Mid-Range Game 31: Spiritual Warfare
I think I am here. replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Reading through the Spirit doc now, I’m straight doubling over in laughter at my crazy cycle 7 theory. “Itiah’s idea of What Happened is seriously messed up” “I also don’t want to injure Itiah’s beautiful theory, but that would happen sooner or later anyway.” These are great. -

Oh, I am so sorry Crimsn I guess there’s something poetic in me trying to help and then screwing stuff up. Anyway, great game everyone! Also, can I just say how I completely called everything in the end? I mean: I predicted Crimsn was Shaor I predicted Xino was the Bodyguard I predicted Devotary being a traitor. All this at the very end of the game, minutes from rollover! If only I was faster. -

Argh, this is not a good idea but I am changing my mind. Crimsn I really didn’t originally think you sounded elim but the simple fact you survived propelled me to vote. Due to the current exaplanations, I think I have another theory. What if Crimsn is Shaor and she attacked Devotary, but Xino was the Bodyguard and protected Devotary? This way, Devotary would be protected and when the Bodyguard attacked Shaor he would have to essentially protect against himself, warranting the double protection? Of course, this also means he attacked Alvron, and would make sense how there were two protects. It also explains how Devotary isn’t dead. If Alvron and Crimsn really did attack, and the actual attack on Devotary would happen regardless of fighting back, then Devotary should be dead. The fact Devotary was protected makes sense. Ok, now that we’ve got that sorted, this theory means Xino is the Bodyguard. But why would the Bodyguard protect Devotary? The answer is simple: Devotary and Xino are both Spirits, and Xino is the spy. He must have seen our doc conversation on attacking Devotary and decided to use his action to protect them. Xino Also, if Xino was really a Wildman Bodyguard and He nullified two attacks (Alvron, Crimsn) he would have sustained two attacks and would be dead, even if he healed last cycle, since then he’d only be able to sustain one attack. Him being Spirit healed makes most sense. Whew -

If you really want to do this, you could word it: “I vote for ‘Hrathen to get Itiah to attack him.’” Same result, except different wording. -
Max saw Atticus walk towards Ambrosia and Ambrosia dissapear just as a glowing red gauntlet sailed through the air where she had once been. Looking at it from a distance, Max could see how Atticus was standing near to where the glove would land. “Get hit!” He yelled at Atticus, commanding the armoured man to step into the path of the glove. Now, where had Ambrosia gone? *** Mara dropped to the ground as Ambrosia disappeared, unable to keep her balance. She fumbled, attempting to get up again but failing. Ambrosia had dissapeared, and Mara didn’t have one of her gloves. Well, if she wasn’t fighting right this moment, the least she could do was prepare. She wasn’t going to be taken by surprise again. Getting herself into a kneeling position and then a -albeit clumsy- standing postion, Mara took the time to bring out an assortment of daggers and coins from her coat, ready to Push into the next enemy that moved. She saw Atticus moved, and prepared to attack, but Max raised a hand, his eyes telling her all she needed to know. He’d done it. Controlling a spiked was one of the most despicable things someone could do, in Mara’s mind. Controlling Hemalurgy had been what led to the Abominations, and for that reason Mara had never told Max how to do it. But he’d figured it out, it seemed, and Mara wasn’t sure whether to be proud, relieved or disturbed, because Max looked pleased at his control. Or maybe that was just her mind acting up.

The day was busy, and it started approaching dark as another person limped to the table. But instead of sitting down, the old man placed a binder book on the table and left without a second glance. It read: ‘RASHAN’ —- Nice post, Meta! (Also, I think I may have accidentally left a double upvote ). I’ll make sure to send you a PM later today. Again, thanks for all your work on the Wiki. You’re a machine, man (in a good way ).

