to her, the guard was a Facet Instinct and had heard the thud. He raised his arm and threw a tomahawk towards her, charging forward with his other one. Price peeked out and saw a pool of blood next to Tühinine colours. “Entropy’s touch!” He cursed quietly. He looked to Sagitta. “One of the guards is dead.”
  21. Rob trudged through the courtyard, making sure to move slow enough so Shana could continue to lean on him and match his movements. He saw James helping Ben up and he internally smiled at Ben and Shana, true lovers that they’d even got injured together. Rob wondered what would happen if he and James laid Shana and Ben right next to each other on a bed, without stormlight so they’d have no choice but to sleep next to each other. That would be cute. But Rob wasn’t that heartless, and he fully intended to get them all the stormlight they needed. Walking to the front door Rob shuffled in his pocket for his key and opened the door. The smell of home hit him and he was glad to be back somewhere familiar. He walked over to the couch where a loose pouch of spheres lay, and he sat down, trying to lead Shana down as well. She looked like she needed rest. @Sorana @Wyndlerunner @Lunamor
  22. “Sir!” Wes said, stopping the firing but staying fixed in his position, looking to Mike with a flash of irritation behind his glasses. He paused for a moment, regained himself. “He’s attacking the city. He’s attacked the city. What else am I —” his voice broke. “What else am I supposed to do?” ———— We will, Max said. Trying to comfort her. We’ll go to Iri. For your birthday. “Would a leecher bomb disable him?” Max asked. Something city-wide, it had to be powerful enough to leech him. The only downside would be it would leech everyone else too. But still, it looked like those monsters were powered by Investiture, maybe a leecher bomb could cripple them.
  23. Alask went upstairs to the rustic upper levels of the Forge. The flooring was fortunately stable up here and he didn’t worry he would collapse onto the floor below. From one corner he brought out a mattress - the one that Ishek had slept in, back in the day. He took a clean cloth and beat the dust and rust out of it, and placed a new bedsheet. Groaning he tried to drag it downstairs, he didn’t want poor Mart to sleep upstairs where all the insects and little creatures lay. It was heavy. Alask called for Shez. For some reason, it seemed they could never get in sync like they had in the AlleyStorm. But they could try. With small, localised regions, like Lena had suggested. They communicated, and with one gesture Alask’s arm was suddenly aflame with black tendrils and a smoky appearance. He held back a laugh, he was awed. Grabbing onto the mattress with ease he hauled it downstairs with barely any effort. The withering only destroyed biological objects so the mattress remained unharmed. Alask followed the mattress downstairs just as his arm shifted to normal. He placed the mattress next to the table. “There you go,” he said.
  24. What do you know about. Marcel kept the memory of those words in his head and nodded to the thief. Guns. No matter how good any magic was, technology constantly surpassed its limits. Because Investiture stayed the same, while technology evolved. Where would technology be in another thirty or so years? Flying cars? No way to tell. “Okay, fine,” Marcel said and put his seal back in his pocket but keeping on holding the tool he had carved the patterning with, a short but sharp carpenter’s tool. He then took out his wallet and held it out at just short of arms reach, stepping forward. He kept his eyes trained on the thug, and the moment the thug would try to grab the wallet Marcel would try to attack him with the carving tool, get a little bit of blood out. Just some blood, and this whole issue would be solved. @Sorana
  25. Max looked to the warp, to Ajax. His eyes were wide. Ajax is here, he replied. Looks like he came to us with all of his monsters. He summoned Sethramir and held it by his side defensively. Do the Ghostbloods have any anti-aircraft technology? He’s hovering around, and I have a feeling he’s going to be able to repel most things we throw at him. His voice over the link shook slightly. ——- “Ohmystorms Ohmystorms Ohmystorms!” Wes shouted on the rooftop, looking at Ajax and his posse of monsters. They all look scary. This was the boss battle. The final fight. The end game. Wordlessly Wes swivelled the machine gun to aim and Ajax, and fired away relentlessly. “Die, die, die!” He chanted.