Hey, Fifth. It’s possible this is how fighting back works, but I doubt it, since it makes the most sense in regards to how the results got as they did. By all means, my assumption on how fighting back works could be flawed, but I think it makes sense and I’m going to stick to it. Is there anywhere in the rules that states it works how you say it does? Because if there is, I’d be happy to concede this point. I haven’t seen it though. Also, I think you’ve either forgotten or ignored the real reason I think Crimsn is the traitor. It’s not because of how I believe fighting back to work, it’s because she was attacked and yet didn’t die. If she was an ordinary Wildman like she said, she would be dead. No one is admitting to her being healed, so it must be obvious she’s the traitor, because the only reason she’s alive that’s left is her being a Spirit. I think the way I’ve put it is thorough enough. There are a handful of ways she could have survived an attack, and now the only option left is that she’s evil. That’s the base of my argument, and so far I don’t think anyone has contested it. I think you forget that if she’s a traitor then she’s already narrowed down Shaor to three people. All killing her does is kill a Spirit and remove a spy from the doc. But, I partially concede. If Crimsn isn’t the traitor, killing her will only narrow down the possible suspects of Shaor to two people, not counting the traitor third person. Still, I’m not going to give up my vote until @Crimsn-Wolf explains herself. Wait a sec now. You do realise that, according to our theories, the Spirits have one, maybe two conversions left. You do realise the only way for the Spirits to take out Shaor directly is through the conversions. I think you overestimate my capibilities. I’m not a lynch leader, I don’t have the power to decide a lynch. Honestly, Bard was going to be lynched anyway, he was a high suspicion after CadCom. I just scan factions. My literal only use to the Spirits is to hide them more efficiently, and that won’t even matter if they can get Shaor. You say converting me is a good option because I can lead lynches into innocents. Look how many opinions I’ve had this game that haven’t decided lynches. Maybe in the early game I could’ve been a good target, but now, when the Spirits have few conversions left? I doubt they’d waste one on me. I seen this, and I’ve said sorry for not scanning the Barons. I don’t know whether scanning the Barons would’ve really cleared you or not, but I didn’t and you’re still suspicious. If it helps I think I’ll scan the Barons this cycle. -
Max was winning. He felt Atticus’ mind bend under his influence. He had just about taken control when Atticus took out a shaky gun and pointed it at Max’s head. Max only had half a second to manoeuvre his face out of the bullet’s path but he was too slow. The bullet whizzed and smashed into his ear. Pain coursed through Max as he clutched it and screamed. As Atticus stopped squirming Max tried to crawl into a ball, and then it hit him why Atticus wasn’t attacking. Max was in agony, but a small part of him still held on, still kept up the Riot on Atticus’ mind. He felt it, cracked and broken, and a little part of him was disturbed at what he’d done. Another part was in glee. He’d done it. He was in control. The feeling swept past Max and almost dimmed the pain, like a drug. He was in control. He might have sustained an injury, but Atticus was his now. Opening his eyes a fraction Max caught a glimpse of Ambrosia. She looked worried, and was looking towards Atticus. She wouldn’t know, would she? Leaning towards Atticus’ ear, Max whispered a command through gritted teeth. “Pretend. Pretend nothing happened, that you shot me and that’s all. Pretend you’re not under my control, and gain her trust. You can do that, can’t you? You do that all the time. Isn’t it appealing? Pretend you’re still on her side. Pretend I don’t own you. And then, when she least expects it, I’ll tell you when to strike.” Max forced himself to his knees, and then his feet, walking away about ten paces, and then tapped some more Nicrosil to enhance the zinc more, just for good measure. *** She’d nicked her. That was all. Mara had a knife in her neck, and all she’d done in return was nick Ambrosia with her swords. It was nothing. It was pathetic, really. Mara would’ve done something now if she wasn’t in shock. Oh. Ambrosia. She grabbed onto the knife in Mara’s neck and pulled it out. Still in shock, she thought, slightly bored. Still - AAAAAAHHHHH Ow. Owwwww. Mara’s neck racked with pain as she felt rage burn within her. Oh, that hurts, she growled mentally, looking towards Ambrosia, who seemed distracted looking at Atticus. Oohh, you’re going to wish you never even did that. Crawling closer and taking off one of her Shardplate gloves, Mara observed the glowing red Aon Sheo embossed in it. Holding the glowing gauntlet in her other hand, Mara got up on her feet before throwing it as hard as she could to the back of Ambrosia’s head, Aon Sheo still glowing.

Wait, what? Crimsn Wolf I believe you have some explaining to do. In the Wildmen doc, you and Alvron teamed up to attack Devotary. This obviously gave a 20% chance for failure, and it’s clear the attack failed. Devotary was attacked but survived, and Alvron and you were attacked, but while there’s a reason Alvron survived (he was healed), you should be dead right now, since all Wildmen start on Injured. I’m not going to question Xino because he wasn’t active the whole cycle and could have very easily put in a an order for food, but you said you would attack, and thus wouldn’t have a chance to heal. I’m also curious who attacked Xino. It had to be a Wildman, they’re the only people who can attack, and it obviously would’ve been a Spirit trying to attack Shaor in hopes of exposing the bodyguard, and then most likely killing Shaor off later. A nagging feeling in me says Kidpen is the traitor, this has been brought up before in the Wildmen doc but Kidpen is just inactive enough not to draw attention and just active enough to put in an action. Also, why wasn’t Kidpen attacked? It might be because he didn’t put an attack action in the first place, which would be bad for the village and label him as a traitor, or it might be because his attack succeeded. In that case, if his attack succeeded, then it would have to be against one of the people we see. We know that he didn’t go for Devotary, because otherwise he would’ve been attacked too, and the only other people who have been attacked are Wildmen. He might have attacked Xino. But I am not voting for Kidpen because I believe I have a good theory on what he is. I believe Kidpen is the Bodyguard. Why? Well, he didn’t send in a kill action, which most likely meant he sent a protect action, which makes sense. That, or he ordered food this cycle, which would be pretty helpful considering the Bodyguard goes down a level of pain for every action he nullifies. He said he was going to attack someone in the Wildmen doc, but that could easily just be him covering up the fact he is a Bodyguard. So, here’s my current theory, which I think explains the whole deal of what just happened: 1. Alvron and Crimsn say they’ll attack Devotary. 2. Kidpen says he’ll attack someone. 3. Kidpen actually orders food which will help his role as a Bodyguard. 4. Only Alvron attacks Devotary. 5. Crimsn attacks Xino instead. 6. Alvron’s attack fails because Devotary fights back. 7. Crimsn’s attack fails because Xino fights back. Boom. This is how I think everything happened. It makes sense Alvron’s attack failed because it was only one person, same for Crimsn’s. Plus, this way it makes sense how four people got attempted attacks on them but survived. Devotary and Xino survived because attacks on them failed. Alvron survived because he got healed. And Crimsn survived because she’s a Spirit. Also, I know you asked me to scan the Baron’s, Fifth, but my team said to scan the Wildmen, so sorry for that. Back onto the news of my scan: Nothing new. There are 4 Non-Converts in the Wildmen. With five of us in the doc, that still means one traitor. It seems that if the Spirits haven’t used all their conversions bubble, there’re at least saving one for when they can narrow down Shaor. Whew! What a post. And I haven’t even started on how Bard’s flip to village gives us tons of information. Fifth , you’re a huge suspect of mine, and I’m almost certain to vote for you next cycle if we can’t kill you this one. Meta, you too. In fact, (and let me take this pause to say I really like this mechanic), I vote for Hrathen to kill Meta. That’s all I got for now. We have three chances to kill people (lynch, Wildmen, Hrathen), let’s use them to kill the people we’re finding most suspicious. Note: It should be noted I do not find Devotary very suspicous at all. Honestly, I didn’t find them suspicous to begin with, but with the recent event of Crimsn being the one to tell us (in the doc) to attack her, and I’m almost sure she’s innocent. Itiah out. -

We see the Ire do some pretty wierd stuff in the Cognitive Realm, namely the use of that giant ‘pipeline’ that seems to be filling their fortress with power. Range might be an issue, though. Another thing you should be able to do is to store your Connection to the Dor in a Duralumin-mind, and then when you’re far away and need to use Aons, tap the Duralumin for an extra strong Connection that will hopefully power your Aons. You will have to periodically go to Sel to recharge the Connection, though. Since Nicrosil can store Investiture, another theory is that if you went to the Cognitive Realm of Sel and didn’t die, you could possibly store a small chunk of the Dor itself to use on your travels. You would also have to periodically recharge your metalminds, though. This is similar to the Connection tactic, though more deadly, since you’re travelling to Sel’s Cognitive Realm. It could also possibly give you better results, as instead of storing the Connection to a particular Investiture you’re storing the Investiture itself. Hope this helps! -
Yes. That medallion gives you that power for a temporary amount of time, and in that time, and in that one you’d be able to compound. So, yes for both. (Also, it’s Unsealed metalminds you’d be referring to, unkeyed metalminds can only be used by someone who has the same Feruchemical power, while anyone can use an unsealed metalmind.

Mara managed to hop off Atticus as he went beserk. Had Max done something? He’d taken a step back, which meant he hadn’t frozen up completely, and that hsf to be good, right? Mara took out her duel obsidian short-swords to help Max but - Just as Atticus tackled Max a blur filled Mara’s vision and an explosion of power at the back of her head sent her flying into the ground. Her Shardplate Helm was shattered in a dozen pieces, and Mara felt a massive dizziness. The blur returned again, with a knife, and Mara tried to unsuccessfully ready herself. Her Aons made her fast, but not nearly fast enough, and Mara only managed to hold her swords ahead of her as the blur charged into her. *** Max was brave. He’d done it, hadn’t he? He’d faced his fears! So why was he still trembling as Atticus sprinted at him. The man’s face was a melting pot of emotions, and the sheer feral nature of it only reminded Max more of the Abominations. He had to face the truth. He’d faces his fears, but that didn’t mean they were gone. He’d stopped himself from freezing up, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t scared. Atticus ran into him with a tackle, the duo falling on the compacted dirt that made up the floor. He seemed... angry. Had Max accidentally Rioted anger? He quickly tried to change his Riot. Submission, Hopelessness, Resignation, he tried to Riot these emotions. Back in the Ghostblood lab, they hadn’t told him what emotions to Riot if he wanted to control a spiked, but Max assumed these were the way to go. As was forced to the ground, Max tried to think of an attack but his hands were shaking. What could he do, what could he do? Mental attacks were one thing, but if M- There. Max looked to the back of Atticus’ armour. There was a backpack there. It looked damaged. Had Mara been attacking it? Why? She knew more about Space Marine tech than he did, what were the things she’d said we’re weaknesses? Mobility, stealth, Power Pack. If Max remembered correctly, the Power Pack would lie on a Marine’s back and power the suit. Mara had been attacking it, and Max had to finish the job. Laying a hand over the Power Pack, Max flared his Aons for strength one more time as he grabbed onto the pack and tried his absolute best to rip it out. His mind was focused on nothing else, his arms desperately trying to finish what Mara had started.

Max got pushed a slight distance and dropped Anbrosia. He heard something to his side so he turned his head. *** Mara landed on the ground as gracefully as she could as Atticus ran away. But why? It didn’t seem at all like a move for someone as protected as Atticus to make. Had he been scared off by the punch? That was before she saw where he was running to. Max and Ambrosia. They were going to gang-up on him. Mara couldn’t let happen. Especially not with that spike sticking out of Atticus. With a growl, she sprinted forward, activating her Aons for more speed. Throwing a coin, she pushed herself onto Atticus’ back. With another heave she tried pulling on the power pack again with all her strength. If it wouldn’t tear off she hoped it would distract Atticus. At least before - Max looked at them. *** Max looked at Atticus, and saw the spike. Almost immediatly, memories came to him. Memories of that night, 16 years ago. Abominations. Spiked with powers beyond Max’s undestanding. They splashed the walls with blood. Max had seen with his own eyes. Looking at that spike, the one Atticus held in his eye, and Max couldn’t help but see a thing that had killed so many of his friends and probably his family. He froze, his muscles locking in place. He no longer had his helm to keep his mind calm, and the screams of men long dead ravaged his brain. He looked at Mara, on Atticus’ back. Oh, how she had always tried to get him to stop freezing up. She’d always tried to calm him and it had worked for the most part. She’d been protective of him. She’d even tried to talk Max out of this duel. His eyes moved to the crowd, and he found Master Sheonar in it. He too had tried to help Max. Countless lessons and talks, he’d taught Max to deal with his fear. Somewhere in Max’s brain, a piece of him screamed to move, screamed to no longer be bound by his trauma. It was quiet, and small, like a candle in an ocean of darkness. It grew, and Max’s memories tried to fight back. But more and more, Max felt support. He remembered his lessons with the Ghostbloods. Weakness was a problem for an assassin, and they’d tried hard to rid Max of his. He remembered his therapy lessons with other trauma victims. He remembered running away from Siplhio time and time again, until he finally came to terms with the spike. That’s where all of this was leading to, wasn’t it? He’d always thought the solution to his trauma was to fight it back, like he’d done with everything else. It’d worked in the short-term, sure, but it only spelled pain later. No, if Max was to really deal with his trauma, he had to accept it. It would be painful. It would hurt, and it wouldn’t be nice. But if Max was to really, really get on the track to fix this, this would where he’d start. The screams and flashbacks swarmed him, but Max took a deep breath, and stepped forward to greet them. His muscles followed his command, and for the first time in a long while, Max unfroze himself. He took a step backwards, and stared Atticus in the eye as the armoured man charged. He felt like hell inside, but he took a deep breath, and supertapped an entire metalmind to Riot Atticus.
